its funny how far apart most of CDC and the hockey media are on the Guddy extension. My bet is behind the scenes the Leafs wish that they hadn't tried to lowball Jim.

Yeah. The last time I was there they played Tool, NIN, Rage Against the Machine, Soundgarden, Depeche Mode, the Cure, New Order, and many more songs well into the night.
I defy a club in Vancouver's generic downtown core to boast that kind of breadth of music now.
Another great thing about Luv-A Fair was that it was a place where anyone was welcome, and everyone felt welcome.

symbolism is amazing. We can be shown videos of improper shootings and it comes and goes in the news cycle as if it was fiction. But someone drops a knee and the world goes apesh!t.

@nickels You lack even rudimentary reading comprehension. I'm sorry your teachers so utterly failed you but it's not my job to fix that.

why are people mad at Petey on the twitter?

@kanucks25 this has nothing to do with race, or white males. It has everything to do with the a very small percentage of the population being offended by just about everything, and having their insignificant opinions multiplied by the absurd powers of social media.

I said it at the TDL... ANA should have traded for Miller.

@SabreFan1 - show me any goalie who'd do better vs CHI that year, and with the D falling apart in front of them? Miller's given a pretty unfair rap on that serious imo. They did win the 1st 2 games.... anyway my point was for how cheap they could have got Miller, it was dumb not to get him and at least have the option of not relying on Bernier, who choked pretty hard in the 1st period last night. I'd put Miller in over him based on experience and playing well with a much inferior D group to ANA.
-
I didn't care either way who won that series so I didn't even watch a few of the games including the final one, but it pretty much goes without saying that just by virtue of letting that many goals in, Bernier choked.
My experience with Miller watching him every year for the last 15 years is that, with the exception of his peak couple of years much earlier in his career, he's very much a "what you see is what you get" type of player. His play doesn't elevate suddenly when he gets into the playoffs like it does with other players in the league.
He never clicked with St. Louis that year. He played poorly in the regular season and that continued straight into the playoffs where he actually got slightly worse. It was an unholy match made in Hockey Hell.
Would Miller have played well in Anaheim during the regular season and carried the Ducks into the Cup finals come playoff time this year? Who knows? Anaheim didn't want to take that chance or they would have traded for a goalie before the TDL.

Would you rather get Evander Kane or James Neal if both were available?

@SabreFan1 I'd say asking STL for any combination of Thompson, Thomas, Kyrou, or Kostin in return for Kane with salary retained would be fair.
-
@TheHitman They might actually go for a trade if they think Kane could put them over the top. The Blues have been knocking on the door in the playoffs for years now. They just haven't been able to get over the hump. Kane's aggressiveness would do a lot for them.

Someone explain the attraction of weed smoke. To me its very off putting, like a skunk pee'd in my face. More than anything thats whats keeping me away from trying it (since I was a teen).

My thing is I hate smoke, period. I smoked (heavily) for awhile but just hate any kind of smoke as it's an irritant to me. And the smell of weed is putrid.
I AM fully on board with exploring the medical properties should I ever need to. It's much more natural than the chemicals they pump at us through the pharm industry. I steer clear of them, so would be inclined to go that route.
We partied, hard, when I was young and so I'm trying to make up to my body for all that abuse early on.

Do you think that am I a paid poster? I was accused today of being a paid poster, a lackey for the corporate interests of the Canucks. What say you CDC?

Luongo made his choice. Lets leave the rafter space for someone who's heart is here.

I hear what you're saying @Quantum but if you're going to give someone an ongoing honour like that it needs to be about more than the games. Also, holy crap did the Canucks org do a good job on the Sedin night.

To make up for the horror of this thread, I will rid you of a certain Sam In exchange for a gentle Ben.

So HNIC is saying Juolevi is being kicked around as part of a deal for Duchene? I don't know how I feel about that....

