I think the miss is the Pick where we took Hoglander over Korczack.. Some here are excited and that's their prerogative I personally would have taken the D over the diminutive forward. I See it as Edmonton type move (see no D men) and we will still be looking for Defensemen in 2 years when Tanev and Edler are gone and Juolevi and Woo are on the team. I have little faith in the current D group as its still our biggest weakness. I was hoping we would draft D in the first round and then forwards in the second, or Forward at 10 and then D at 40. The fact that JB professed to want to improve the D and then doesn't draft any is what i find ...

Odds are better for a 2nd round D man than a second round undersized forward. they are not all Cliff Ronning. 1915

my point exactly. odds are he never plays in the NHL but K Korczak will. Wheres the D? 1915

again I dont disagree with anything you said here its all valid, but if we sign a N American skater he doesnt usually use this as a bargaining chip and we dont do without the player for a few years while he sorts out his desire to play for the cup
-
again I am not saying Pod will have this issue its just they can use it as a bargaining chip , that's all im saying .1915

i equated him to Gaudreau who did disappear in the 2019 playoffs. 1915

I agree with that sentiment and I am a Benning backer.....for now. Like i said earlier i am more pissed about not drafting any D in this draft than the Miller trade. Especially when Korczack went right after Hoglund. 1915

First off you know there are Russian players that go back to Russia to play when they are challenged to improve in the NHL. Tryamkin is a perfect example. I am not saying Podzolkin will i said I am hopeful he wont. I said given the chance to draft a Russain or European or a North American i would take the North American player every time. I am not denying this kids skill set. When its negotiation time we will see what I mean. as for 1915 its obvious this is getting under some posters skin. Its under mine as well. i am not proud our city hasnt hoisted the cup for more than 100 years. The Canucks have been in the league for 50 years and I have watched probably 90% of their games on TV or listened to Robson on radio, over that span, They werent always available on TV every game. Vancouver last one the cup in 1915. When the rangers won it it had been since 1940. Other cities used to chant"1940" at them. It embarrassed the league. It might work for us also. 1915

I agree on the bolded, but if you look at what the fan base has dealt with Eriksson they expectations dont match the cost. Eriksson was brought in at 6 mill per year and expected to score those 30 goals he delivered the year before. The cost of acquiring him was zero roster assets but the fans cant let go of his 6 million dollar price tag. If he signed here for 3 million everyone would love what he brings to the game. Miller unfortunately will be judged the same way as he is basically now a first round draft pick and expected to be a major part of the team. I think i will wait and see what Miller brings come October. I am more ticked off we didnt draft a single D man. 1915

ok so I see you have no answers. good argument 1915

thats pretty far fetched, fans dont always have to agree on what management does. even when I dont agree with a posters comments I will stand up for their right to be unhappy with what they think is a bad move. I dont always post about things I am unhappy with and many here can attest to that. I believe most of JBs moves have been good for the team. Even the Juolevi pick as I didn't want a Tkachuck on the team however I am still waiting for some D improvement that he promised before the draft. Drafting a 5'8 forward and saying all the same things about him others have said about small forwards before is a repeat of what I have witnessed as a fan of this team from October 1970. If i didnt care i wouldnt be on this site. If everyone just agreed it would all be rainbows and unicorns here but we still wouldnt have a cup. 1915

Conceded, however just because hell froze over this year doesnt mean it wont thaw out next season. Congrats to the Blues and their fans they have waited longer than our Canucks for a championship. The Raptors, Meh not a basketball fan but good for TO. 1915

I have no issue with signing Stralman but trading for for Dillion may take more than we have to offer. I like the way you are thinking though, 1915

is Schenn one of those 2? I dont consider that an upgrade on last years sad sack D. 1915

This is the corner we have been boxed into with not drafting defensemen. We will have to over pay some free agent. Look at this draft today. Not one D in the first 5 rounds? after JB said he was going to improve the D core. We will over pay in Free agency or in a trade but now we are getting desperate. 1915

wheres the D? 1915

Thats the only way we will know for sure. I truly do hope i am wrong, history just is on my side. 1915

I actually just posted in there that I have less concern over the Miller trade than i do with JB not drafting any D men so far. especially after he said he was going to improve the D pool this year. Hoglander is just another Schroeder. Agree its a different Gm though, i just see it as the same mistake. 1915

I have less issue with the trade for Miller than not adding any D in the draft so far especially after JB said we are going to try to improve our back end this year. 1915

thats the last time Vancouver won the Stanley Cup 1915

Jordan Schroeder is selected 22nd overall in the first round of the 2009 NHL draft in Montreal. Scouting report: He's a dynamic player, a leader and a type of player that has developed into a complete offensive and defensive threat every time he is on the ice. He has a rocket of a wrist shot and he can beat you by putting the puck in the net, going around a defender, or freezing the goaltender and passing it off to one of his wingers. The concern is going to be his overall size, like there was with Scott Gomez, with Brian Gionta and with Patrick Kane, but at the same age he is probably a little thicker and a little bit more compact than they were. He's a great hockey player." Sounds terrific, Great job by Lou, Mr. Gillis and the rest of the Canucks staff. Sound familiar to anyone? Schroeder got 45 points with the Rockford Ice Hogs last season in the AHL. This is why i am not excited about Mr Hoglander. 1915

go back and look that was posted before i made that pledge, 1915

Lather Rinse Repeat = no cups. 1915
