  1. 3 years, full NTC, and making year 3 be mostly July 1 bonus money should be more than fair. If Seattle picks him he can take a 5 or 6 million dollar cheque, retire and go home.
  2. he is, and he's probably being offered $12 million bucks over 2 years, maybe more. Losing a younger player to expansion is a real concern for us. Eddie can take the money for 2 years, become a UFA and not have to sign with Seattle. Once the expansion draft is over we can re-sign him for 1 or 2 more years then if he has anything left in the tank.
  3. I think thats a great name for a new Canucks blog
  4. John Shannon on 650 this morning said he'd give Edler a 3 year deal full NMC.... good thing he's not the GM. Edler is great, but we can't afford to lose a young defence man over him. Or if for some reason Jim goes the 8 player protected route depending on where the roster is at, its even more important that Edler doesn't have a NMC, even if it means a temporary 'downgrade'.
  5. that would certainly protect him from Seattle
  6. but they've tried that, several times. They become far too easy to shut down. Hence the one scoring line. If they lose RNH too then they will have bled off their remaining F talent other than McD and LD.
  7. chances are nothing happens, but Edmonton has to do something. Yes giving us the 8th oa is steep, but look at it this way: they give up a player that likely doesn't make an impact on their roster for 2-3 years, shed Lucic, create cap space for renewal. Or, miss the playoffs again. They are also running with a KHL goalie as their #1. It has train wreck written all over it. If Holland stands pat and does nothing they'll be calling for him to be fired too a year from now. Jim should offer our 4th for Lucic and the 8th oa and Holland should feel lucky to have it.
  8. If we take on Lucic and give Edmonton cap space, that gives them the chance to really set up their top 6 for years. Right now its a one note wonder. If we're going to do that it has to come with a big benefit to us. Edmonton has no leverage and one potential trade partner.
  9. man you are really hanging on to that blame and excuse narrative.
  10. or just dangling the one and only trade potential just to see what Edmonton would give up for us to take him. You never know, Holland might give up a player like Bouchard or a high pick to clear off that massive anchor contract. Edmonton is a tire fire and there's nothing happening there that says they'd be any better off next season.
  11. Garrison waived for Tampa, i.e. way more money in his pocket and a cup contending team. So yeah, that would be a "pull" situation that benefitted him. Edler didn't want to sign with Calgary and live there for 3 years, can't say I blame him. But keep up the search for "fault" like that has any relevance at all in these negotiations.
  12. no, it doesn't happen all the time. Guys are happy to go to new situations, thats a "pull" not a push. You're angry over a myth of your own making.
  13. oh please, that tired line is just lame already. You can't push people out that have NTCs thats the whole point of them.
  14. this one. Jim had a deal lined up with Calgary that Edler passed on. Maybe do some checking before going full Benning freak out.
  15. I did see that, its hardly what the .me site says tho. Maybe Elder needs to have the chance to talk to other teams and find out no one will give him expansion protection. That might be the best thing for everyone.
  16. dog poop for one. I'm not going to use my hands in 2021.
  17. I'm actually satisfied either way It would just be the perfect ending for me, to see Toronto's hopes crushed early and then have Boston lose game 7 in doubt OT.
  18. whoa there big fella, I'm just the idea guy. Plus I'm probably corruptible so there's that.
  19. depends on how its done, it doesn't have to mean that. If we retrofit gov't buildings e.g., with the correct green tech it will pay itself back over time. The right infrastructure investments pay back more in GDP if done right.
  20. the guy who gave out the NTCs was fired, you should be happy.
  21. So is there an actual credible link to this? where did Friedman supposedly say this? If true and Eddy gets the contract he wants elsewhere I'd be happy for him tbh, he's given his all here.
  22. it does. I am worried about the deficit, but on other aspects of the economy the gov't has been competent. I'm hoping this ban isn't just green washing and will actually come with some stimulus to the recycling industry, and other green industries for that matter. You want job growth, thats where I'd begin.
