I might have to drive up island and walk around the local scene with a bevy slow style with you then. We'll need suits and sunglasses. LOL. Sorry man, couldn't resist. Chicago's is awesome. It hurt me a little bit when I had to download Chelsea Dagger. Great song but tough to get away from those memories.

Just curious, is there anyone out there that likes the Canucks goal song?!!! It's like a chill grab a drink and slowly walk the premise kind of song. Perhaps if they could fire up the crowd with some actual entertainment and energy the team may get a bit more pumped too......perhaps. I sure do get envious of Nashville and a lot of other arenas out there.

[Rumour] Canucks interested in John Marino

I'm going to go on a hunch with some credit to team leadership that they'll get Boeser back on his skates first and then push him back up in the top 6 and perhaps top 3 when he gets hot.......all to set up a trade. The writing is on the wall that he doesn't fit the makeup of the team anymore with his cap and his playing style. Love his points and he comes across as a great Canuck for the city but a locker room shift towards some more defensive cohesion, bite and lunch bucket work is badly needed. I hope I'm right about management but we'll see I guess. Boeser and Bo are the most tradeable right now with their shorter contracts. Bo is more valuable to us though. -

Absolutely. The team just worked cohesively and was utilized for the roles they played. But I'd say the lines had identity every bit as the players. Some players could pop up or down and change the role they played beautifully vs playing the same style on a different line. Guys were brought to the time for specific roles (Lapierre, Malhotra). Henrik was probably an under-rated 2-way C. Not as good away from the puck as Kesler, but the other lines had to actually get the puck away from the cycle to create any offence. Oh how much we miss seeing set plays from the Naslund era and the Sedins era. -

While that makes a whole lot of sense, can you imagine if we let Boeser walk and then the usual luck happens where a solid player suddenly underperforms here? They were stuck with Boeser regardless by the summer. Trading him a couple of years ago would have been ideal but hindsight is 20-20. Regardless, I think if Boeser lights it up for a 10-game stretch, we trade him and we should actually be inching towards something respectable.....IF and a big IF the team starts playing like a team instead of a good group of individuals. -
There shouldn't be any debate on this. This was a shrewd move. Not good for the tank but if there's no tank, moves like this could get us in the playoffs. A 5th rounder is not a biggie at all. Yes there have been some key players drafted then, but have a peek through the years with the 5th round and look at the odds of landing a good one.
-
When do you think he'll start doing that? I say wait for him to light it up and then trade him. We have enough forwards and not enough money. If they can't land a solid RHD, injecting some picks / youth would no doubt go a long way.
-
Is he healthy enough to get in game shape within 3-4 weeks? If so, a 5th is likely a great deal. Having Schenn know him well is a bonus. Yes we've drafted great 5th rounders but honestly people, if we're not tearing it down, then we badly need a RHD. There's surely more to do but I'm just happy they're not standing pat.

[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks

It's only a talking point because people are debating whether or not to tear the club right down into a rebuild......so not really a tomorrow problem, but more of an assessment of how far do you go -
[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks

The missing ingredient to this team is the compete level. I thought TG was the issue and I still thought that he was last year. But this year is suggesting that the core are also a problem. Quiet quitters is a buzzphrase that could be extended to this group right now. Every successful team has a group of guys who's compete level is high and on display game in, game out. Those are the guys I want to see on the ice. -

There you go.....someone gets it! Cheers Coryberg. If this season goes down badly and we don't get a franchise-changing player in the draft, say goodbye to EP. -

Tough to think Petey sticks around. This team does nothing unless they pull in 2 very solid defensemen, with one preferably being a Norris candidate. Nobody gives those away so we're looking at a seriously high draft pick in the next year or two. -
[Discussion] Do You Have the Stomach For a Rebuild?
NHL97OneTimer replied to Warhippy's topic in Canucks Talk
We all want a Stanley Cup, but short of that I'm actually fine seeing a Canucks team that entertains, shows up with shovels and boots and gives the fans a show of what hard work and athleticism is. A team full of average players committed to each other and playing in unison is fantastic also. I can watch 3-2 losses if they earn my respect. I'm perhaps shifting my connection with the NHL where I'm simply wanting to be entertained by my home team more than worrying about if they'll make the playoffs. The bar isn't lower. Winning feels good. But winning points because your goalie stood on his head while being shelled game after game doesn't feel great. -

https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/what-would-a-vancouver-canucks-rebuild-even-look-like/ Possibly all of the above on the list in the link if things keep up. Thing is, if you trade Bo, Boeser and Myers, you may as well trade EP unless the players returning are enough to turn this team around. -
[Discussion] Do You Have the Stomach For a Rebuild?
NHL97OneTimer replied to Warhippy's topic in Canucks Talk
Yes to the rebuild for sure. I've seen players look lost out there (last year under Green), but this year's edition looks apathetic for the most part (and disorganized). Too much perimeter play and not enough hunger. I want to see some more "bite" and "truculence" again. These star players aren't getting that for us at all. Rebuild please. -
Should team look at signing a new assistant coach?
NHL97OneTimer replied to *Buzzsaw*'s topic in Canucks Talk
phone call to X coach: "hey, we're looking to shake things up here and wondered if you would like to join our coaching team" X coach: "will there be any key player personnel changes?" phone call to X coach: "well, more of a retool on the fly plan" X coach: "......." phone call to X coach: "hello, hello?" -
They weren't a dynasty for sure. But with ~30 teams in the league, what do you expect?!!! They were built for the regular season but gave us some excitement for many years. Slayed the dragon. I get the huge desire to win a cup, but to trash a team for not winning the last game of the playoffs is a bit odd. If you want to see what a bad Canucks team is, check out most of the pre-94 Canucks or this year's version perhaps.
