  1. Toronto is going to limp in to a wildcard spot and get crushed in the 1st round.

Teams often learn from early exits. The 70s Islanders were playoff chokers until they won four straight in the early 80s. The early-mid 90s Red Wings were still the "Dead Things" (including a humiliating loss in 1994 to the Sharks) until starting a great legacy in 1997. The Capitals lost in the 1st and 2nd round too many times to count in the late 2000s and early 2010s until finally winning it all in 2018. The Lightning were humiliated by the Blue Jackets in 2019 before winning 11 straight playoff rounds. I think the Leafs will learn a lot and already showed progress by giving the Lightning a serious fight this past year.

Those teams all had excellent management and coaching.  Toronto has an unqualified analytics dweeb as a GM and an AHL coach who lets his best players float.  The Laffs don't have any hope of winning a playoff round until they replace Dubas with someone who actually understands the sport.

@-AJ- I don't think the examples you cited are comparable.  70s Isles and 90s Red Wings are pre-cap era.  Caps and Lightning teams all had at worst, a true NHL starting goalie; and at best, elite level goalies; both of those teams also boasted strong D-corps.  The Leafs, thanks to Dubas's mismangement, have nothing close to resembling either.
