I don't know if it helps, but I did feel very much the same way. I was able to meet a great partner through work, but prior to that I did meet people by joining activity groups that I liked, particularly photography and outdoor stuff. I found that it was a lot easier to connect over an activity than places like bars where I just felt like an idiot.

I know from our discussions in the past that you're open to facts. The wage gap is a real thing, it exists. You can get the unfiltered info from StatsCan: https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/pub/89-28-0001/2018001/article/00010-eng.htm https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/statistics-canada-gender-pay-gap-1.4014954

Senate Transport Committee defeats Ottawa's oil tanker ban, Bill C-48

I think it might be working better than Trudeau intended I don't have an issue with Monsef personally, just knew when that file was given to a person with zero experience that the idea was dead. -

ah OK. I guess i wasn't paying attention maybe its like when JT appointed Monsef to run the proportional gov't stuff, I knew right then to not give it 5 minutes, it was doa. I'm actually encouraged by the new form of the senate - its made a number of really postive changes to bills, this one by far being the most extensive. It may have never worked better in fact. Given that it would take a miracle to remove it or make it elected, its great to see people standing up for their regions and constituent industries and making good changes. -

tbh I really have never paid attention to her. I can see that she gets under the skin of a lot of CPC supporters for some reason but I don't know what that is. I'm happy to see C69 has a chance of moving forward with support from all sides. -
oh for sure. I have more faith in our amateur scouting team but he does look pretty good right now at the worlds.

tbh I really wonder just how much value Hutty really has.... his QO is 2.4 mil, he's not providing above average offence.... dunno, I'm not sure he's going to bring anything back but someone else's 'special project'. If he helped up the chance at elite talent then I'm good.
-
if the stats nerds who do the draft rank value charts are on to anything, its certainly worth a 3rd in potential player value. Hutty is the throw in, I think we're done with him regardless.
-
Interesting that the 2nd round pick was suggested as the price to move from 10 to 6. I wonder if that was actually discussed with Holland before he left or just Koozma speculating? If thats the price we might be able to swing a new deal with Holland to move from 10 to 8 for something a little less, like the rights to Hutty plus a 3rd?
-
I'd much rather have him and the 22nd pick, vs. Lucic and the 8th. If he is healthy he's a good producer, much like Baer. Also concussion prone. Its a risk but at least its on the health side vs. a player thats just declined like Lucic.

the word that keeps popping into my head is 'resilience' - is Boston the fastest team? biggest? most talented? nope. But they never get rattled, play as a full team every game, and they have enough depth to deal with injuries and suspensions. I do think if we're looking for a model thats it, I hesitate to call it the Boston model because lots of other teams in the past have had this but I do think its what Benning and Green are trying to build.
-
honestly I don't see CHI making that deal. I could see Carolina tho, they clearly needed a little more offence.
-
I think he had more trade value prior to his extension. Dubie should have traded for more defence.
-
If the 22nd overall pick is coming here with him call me curious.

[Proposal] Boeser + 10th for Byram + [winger]
JM_ replied to Hindustan Smyl's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
I've started typing and re-editing about 10 times..... I can't say enough about how much I hate this deal. You don't trade guys like Boeser for picks. BB is a 30+ goal lock, and a quality human. You build teams around guy like him. We're actually building what looks to be a very resilient d core with Hughes, OJ, Woo, Rathbone all within about 2 years of each other. Not to mention whoever we pick up this year. Yes it would be nice to have had lotto luck but we're just going to have to continue with the old fashioned method.- 51 replies

I think we're overpaying a lot with that 2020 1st. We're helping out a division rival, which might hurt us for years, so its got to be lopsided in our favour.
-
marginally. For the cap hit we'd be better off just keeping Hutton.

this is a good thing. Yes I prefer Liberal governments, but not if they are going to make crappy legislation. Now they are forced to go back and get it right or let it die. Same thing is happening with C-69, over 100 amendments to that just got through committee. Even Kenney is happy: https://globalnews.ca/news/5286251/senate-committee-passes-bill-c-69-amendments/ -

We don't need pipelines. Send bitumen pellets by rail and no one has an issue. -
I think if you have time to be outraged by this, you're doing OK.

You don't need to go to a Jordan Peterson straw man, the actual numbers for evidence of the wage gap are available sans hyperbole (from either the left or right) https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/pub/11f0019m/11f0019m2013347-eng.pdf
