The Depth players you are asking them to sign are Pearson Garland Chaisson etc. I can understand if you are not happy with those players , but we need talented leaders to compete and then build around them. Not trade them away to add the supplemental pieces . You keep the stars and add to them with what you draft or sign in FA Im pretty sure we will not agree on this -

If we win two cups with him here Yes i would be ok with him being here at that hit. Theres always possible buyouts and trades including salary retention. -

we could assuming those players will want to come to Vancouver. Miller is already here and succeeding. -

Petey while being younger and having a good timeline doesnt bring what Miller does for this team yet. What i dont understand from your argument is why we cant have both. Theres enough cap space if we lose Boesers contract.and even some space to add another player if we need to. -

I agree but Tampa and Colorado have 100 point players to lead their team and constantly look to supplement those players. Tampa kept Stamkos. We need to keep Miller -

I dont see the risk of losing a Petey or a Hughes. You risk losing the depth players like a Garland or Pearson. Chicago signed their players to the contracts they deserved and were able to compete for a few cups along the way. Toews Kane Keith as much as I hate those guys they helped them win cups. The break up of the team and the downward slide were after the team already won a few cups. Im pretty sure they were saying trade Kane away hes our best player we can get draft picks and some prospects for him. -

At what point do you look at your team and say we have the players that we need to compete for a cup. After cutting loose the dead weight coach this team is playing at a level even the most ardent supporters would have to admit we would not have thought capable. If Miller can be worked in under the cap i say we keep him. He has broken out as a 100 point player partly because he has the drive we need from a leader on the team and partly because he was given the chance the Canucks afforded him. would we like an upgrade on RHD? absolutely, do you trade your leading scorer to get that? Im not so sure that a good idea. Like i suggested earlier if you want cap space Brock is the easiest target given his contract situation and that the team continues to win without him in the lineup. Instead of 7 mill to BB how about 9 to Miller and 2 more Million in cap space to sign someone else. at least we know what we have in Miller, a draft pick that doesnt pan out is a crap shoot IMHO -

I think Brock has played well since being drafted. he brings a great shot and vision to the ice he just hasnt been the same player since he hurt his back in his rookie season. I also think the off ice stuff with his family hasnt helped him. If we are looking for cap space that "we control", Brock is the easiest answer. OEL, Myers, Garland, are all contributing right now on a team that is on a tear. Brock seems to be the odd man out. -

Dont resign Brock. Either trade him fr whatever you can get or walk away. Keeping Miller is the key. We seem to be doing ok without #6 a much as I like Brock. -

I would take him in over Hunt every single day. He adds a grit that we lack. -

Last night was not a great game by our team but a win at this time of year chasing a playoff spot we will take anytime. I liked the physical push back of the Canucks. At times we are a team that plays small. Burroughs rocking Merkel was one of those plays where the refs could have blown the call down but it ended up in the net at the other end. Had we not had a scoring chance i think they blow that down. We were able to put a body on a lot of the Sharks last night and considering they are a fairly big team i was impressed. That's playoff hockey Either Demko makes it look easy or he just played a so so game last night. I give him a pass on Boninos goal as he never saw it. He was screened out by Schenn and the shark in front of him. 30 wins is impressive especially with this bipolar team in front of him every night. Chaisson has stepped up with Brock and Pearson out. That's what good teams do. The next man has to step in and provide some of what those lost players do. For the dollar he is a good 13th man. Myers was a beast last night. Some of those penalties we will take if he plays like that. I loved that hit on Couture after he was already getting the penalty. Keep guys out of the crease. Makes them think twice about going there. Miller wasn't sharp last night. He gives the puck away a lot. Hughes I will give a pass due to him having been sick this past week. He didn't have a great game either. I thought the key to the game was the face off dot. in Arizona we dominated the circle. Last night we won 46%. The sharks won the face off a lot of times on our power play and that killed a lot of the momentum. 0-7 not a good stat. Pods is impressing me I didnt think he had a great start tot he season but has improved a lot and I really like his skating. He seems to think the game well. He makes plays but some of his line mates are thinking the same. If he can find a couple players that see the game the same way he will have a lot of success. Horvat and Petey played well they just didnt dominate. Garland, Dickenson, Chaisson depth scoring. Every team needs it. Good result even though we played down to a team and better results on the out of town scoreboard. have to win to get in. -

