"Common sense" and "entire thread" somehow in the same sentence yet they go together like Burkie and fedor fedorov. -
Should canucks hire a english/russian speaking assistant coach ?
NHL97OneTimer replied to Nurnge's topic in Canucks Talk
This is another reason why keeping Goldobin in the system may be a good thing. You don't hire a coach for three players and have the rest of the team hear Russian. A team has to all speak the same language. Goldobin right now is a key to helping out Poldkolzin and welcoming back the tree trunk. -
[Report] Eriksson “NOT” likely to be moved on
NHL97OneTimer replied to Provost's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Are you suggesting that I'm blowing out hot air or LE is too obsessed with his lovely locks? Both are reasonable I guess. -
It's BECAUSE he's always injured. Also, he has hands of stone. Decent penalty killer and certainly not a bad player, but he is replaceable. I'll take him over LE anyday though......especially now that he's doing his pilates.
-
I didn't realize there would be a hoard of pilates folks on this board ha ha! Hey, I'm not so ignorant.....I do pilates and work with a physio for ongoing injuries on a weekly basis. I do get it, but I also get that if he's at where he's at, he won't be able to put a full 82 game season in. I guess we'll see in April.

It's the coach's fault apparently. -
Just had to laugh at the article a bit. Perhaps he keeps the hockey socks on as leg warmers while he does his Jane Fonda pilates workout. Agree he has value still. Hopefully he plays well. Would prefer to see Gaudette grow with the club too though.

I'm still scratching my head at the cover text "Babes on the Blueline"

What are you most excited about for the upcoming season?
NHL97OneTimer replied to cuporbust's topic in Canucks Talk
Watching the Oilers implode and hearing about how Lucic has torn up the dressing room in Calgary. Oh, and Ferland's first 100km/hr hit. -
This just in.....Sutter will be a beast this year thanks to a significant change in his off-season training: pilates. https://theprovince.com/sports/hockey/ben-kuzma-canucks-sutter-looking-forward-to-healthy-bounce-back-season-thanks-to-pilates Fast forward to one week of preseason: Sutter gets injured. Seems like a swiss ball and rubber bands in the tv room does not make an elite athlete. Roster problem solved. Kidding of course........I think.

[Rumor] Boeser Camp Eyeing 4 Year Deal Worth $28M
NHL97OneTimer replied to buddyguy's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Huh?!!! Don't worry man, Boeser will sign. My guess is that there's already a contract plan in place between both sides but there's a need to keep things on the down low (for trade reasons, etc). I don't know this, I just have this suspicion because JB seems pretty calm about it and there's been no significant urgency / concern raised yet. -

I hate the argument that Brock should get paid based on what his stats would look like with a full 82 point season. Yes his injuries were circumstantial and don't predict future injuries necessarily. However, you still want some evidence that he can perform 82 games + playoffs at a high level. The fact that he hasn't come into training camp in peak physical shape (not fat, just not tailored to the NHL game at the highest level) makes me more hesitant to feel good about adjusting the numbers for an 82 game outlook. I'm a fan of his and I think he'll be signed just fine but the contract should reflect a middle ground number for expectations. -
[Report] Canucks sign GM Jim Benning to contract extension

Agree with this. I wouldn't be surprised if they make the playoffs this year in fact. Not a contender yet but perhaps in 4-5 years -
[Report] Canucks sign GM Jim Benning to contract extension
NHL97OneTimer replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
Great to hear about this extension. He's a good guy and very capable. People overstate his "bad" signings, and this has certainly been his biggest downfall, but the players should take the greater public hit for that. The signings were reasonable, especially for a team not destined for the playoffs anyway. The big picture looks good though. -

Anyone else checking this thread regularly just waiting for the day that you can rejoice and truly raise a glass this summer? Even I don't think that he'll be traded but I can't help from wishing for this unicorn event. -

Now's about the right time for that call. Unless Calgary makes a trade with Buffalo for Risto. -

Perhaps fans are more worried about his comments than LE and the Canucks. My guess is that at the pro level both players and teams have dealt with imperfect relationships between the coach and the team. The likely scenario is that both sides look for a change, it doesn't happen, both sides just get on with it. Simple really. One just hopes that LE is professional enough during this rich contract that he trains hard and tries to be the team player that you'd hope he'd be.....4th line or whatever. -
I have and will always cheer for a Canadian team in the final (yes, sometimes I cringe thinking about that), but worse than losing the cup in 2011 was seeing other Canadians (including friends) wishing failure for the Canucks in that final in my own hometown. Albertans especially should have held their noses and wished their countrymen and friends some good fortune.

[Report] Eriksson “NOT” likely to be moved on

Worse than that, the total cost is $9 million over 3 seasons. The number 1 reason why LE won't retire early. -

Loui has 9 million reasons why he won't retire aside from wanting to be an NHL player still. Who leaves money on the table like that?!! Not many.
