  1. Q For the legislature nerds: when do the MLAs have to officially sit post-election?

Just wondering if anyone knows how long Clark has before she has to call the legislature together? I know a sitting gov't can cancel a sitting, but what are the rules right after an election? Just wondering if she was weeks or months.

I just looked up the Parliamentary calendar.  The next session is scheduled to start October 2nd and run to the end of November.

thx - i just looked up the BC Constitution Act and it says they have to sit at least once every 12 months, so theoretically Clark doesn't have to call a sitting until next March.

I bring it up because I think it will be leverage in the negotiations with the Greens.

My guess, unless something radical happens with the absentee ballots, the Greens will give basic backing to the Liberals.  They have probably spent every dime they have and need time to build up donations again before going back to the polls.  A quick election could be disastrous to the Greens.