So you're suggesting giving up 3 assets for a centre who will fill a top 6 hole for 2 or 3 years until Pettersson is ready? I just don't see that happening in a rebuilding team.
Benning added centres Gagner and Burmistrov this past off season. There is also Sutter and Granlund who may fill the role. Granted, none of these players are locks to fill a top 6 role.
Green has been playing Sutter a lot in a shut down / match up role and they are getting a lot of minutes. Then there is always free agency if they don't think they have the right piece when Sedin retires.
-
@Crabcakes when you put it that way... i guess not. Montreal is likely getting very desperate so thats probably where he ends up.

Would you be upset if Hutton got picked off waivers?

Megna and Chaput on waivers. Rodin cleared. And the sun shines.

@coastal.view its symbolic. its relief that we won't be seeing our coach make a joke out of the 1st line again. Sure its a bit unfair to Megna but he's also making a lot of money so.....
-
All we are saying, is give Lou(i) a chance..... lets see how he does for 10 games before going postal? what say you CDC?
-
SN 650 reporting Edler willing to waive for expansion. Does that change your willingness to 3 years from 2?
-
Burke is threatening to take the Flames out of Calgary The badger really knows how to tweak a fan base.

Loui is to otherwise reasonable CDC members what the Ring is to Gollum.

If you're at the game tomorrow, dont boo Kesler, if for no other reason than to show respect for the Sedins.

@Shift-4 that'd be something... "#17 Ryan Kesler!!!" (stands are empty)
***next guy announced*** everyone comes back and resumes cheering
Stay classy Vancouver.

@Nuxfanabroad let's Luuu him lol

Do the Rangers make a big move for Miller today?
-
I guess Marchand is going to have to whip it out and do something super nasty before the league will do anything. Licking other players is disgusting.
-
Is Gaudette a good enough C prospect that we bypass Glass for Makar?
-
Oh man, I give up. Just trade the poor guy.

@WarhippyThat's why I said 2nd round pick and a decent prospect instead of a 1st round pick or a blue-chip prospect.
Since the Canucks have a Top 3-5 prospect pool now they can afford to part with a "B" level young forward and a 2nd round pick in order to free up 6 million in cap space to bring in a new top free agent to replace Eriksson.

Jake on LW full time - who says no?
-
650 saying Ferland doesn't want to come here. Why am I not broken up about it?
-
who cares if Jake went to Vegas during his break? the local media is making it sound like he showed up to a game drunk. And they claim "the fans" will be outraged. Sometimes I really hate our local hockey media trying to stir up bs.

@PhillipBlunt - it was 650 trying to make it a thing. What really annoyed me is them trying to make it a "fan" issue, like we're the ones that would be outraged or something. It was 1040 worthy.
-
Have been trying to figure out a trade that makes sense to all sides that doesn't involve Miller. Its hard to do.

@JM_Don't like how that'd reflect on the team, in general. They asked a lot from JTM when he was obtained, & he really delivered. Then he watches his previous team go on two great runs.
Would accept dealing him to a decent/stronger team, if the return were worthy. There would have to be at least 2, pretty significant future pieces comin back our way.
-
If Miller is moved it's in a hockey trade, not for futures. He's been full value as a Canuck, which is exactly why he's the best trade piece we're mostly likely to move imo (the other top being our 1st which should be untouchable imo).
He's on a good contract and he's produced during his time here, but he'll also be 29 in March and due for a respectable raise from the 5.25M he's currently making. I'm just not keen on giving big dollars and term to players entering their 30's if it can be avoided. His contract and production would net us a great return.
The guys in the room would miss him, no question, but they know it's a business. The key part would be making sure the return is a piece that legitimately upgrades the current team. If we can swing that I don't think there'd be any bad blood over his departure. Gotta give to get.
-
Considering the hauls for previous trades in league history (e.g. Ryan O'Reilly for Tage Thompson, two roster forwards and two picks, Ryan Kesler for 2 roster players, 1st and 3rd) and how Miller's scored at a higher clip (albeit being a lesser defensive player), I would not be surprised if the GM at the time of the trade only moves him for a similar return (e.g. young, defensive D-man; strong RH faceoff C, and at least a pick). He also has leverage to not sell short since Miller has term, is contributing and is in no hurry to leave.
