  1. Would you rather get Evander Kane or James Neal if both were available?

@SabreFan1 I'm not following you. I am drawing a blank as to the last time a move like that happened, but it wouldn't make Buffalo look bad at all. A team that wants to acquire Kane tells Botterill that he'll pay XX pieces for Kane under such and such terms of contract. Botterill talks to Kane's agent who likes the deal, Kane likes the new team, signs the deal and the trade call is made.

Am I nuts? Does this not ever happen? Yes to both, perhaps.

I should have phrased my earlier comment better though. I shouldn't have said that Buffalo would be stupid not to sign and trade him, just that they'd be stupid not to trade him if he's still unsigned come deadline day, but I think most of us expect that to happen anyways.

I think it's more likely Kane gets signed by the team he's traded to as part of the negotiations.

      Like Burr did last TDL.

Too many logistical issues with a sign and trade, player and agent would never trust a GM they haven't spoken to yet. Any player that would agree to a sign and trade is most likely hoping for offers during free agency anyways so it wouldn't make sense. GM could pull out of the trade last minute and hamstring Botterill with a bad contract. Not to mention the league interference that would probably occur in a situation like this.
