Went skiing today for the 1st time this year, and I feel great. I love everyone right now.

I like it @StealthNuck - very clean. I'm a big fan of whitespace.

Is the "lack of pushback" about about building a playoff team? Seems like the guys are far more committed to a win than reacting to cheap shots, and you do need to have that mindset to overcome everything to win in the playoffs. Maybe thats the design here.

The common thread is that they've won all the games where their players have taken noticeable cheap shots (Pettersson vs. Florida, Baertschi vs. Vegas, Stecher vs. Chicago, Boeser vs. Colorado).
I think we'd all like to see some more physical push-back, but if they keep responding to that kind of crap with wins, I'll take it.

@StealthNuck we're gonna need more bandwidth

Granlund needs to be put in bubble wrap otherwise we'll need to bring Gagner back!

@Jimmy McGill Yeah, someone in Toronto interviewed Gagner a little while after he was sent down. He claimed Benning didn't speak to him, which was true, but Gagner tried to spin it like Benning didn't have time for him. What actually happened was that Green was the one who told Gagner he was being sent down, Gagner was offered the chance to speak to Benning about it then but Gagner declined.

what happened to Nilsson? cap friendly has him listed on the IR this morning.

Not one for gossipy-rumours..but I hear Nlisson argued with Roussel about bad pims. Ruse then ran down his Missus, with the language of love. Nils flipped the banned-Byrd, & AR promptly hacked it off!
Again, this is just 2nd hand hearsay, & not usually my style eh? But what'll we do?!
Then it moved onto the wives of twitters(tbc)....

Vancouver has a good online vote planner if you're feeling overwhelmed by the # of choices today: https://vancouver.ca/plan-your-vote/index.aspx

Can there really ever be enough stories about the Leafs?

The obvious answer for why they get coverage is because they get ratings. The more interesting question is how they get those ratings. You don't have to be good or even popular to drive ratings but you have to be something that people care about. I think the hatred for the Leafs actually drives ratings for the networks. In response we should treat them with indifference. Now how do I convince people to stop hate-watching the Leafs.
-
@Toews oh for sure. CBC has used that for as long as I can remember, piss on Vancouver to get them mad and watching while being fluffers for whoever is coming to town for the HNIC game. Works like a charm.
-
You can stand up for your players and win the game, its not either or.
-
Yes, but what people last night wanted was to hurt Matheson. I think a fight would have sufficed. I don't believe in diverging all of your attention towards one player and trying to injure him. The lack of response was concerning I guess, but in their defense the hit was behind the play and they don't have the luxury of replay like we do.
-
So much to like from the 1st two games this season. We could easily be up 2-0.
-
"Pettersson! Pettersson! Pettersson!" I'm still buzzing from last night.
-
So that 2nd power play unit... maybe go with just one this year?
-
how about we don't care about wins and losses this year and just enjoy the development piece? #playthekids

Oh man, I give up. Just trade the poor guy.

@WarhippyThat's why I said 2nd round pick and a decent prospect instead of a 1st round pick or a blue-chip prospect.
Since the Canucks have a Top 3-5 prospect pool now they can afford to part with a "B" level young forward and a 2nd round pick in order to free up 6 million in cap space to bring in a new top free agent to replace Eriksson.

Is it just me, or has Bob McKenzie had nothing interesting to say about the Canucks for years now?

Where do you fit on the
global income spectrum? Interesting calculator link:- Show previous comments 6 more

I'd guess my household (still with my parents for now), is probably very high since we have three full-time workers and a part-time worker in my mom. Individually, I'd guess at about 90th percentile or so.
Results:
Family: 94th percentile globally, 70th percentile in Canada
Individually: 97th percentile globally, 90th percentile in Canada
Very surprised to see myself so high individually in Canada, but I guess that goes to show how blessed I am. Great reminder on how grateful we should be with what we have. Thanks Jimmy.

Need some help understanding the reserve list from the cap guru's out there. Two of our guys (Tryamkin and Zhukenov) are listed as "indefinite" for a date we need to sign them by... how does that work? Doesn't there have to be a specific date or does their going to the KHL extend the must sign by date?

Couldn't find anything official, but from what I can tell, because the KHL doesn't have an official transfer agreement, the NHL team retains the rights to a player that signs there indefinitely. However, (and this is where I'm using blind trust from a post on the internet) if a player signed any sort of contract with the NHL club at any time, that player can become a UFA when they are old enough to become a UFA (so 27).
My expectations would be that Zhukenov is Canucks property for as long as they keep him on their reserve list. Tryamkin will be until he's 27.
-
So looking at the CBA this is why I don't think Nik is considered "defected" - so maybe CF is correct and we have his rights indefinitely.
p33 of the CBA
10.2 (b)(i) (C) A Player who plays out his final season and enters into a contract for a period including the following season with an unaffiliated club or with any other professional hockey club shall not be deemed to be a "Defected Player"
and then on p34 of the CBA:
Application of League By-Law Section 15. Anything to the contrary in this Section 10.2(b) notwithstanding, until all of the conditions specified in Section 10.2(b)(ii) have occurred, the Club with which any Player covered by Section 10.2(b)(i) was last under SPC, or in the case of defected Players referred to in Section 10.2(b)(i)(C), the Club which now or hereafter owns, through an NHL Entry Draft or through a proper transfer or assignment from another Club or otherwise, the professional rights or the right to negotiate for said professional rights, shall be deemed to continue to hold such professional or negotiating rights and the provisions of League By-Law Section 15 shall be applicable.

@Western Red lol, thanks?
It's crazy though, how much of the food supply is large factor in the overall health crisis in North America. I mean, most of it is propagated by poor dietary choices and lack of exercise by many, if not the majority, but if not for the temptation of that quick and cheap and crap food, the same people who make those poor choices would still have far fewer health issues.
