  1. If we give out 3 years max term and a bunch of 1 year deals with Cole, Blueger, Myers, Pearson that’s around 15 million free cap space next year and lots more options with Boeser with one year left and Garland 2 years left with the Cap rising.

With Willander drafted and Lekkerimaki coming on strong late we might have shored up our Defence quite nicely.

  2. Willander and Danielson are my 2 picks who should be there. I’d be happy with either or at this point as they are both RHS Premium positions with Size, Skating and defensive ability. If we don’t get either there will be some great players on the board who fell and would probably be no brainer BPA at that point.

Take it for what it’s worth, michkov doesn’t follow any Washington capital players on instagram but follows both Kuzmenko and podkolzin I have a hard time seeing his plan to head to Washington

He played in SKA with Podkolzin and Kuzmenko

IF there's any targeted landing spot for Michkov it would be Washington no? Be funny if a GM before was jus like F this kid and his stupid plan we are taking him.

Maybe before they got rid of Samsonov and Orlov. Kuznetsov is on the trade block and Ovi’s contract is up at the same time as his in Russia. By the time he comes over he might be the only Russian there.

  5. Yzerman at 9 will be taking the faller of BPA at forward. I’m confident we will be drafting Willander if there isn’t some sort of agreement with Michkov.

Simishev could be a wildcard and to me Willander and Simishev are interchangeable and both a need.

We need players who can defend and play defence.

  6. Speed/mobility: Check

    Size: Check

    Hockey IQ: Check

    Premium position: Check

    Great Program: Check

Tom Willander is our guy and he fills a ton of needs and you could probably slot him long term next to Hughes as one of the most mobile defence pairings in the league. If he’s on the board still this is our pick with all the rumored interest on our side (thank god)

Time to rebuild the defence like promised.

There's nothing we can offer the Rangers for Schneider unless you want to throw away 1st round picks for him.

He's on the last year of his entry level deal. Those of the kinds of players they are going to keep.

I heard a report they were not as impressed with him after last season and the playoffs. Again, I don’t have a source but if my memory serves me right it was reported.

  8. I don’t see a scenario where we aren’t taking one of the big 4 Dmen in this draft. Willander seems to be the logical choice and there is reported interest.

Simishev being a Milstein client is 100% in the fold and I wouldn’t be surprised if they have spoken to the big Russian.

Reinbacher is the pipe dream least likely outcome of being there.
ASP is at a high value position and has tons of talent.

I see Dvorsky being the only player available to throw a wrench in things if still on the board.

  9. For everyone saying we should have retained on OEL for 4 years instead of the buyout for 8, OEL had a NMC and declined to waive it twice. He wasn’t going anywhere, anytime soon other than a buyout.

I can see us using our 11th overall to draft a Dman (Willander) so in years 3 and 4 we have a ELC contract when we owe $4.7 million towards the Cap (two biggest buyout years owed)

There has been a lot of smoke around the Rangers for a few years and I could see something around one of Schneider, Miller, Lafrenier coming our way.
