Regardless on him being 20 lbs heavier he is 5'9 and we have seen and done this before with players that had all the skill and were undersized. We need size with skill up front to insulate the slighter skill players. E.G. to stop the rat bag punching Daniel so that kind of thing never happens again. We need to draft some D. The team that is going about it right is Colorado. They have more than enough young D. As those players develop that is the scary team out west. They can sign and acquire forwards at will as they will always be available. The D they have in place Chicago did it with Keith and Seabrook. they recycled forwards outside of Kane and Toews. Pittsburgh with Crosby and Malkin. Letang was the constant. If we want to compete for a cup not just make the playoffs we need to draft smarter not just add players. 1915

With our d? not likely. Basically right now it looks like this Edler- Tanev Hughes - TBD Hutton - Stecher Juolevi - Woo Biega when do we plan the parade?1915
-
we disagree I believe you are wrong, 1915

Hoglander= Gaudreau- invisible in playoffs, just disappeared Petterson needs protection Boeser although i love this kid will get killed Horvat will survive, Pod will have to prove it when he gets here. That bottom 6 is nowhere near what our bottom 6 was in 2011.

Basically right now it looks like this Edler- Tanev Hughes - TBD, Schenn? Hutton - Stecher Juolevi - Woo Biega When do we start planning the parade? From now on every post will be ended with Nineteen Fifteen!! it worked with the league when the Rangers were serenaded by it every night. 1915

that line up gets run over in the playoffs Edit this lineup might not make the playoffs

Rinse Lather , repeat for 50 years= no cups, i will die before we win one

did you miss the part where i said i believe the D man was BPA

Not overly excited with the Hoglander pick especially with Korczack still available. We need D and this keeps putting pressure on the FA market for us. we need to Draft defense and we draft an undersized forward. Last Draft I spoke of us taking an undersized forward whom management talk about this kids heart work ethic and grit despite being undersized. Well we have done it. and what is his ceiling for us? This is just another Jordan Schroeder type pick. This kid could play in the NHL but its not our pressing need and i believe Korczack was the BPA

Not arguing they dont have value. Its the lack of the threat to go home. Its the desire to win the Stanley cup over any other major championship. Its different today than when Pavel came over. Russian players have the option of going back home and making the money the make here. I am hoping this kid sees the world differently than say a Tryamkin. What happens when a coach say green tries to get the kid to find his own end like Goldobin. Does this kid work to improve or just say "screw you guys, i'm going home"?
-
I think this kid is going to be a player. what I am not sold on is the difference in value between him and say Boldy or Krebs. Given the choice to pick between and N American and a European , Russians included I pick the N American every time. How many Canadians on the Blues this year?
-
I think for me we either pick our player at 10 or drop down picking up an extra second rounder for doing so. At 10 I would want us to select Boldy, Zegras or possibly Broberg. Of course this depends on who is left on the board. If we drop depending on what we get for dropping, id like to see us target a D man. Maybe another one in the second round. I am hoping we sign a winger/center in FA. Lee if we cant get close to Panarin. Exciting day for sure to add another long term piece. Just dont trade the number one pick. That will ruin my day.

I also dont see Markstrom as untouchable. with the bulk of the core in the early twenties he may be the one on the outside. Especially as we wait for the D to develop. Marky might be the one Seattle targets anyways.

Tell me im wrong. Edler is Worth 5 years @ 7.5 - 8 million per

Bolded this i agree with however its not like Edler was filling the net himself or constantly making the break out pass to the forwards. He had the honor of passing the puck to Petey on the Power play for a lot of his points. His personal production on the PP is abysmal and we really do need another option there. Hughes. We also need way more threat from the back end. Stecher, Hutton, Hughes will need to jump in the rush more often to score more goals in this league. Teams need to feel they could be caught with a D man Jumping into the play. We have not had that a lot the last few years and thus our goal production is down. I am hoping Hughes can be that threat -
Yes take the money we would spend on a slow aging defender and spend it on a free agent younger not so slow defender who despite getting gifted power play minutes can score more than one goal in a calendar year on said Power play.

