@Alflives i dunno... now 1040 is saying it is Sbisa.
If it is Sbisa leaving I hope Jim takes a good run at Alzner, he'd be a good partner for Stecher or Guddy.
-
@S'all Good Man And you trust Sekeres as a good source? lol
-
@RRypien37 i know... i carry shame now...
-
Drance saying things with Jacye Hawryluk trending positive to a potential signing... him and Motte together could be dynamite.

Glad Sautner cleared waivers and isn't the newest Coiler.

Toronto is going to limp in to a wildcard spot and get crushed in the 1st round.

If I continue to work for a client i don't like because the money is good, does that make me a ho?

@S'all Good Man At least you're a high priced Ho.
This thread gave me a lot of laughs. +1 to everyone

If Motte gets moved due to contract issues, do we have anyone that can take over for him? I'm concerned about our PK if he's traded.

Yeah, I'd like to see Dickinson moved. He won't be moved this deadline because he's injured but I could see him being moved out similar to Nate Schmidt in the offseason for a pick.
I think Jasek will come back. Canucks have his rights until he is 27. He is 24 so he'll have to play at least two more seasons abroad before he can become a UFA. He just put up 50 points in 52 games in the Liiga. I just don't see why Jasek wouldn't test out the waters one more time now that new management/coaching is here. I feel like he'd actually be given a fair shot at 4th line minutes. Ironically, had he re-signed, he probably would've been called up by now. I don't think it's a big IF rather a WHEN.
-
I've only seen Lockwood play once, but he definitely has NHL skating ability. He may be one of those guys who looks okay in the AHL, but might raise his game when matched with better players in the NHL. I do worry that his rambunctious play results in injury, but he looks to have the tools to be a good bottom six forward.
-
If things don't change, why would Brock want to stay here? I'm concerned that we're going to demoralize our best players and lose them for good.
-
Would you want Toffoili at 5.25 or Hall at 6?
-
Gaudette and Boeser are a poor fit. Prove me wrong.

Both of these players are young and finding chemistry with certain players takes awhile,Brock is a shooter and if he gets the puck at the right time could be very effective.
Adam G. is also a shooter, but as a center has to be looking to pass the puck but if players aren't finding open spaces why take a chance of giving up the puck. His wingers need to be open so Adam can dish the puck at the right time for a good chance on net.
As a third line center Adam has come along way and will continue to grow chemistry and the smarts to use his wingers more,a little confidence can go a long way.

Does Puljujarvi get traded today?

@Where's Wellwood Deadline for RFA signings. If they don't sign by 5pm, they're ineligible to play in the NHL this season.
-
Eriksson for <other teams crap> is not a good trade idea. Ever.

whats the highest pick we can get in a trade for a player over 25 on our team?

Tanev- late 1st (Toronto, Winnipeg, NYI)
Markstrom- late 1st (Calgary, San Jose, Columbus)
Pearson- mid 2nd (anyone basically, probably keep him for now)
Sutter- mid-late 2nd (Pittsburg, Colorado, Edmonton)
Im positive that Benning will want to do something though, considering its a hometown draft and he keeps talking about it.
-
Realistically I see the Canucks having a chance to win 4 or 5 more games this season: NJ, OTT, LA, maybe EDM and NYR.
So right at 73 pts again. But I still think the team has improved, is more competitive and has a better base to build from.

@VanGnome yeah my political party and hockey team are imploding at the same time.... I wonder if there's a connection?
-
@Jimmy McGill I don't revel in the implosion of any federal party, certainly not when they are in sole governance of the country, but it does say something that it's all coming apart at the seams, what it is saying exactly I'm not sure. If nothing else, I think it simply illustrates how untenable it is to govern from one extreme to the other and highlights that there needs to be a better way forward.

Is it just me, or has Bob McKenzie had nothing interesting to say about the Canucks for years now?

what part of the Shanaplan is this?

LMAO right now:)

There's no way we can out-tank AZ or BUF for a guaranteed top 5 this year. So if by some miracle we're close to a wildcard spot by the TDL do we keep the team intact?

I think there are only a few real candidates to be dealt in any event - Vanek and perhaps Edler or Hutton - so my guess would be a continuance of the transition process we've seen the past three years.
My opinion/guess will be that they'll probably make the transition move and deal Vanek to a contender for a future if they're not realistically competitive at the deadline - if the payment warrants it and assuming he wants to go. If JB is offered pittances like was the case with Hamhuis, I don't think we should be in the business of gifting contenders with cheap rentals or broadcasting that we're desperate for marginal futures unless Vanek indicates that he wants a shot at going deep in the playoffs, in which case I think he should be accommodated.
I think it will also depend on the health of this roster at that point. If the team is healthy and surging, you simply don't sell - it is baseline unprofessional. If it's unhealthy and/or not showing signs of real competitiveness, I'd lean to selling even if it may be close to a playoff birth.
It seems to me that Yzerman was in that type of position last year - borderline in the race for the playoffs - but not healthy/missing key elements, so he sold Boyle, a deal that I think was wise for TB and a headscratcher for a young, rebuilding team wasting a good future on a rental. If the team were 3-5 out but missing Tanev and/or Horvat and/or Sutter for example, I might lean the way Yzerman did.
-
@oldnews I think thats pretty accurate, to me its going to hinge a lot of Sutter's health, I can't see the team being competitive without him.
That Boyle deal is still funny.

Sorry your bro is a moron, Jim. He means well, but that's of little comfort to your dad. My mom has really bad arthritis and can barely walk at times. I'm drawing a blank on the drug she takes to manage it, but it's an injection. She keeps thinking about going one rung up to a new one that might stop everything where it is and make her feel better, but the side effects are much more dangerous.
@Two one one Yeah I'll give you that, but so do many highly intelligent people. I find him only to be dramatically pompous, and I can overlook that quite easily as I find the topics he speaks about quite interesting.

@Shift-4 it was good. Not too crazy.

James Neal's contract is worse than LEs. Let that sink in.
- Show previous comments 10 more
-
Lets just say all three contracts are major busts.. no need to sugar coat anything.
I think LE knows the fans are pissed at him and his contract, but what can the guy do?
He has been injured for most of the contract, and was essentially brought in to play with the Sedins
who are no longer here...
So blame management if anything.
-
@RRypien37 @Stelar I'm talking about the way Neal was talked about when they signed him and still think they have - Calgary thought they were getting a player with grit. This is the kind of thing the Cowgary media says about him: Neal plays with a grit and heaviness and has playoff experience that Bill Peters’ squad doesn’t have a ton of — intangibles that tend to become more valuable when you’re trying to wear an opponent down during the course of a best-of-seven series.
https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/flames-thoughts-can-james-neal-return-form-time-playoffs/
As far as Loui goes, if you want to complain about him go ahead, but he is a solid defensive player with 1/2 the offence we wanted. Sure thats not good, but its not the complete bust situations of guys like Lucic and Neal.
-
What would you trade to SJ for the rights to Karlsson so we can negotiate with him now?
-
how about we don't care about wins and losses this year and just enjoy the development piece? #playthekids
