@Alflives i dunno... now 1040 is saying it is Sbisa.

If it is Sbisa leaving I hope Jim takes a good run at Alzner, he'd be a good partner for Stecher or Guddy.

Sweet, going to watch that vid later. I agree with @Mr.DirtyDangles, our food is responsible for many of our medical afflictions. The Western diet is, at times, pure sh*t.

Doctors aren't doing anyone any favours by over prescribing things like antibiotics, but it isn't entirely their fault. If you are a doctor who own a practice with patients who walk in with the common cold or flu demanding pills to placate their placebo craving mentalities over letting nature take it's natural viral course, then you are a doctor in a bind: give the mom or dad with a sick kid their lousy prescription after attempting to educate them on the matter, or do not and receive poor reviews about you as a doctor.

I sympathize with doctors as they have to deal with people some of us would roll our eyes at, and instead of taking the hit online, they write a scrippy.

If we could improve our diets we would be so much better off, but we definitely have a need for medical science. People really need to educate themselves a little more, myself included, so when topics like this come up in real life it's easier to have a conversation using facts instead of wives' tales.

I see today as a sideways move.  We got two guys, who are likely better than Baer and Goldy, but who aren't really going to be part of our rebuilt team.  They are just (IMHAO) slightly better placeholders.

  12. Benning draft strategy - BPA.

"“It has been my experience that if you go for position, you make mistakes,” said Benning. “You want to take the best available when you pick and that will be our strategy. Positional needs? We can find other ways to find those type of players.”

I think he might be alluding to missing out on Pastrnak more than OJ/Tkachuk. Jim may have been thinking more about C depth and picked McCann by mistake vs the more skilled winger, and he had already selected a RW with Jake.

Anyway interesting to see the BPA statement flat out, no grey area there moving forward.

Good strategy. I think it makes the most sense. If the Canucks do land the 2nd or 3rd overall pick I think it would be silly to pass on Svechnikov or Zadina to pick a Dman.

If they don't extend JB, as a fan of 35+ years I am done with this team until Aquaman sells it. He was brought into a mess, to rebuild a mess, had no prospect pool and was handcuffed the first few years by having to try and make the playoffs and rebuild, you can't and re builds take time. He's in year 3 of the real changes, everyone can see he's done a magnificient job drafting and re-stocking, and his bad moves have not handcuffed the team in any manner. He has a built a pipeline the strongest I have ever seen (at least in potential) in all my years as a fan, and should get the opportunity to finish the job and see this team come to fruition. if Aquaman is simply looking at points he clealry is not a good businessman because JB is setting this team up for a decade or more of runs at the cup. #re-signjb

Jim brought a knife to a gun fight. He doesn't have a lot to work with this year, if he is able to move Vanek I'll be surprised, but I won't be if the noon press conference tomorrow is him telling us that he didn't get a single real offer.

    3. Coconuts

      Coconuts

I won't be surprised either, seems like there are more teams looking to move pieces this year and more teams seem to feel like they're out of it at this point in the season. We've got some moveable pieces but there are better pieces available.

    4. King Heffy

      King Heffy

Vanek's the kind of guy that gets moved in the last hour as a consolation prize for a team that missed out on their real target.  The rest of our guys either have little to no trade value, or have enough term that we can move them at another point if the return is right.

Glad Benning got his extension before the deadline so he doesn't feel pressured into making a bad trade.

I'd be thrilled, though I think it would be over the top to expect him to ever reach Bert's level. There are very few players who have played the power forward role as well as Bertuzzi. If he's half the player Bertuzzi was, I'll be thrilled.

Certain religions and cultures have conservative attitudes towards nudity. It's particularly noticeable in the Muslim world or in the US. Really depends on where you live.

You should move to France, Cram. I mean, Fifty Shades of Grey only earned a 12 rating there (so anyone older than that could see the movie without restriction).

    3. Green Building

      Green Building

It's nothing new in Canada, groups have been doing this across Canada (including in Vancouver https://www.skinnydipper.ca/) without all the press for years, it's just that somebody complained and now the city decides to "look into it".

But yeah, typically people over here are super anal about nudity. It's absurd.

  19. Can a line shuffle be as good as a trade?

      luckylager

No, I don't believe a line shuffle is as good as a trade if you're actually getting a better piece.

However, when a rock star prospect gets added at the end of the season; that is better than a trade.

Pod could be that next season.

Could have a few guys breaking the door down next season actually.

Rambling here, but if Tree comes back at the end of the season he'll be great on the bottom pairing with Myers or Stech. Would be nice if he's top 4 capable, but it looks like he hasn't really developed offensively in the KHL. Maybe his D game has improved though. I dunno

Side note, in checking his stats on elite prospects, there's a "rumour" transaction notice posted today ....

      Phil_314

True, Lazarus Loui has been quite the revelation on the 2nd line, both in terms of not being a liability anymore and actually contributing and gelling with his line-mates.  Jake and Brock also appear interchangeable which can only be beneficial for depth.

Makes me wonder if we should still try to fix the 4th line though?  I know we have a couple of the better guys (Beagle was the 4th line center for a Cup winning team, Motte has also shown good energy and Sutter is serviceable) but we could use a cohesive grind line that doesn't get buried.  If we could find a guy who could be part of a unit which could lug the puck up ice, play physically, kill time, fore-check and score some (and hopefully we can shed cap along the way) then I think we could go quite far with this kind of top-12.