https://champsorchumps.us/team/nhl/st-louis-blues I think you have confused games for series. They only made the finals 3 times before this year. lost twice to Montreal and one to Boston where Orr scored the winner flying through the air. They never won a game before this years finals. The Blues were 0-12 in the finals before this year. They were swept each time they got there previously.

in my humble opinion signing Boeser to a bridge deal is a mistake. I have supported a lot of what GM JB has done but he will be making a mistake if he only signs Brock to a two or three year deal. Getting him locked up for 6 or 7 years should be the goal. I would pay Brock at the 7 mill range. Im not sure what the comparable out there is but its not a stretch to think he should get more than Bo. Karlsson in Vegas had the same points as Brock last season and makes 8 mill although he had a great year the season before. -
Boilkded is where we need to improve drastically. I have been saying for four years we need to get bigger on D. Stecher has played well but struggles with defending against the Kopitars, Perrys, Getzlafs Thorntons, of the league. He cant handle the size in our end. Adding Hughes to the mix now we have quite a few defenders who play small. This i totally agree with

I see this two ways. and they both are bad for the Canucks One adding Lucic would add basically nothing that we could not sign in Free agency although last year The Roussell Beagle signings were roasted on here. Roussell had a decent year and I am looking at him again this year providing a bit of nastiness with scoring touch. There would have to be a lot of sweetener added for the Canucks to take on Lucics contract. It will not only cost us a younger player at the Expansion draft it will hamper our negotiations with other players. Now to get to the more important part of this.... Why would we help out a division rival that is up against the cap, with a superstar burning years on his contract, to take on their bad contract, to allow them to get better, then beat us handily each game and we lose 10 points in the standings? Where does this make sense? I could see if it was an eastern based team we play twice a year but a division rival? The Oilers would have to add a whole hell of a lot to get me to bite on this, lets start with Bouchard and their first round pick this year. Maybe a pick next year as well. Why so much?? well we would be handcuffed with their crappy contract, two we would lose a player to the ED which we would need to replace, three they would have money to improve their team in our division. I cant think of anything more satisfying at this time but to leave the Oilers in the mess they created with McDavid losing years to their mismanagement. Sorry this is a hard no from me.

the other thing i remember vividly about that series was how many goal posts both teams hit and how loud they were in both buildings. I cant remember a series where that was the case after that. They echoed through the building. you didn't need to ask if they hit the post everyone heard it.

both players do not play similar and Boeser is 22? how can you compare them even closely. we are talking about a player that is at the end of his career not the start. Edler has been a very serviceable defenceman. he has developed into way more than we could have expected when he came to the club. You are comparing apples to oranges. Edler has his best years behind him and has had one good year the last three. A contract year. He has lost foot speed. He has one Power play goal in a calendar year. ONE. He is not the same player as 2011 no matter how much you and I want him to be. Saying he was the best D man on this team last year is an indication of how bad this defense has become not a reflection of how good he is I reiterate my statement that if we are going to give Edler more than 5 million a season and a NTC we should take that money and throw it at a younger free agent that will be around for a bit longer than Edler should be. Edler is really the last link to the 2011 Sedin era. Tanev played in the finals that year but as a rookie. Its time to move on unless he wants to play here without the NTC and for 5 Million or less. If he seriously wants to play here or no where else, this is how he can help the team. He didn't want to waive the NTC and i respect that. i just wouldn't give him that option again. And he is not getting protected in the Expansion draft. That would truly be stupid. -
2011 was not even close to what that 94 team was but same result unfortunately. St Louis got theirs this season, we are overdue as well. They were 0-12 in the finals until this year. We have been on the cusp twice.

as I remember Gelinas had a real good chance at the side of the net in 3rd period also and he hit the side of the net. That was the best Canuck team to play ever , and as a side note the biggest team in the league in 94. they had skating, scoring, defense, goal-tending, a power play, a superstar in Bure. They earned their way to finals and should have beaten the Rangers. The referees did seem one sided but that can be said any given year. they played through it and gave it their all. Like i said Monday night the cup would have been ours. Tuesday it was theirs
