we'll have to wait for the grandkids on that one.

you mean where it picks up after Harper left? c'mon man, lets not do the Fox news thing here, the number are what they are.
-
Find me a conservative PM thats ever not run up the debt. Just one.
-
did Friedman actually say that though?

just forgive him and find peace with it. He'll do something eventually to piss you off and you can start fresh disliking him this idea seems to have legs, in the media anyway. I can't see us retaining both Lucic and Eriksson so a lot is probably riding on Jim's conversation this week with Loui and if there's any interest at all from other teams in Loui. There's been a lot of speculation that Ottawa would want him but I'm not so sure, there are other bad contracts with shorter time frames and/or teams willing to give up more picks than we are that can fit the bill nicely for Ottawa to reach the cap floor.

I got hooked on phonics once. Its a gateway to Latin.

isn't that the fake version of the nhl rumours site?

I totally agree, but its not going to mean much unless we actually start heavily investing in a real recycling industry.

disagree? with the actual data? weekly wage growth was stalled at zero when Harper got the boot, its climbed up under Trudeau and has been between 2 and 3 %. How can you "disagree"? https://tradingeconomics.com/canada/wage-growth

[Speculation] Lucic says he would like to play here
JM_ replied to Provost's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
sadly I don't think it would take you long to find a taker for that offer..... but on the trade front, would anyone think taking on Loui + Lind would be a great deal? probably not. The Oilers are in a place of ZERO leverage. None. Less than none really given they can't even buy Lucic out and make it worthwhile. And Lucic has made his preferred destination public. There's no reason to take him for anything less than the 8th oa, or a prospect like Bouchard. If thats too steep then great, enjoy the next 4 years and losing a F to Seattle too. -
well, there hasn't been a conservative PM yet that didn't raise our debt, since we started using debt as standard policy in the 1950s. Real wage growth is better today than when Trudeau took over from Harper (see: https://tradingeconomics.com/canada/wage-growth) I agree on the deficit, that doesn't thrill me at all, but Trudeau and Scheer are on pretty much the same timetable to balance it. There are lots of reason not to like Trudeau, but the economy isn't one of them, particularly when you put it in context.

again, its the right wing thats pushing for new bathroom laws. Its hard to separate our society from our social media these days, thats where so much of our discussions and ideas are bring played out now.

sorry for the further derailing from the plastic issue but I can't help it. @Ryan Strome you can't even call Trudeau a tax and spend liberal anymore Is Trudeau a 'tax-and-spend' Liberal? The numbers say no https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/trudeau-taxes-harper-budget-1.5164976

(Rumour) Poolparty wants out of Edmonton
JM_ replied to Nucksfollower1983's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I don't know that its worth it tbh, how much separation is there between 8 and 10? I guess if he's super high on Broberg? I disagree that we shouldn't be going for the 8th oa outright. We have no reason at all to help out Edmonton, and it would be a massive help to them to shed that contract. Loui isn't the piece of garbage that so many seem to paint him as. Just based on last year numbers Loui would be Edmonton's 4th 5th highest scoring F. Put him with RNH and you'll see those numbers climb and greatly improve Edmontons PK. -
you're totally on point there Ron. Banning is the easy part.

I still think we need a pick back in that deal to balance out the value and risk. -

sure but Goldy repeated the performance in Utica too. I just think there's more to Goldy than we've seen or give him credit for. -

thats the way in Edmonton tho, so how much of that is their crap team culture? I dunno. If JP doesn't get moved he's destined for classic tweener status. Who knows, maybe as training camp draws to a close and it looks like a waiver loss something might give. But as of now I don't see how JP nets Edmonton much back in trade on his own. If the deal was just Lucic + JP for Loui and Goldy I'd be pissed as I think Edmonton gets the better of us in that one. -

oh i agree I'd like to see JP get a chance to develop here. I think he'd probably have a very low scoring year while Green teaches him how to play away from the puck, but after that I could see him getting much better. Goldy also happened to be a ppg player in the AHL in Utica, and very close to it in SJ in his 2nd year there too. -
people on the left tend more to the artistic, so that could be the drama explanation what I don't like about the focus on the lefty anger is that its a massive distraction from the real things actually happening. Trump uses twitter masterfully in this way. He and his team know they can tweet out one stupid thing, the left wing leaning media outlets obsess on it, and meanwhile that day he appoints a string of alt-right leaning lower court judges or guts something at the EPA, and those real things get zero coverage. Media like CNN are probably the best gift Trump can have for actually implementing his agenda.

how do you figure that? he's not even close to being a ppg player in Bakersfield. -

Goldy is actually doing marginally better. He may actually fit the Oilers system better.
