    Did Matthews win the 'who's the best generational player' debate, with McPouty's meh playoff  performance? Is Matthews the more complete player?

      I hope this proves to the naysayers that it's a tough gig to win a cup.  That even having the best of the best doesn't guarantee anything.  With that, it's early and patience is required.  But that is the message here...don't give up on players too early.  Our fanbase is quick to connect "losing" a cup to being losers.

      I still think Yzerman was the most complete player of his era, but would take Mario or Gretzky over him every time.

      true, but McD isn't as dominant as Wayne was and its a very different style of game now.

       

      I just have to wonder if 10 years from now we'll be talking about McD = Ovi and Matthews = Crosby