Our focus does have to be on winning all 10 games but we have every opportunity to take out the stars. They don’t play a lot of gimme games. We just have to keep on winning. -

We beat a team tonight we should blow out. Check. Too many times we have played down to an opponent especially after a big win against the Knights the day before. Get home get rested get healthy and let’s go ten in a row. -
Looking at the games left Nashville has a horrible schedule the last 12 or so games. After Ottawa tonight they have the following teams Tampa, Florida, Calgary twice, Colorado, Edmonton, Pittsburgh, Minnesota, St Louis, San Jose, Chicago and Arizona. I could see a lot of losses there.not a lot of gimmes Dallas gets Toronto, New Jersey, Chicago, Tampa bay,Minnesota, San Jose, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary,Seattle,Vegas, Arizona,Anaheim. Who Knows just as long as we don't lose to them Vegas has Arizona , Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, New Jersey. Washington, San Jose, Dallas, Chicago, St Louis, tough schedule Winnipeg has Colorado Ottawa Montreal Seattle Florida Tampa Bay Rangers Colorado Philly Calgary, Tough schedule as well If we can get one a roll and win the next 4 or five in a row who knows where that leaves us. We cannot lose to Dallas or Vegas we have the Coyotes twice. Play like we did against Colorado and Vegas the last games we played them and we have a chance to do it. as crazy as it sounds the west is still a bit wide open for wild card or the bottom spot in the division

I commented on this in the VGK GDT as well. I suggest we dont qualify Brock and use the cap space to sign a FA RHD. It would suck to lose Boeser for nothing but honestly i cant see a team giving up more than a 3rd round pick for him at this point. So if that pick came and didnt pan out its the same as letting BB walk. It would free up some much needed cap space and I think there is enough scoring on the team to make up for the loss of his goals. its a novel approach to managing the assets but it might be what we need to create the cap space with the least amount of affecting the team moving forward
-
Its always fun to win and beating a team like Vegas which has had a lot of things go their way through their first few seasons is even sweeter. They are in Cap trouble and heading into their off season there may be moves needed. on our own roster theres definitely decisions to be made. I am still stuck on what to do with Brock. Hes definitely not worth the 7+ mill he will get from his QO. Trade value is lower than ever. I am not sure theres a team that would give up a draft pick for him at this point. I still have to ask the question if we dont qualify him and he walks is it worth using his 7 mill in cap space to fund a D man from FA. There seems to be enough scoring from the other players on this team to offset the loss especially on the power play. It would definitely suck to lose him for nothing but lets say we traded him for a third round pick that didnt pan out. Wouldnt that be the same thing as letting him walk away?

It’s so tough watching the bigger teams play the Canucks. Every time someone brings up size we trot our roster being ok for their size. Vegas and St Louis are teams that not only are big they play big. Recover every puck. Win all the board battles. And really don’t give up much speed wise at least against us. We look slow and small again

I dont disagree Alf, but the reply was to someone saying dont take D in the first round. I say if its there as the best pick we take a D man not ignore a better talent. -
There is a need to overhaul what this roster looks like. We lack size and speed up front. Playoff success depends on wearing out the other teams. you need the start to show up in the playoffs but mostly its the depth guys that win you the cup. Its about surviving the battle and bigger teams traditionally do better. Our D core is all over the place. Schenn is the one guy that has played over his contract. Hughes has played well. OEL is an albatross. Laziest player on the team, always makes the stick swing rarely skates hard to get the puck out, Myers is big and when he tries to play big he takes penalties. Poolman , write off, Hunt , I would never bring this guy back up again. Burroughs if he was 6'4 would be the ideal D man. plays with heart, stands up for team mates. love it Dermott might be a decent 5-6. Healthy they are a question mark, add in the inevitable injuries they are just not good enough.

we dont have a second round pick as of now. If theres a D man that fits in and will be ready to compete with this core i say you draft him and let him get ready. Our issue is mostly on D. How we can let a good RHD slide past is not what i would do.
