  1. the company does, its a free market. If you don't like MS Word anymore you're free to use something else. I think its important to ask, under what circumstances you would want to use those terms? If you're actually being prevented from free speech than yes there's a problem, if you're looking to spread hateful info then I guess you have to go find an old copy of wordperfect.
  2. I mean come on, we all know Liberals are better writers..... I think the key word here is "advice" - no one is forcing you to keep a certain word in a document.
  3. I'll say this: Clark could be Jim's best signing to date, if Marky and Demko are in the running for the best goalie tandem next year I'd say for sure. In terms of pure impact if it pans out the way its looking to Clark could be setting this team up for solid goaltending for a decade. We'll have to wait and see but thats more impact than any single FA so far by a lot.
  4. well that seals it, now theres no cap room for Benn
  5. agree on Stech, for sure. He's a great story. I don't technically disagree with Loui's stance, I do think he's been misused.... or maybe miscast?... here. I've looked at the stats, line combo's, etc. and he has a case. I don't like it when guys complain in the media, but I can imagine him being quite frustrated. His best move imo would be to go for mutual contract termination on July 2nd and he can then go out and likely get a 2 to 2.5 mil contact with a number of teams.
  6. I don't know in all the coverage of it, where you can point to anything the Sedins ever said about going anywhere, given that they said numerous times they never wanted to go anywhere and finish their careers here. It just wasn't ever going to be a thing, no matter who "asked".
  7. maybe... dunno. For some reason I don't think they would have returned that. Maybe a 1st and prospect but I don't think a team would have given up a 2018 and 2019 1st.
  8. those are great. I'm really glad Petey's getting this experience, its just going to raise his game that much more.
  9. thats why I did the exercise - we at most missed out on Girard with our pick placement. We missed out worse on F talent imo. But it set us back by 1 year. If we're playing hindsight too, if we did get 1/3 of those guys we maybe miss out on Petey and Hughes. 20/20 is a game not worth playing really, we're on the right track now with some real elite talent.
  10. @Ryan Strome I guess you have to admit that an independent senate works now, eh?
  11. The Sedins weren't going to be traded anywhere though, regardless of the plan. But even if they agreed to move in their final year i don't think the return would have been epic at that point, not many teams had the ability to take on both of them so it would have limited the market.
  12. thx. My point was we maybe missed out on 1 impact player thanks to the 'on the fly' approach. Not great, but I don't think it set the current rebuild back years.
  13. I guess you can look back that way but then who would we have passed on in the 2nd round? 2014 - we picked Demko, wouldn't want to change that, but 2015 - missed out on Aho 2016 - missed out on Debrincat and Girard 2017 and 2018 we used our 2nd. Sure we missed out on 2 of these 3 guys but so did a lot of other teams... but yeah it would be nice to have 1 of them. I do think the 'rebuild on the fly' thing was risky and this was the risk. But was it devastating like some posters like to suggest? no.
  14. that tells you a lot about what the coaches think of Petey.
  15. OK that makes sense. And it does provide some leverage for picking Pod at 10, so thats a good thing.
  16. I agree with a lot of what you're saying except for the bolded parts. We're not a joke. If you look at almost any part of the world criminal activity in all things financial is rampant. Outside of the media (and we know what most of that is worth) Canada is seen as a very stable safe place to do business. Of course there's corruption, etc. but there are far far worse places than here. On the equity part - I wouldn't be so quick to be willing to give that up, its the only bargaining chip we citizens have. We can't let that decline without guaranteed changes to affordable housing, all of the politicians will piss that away for us and not fix affordable housing unless they know they'll be voted out if equity adjustments and affordable housing don't go hand in hand. For me, if my equity goes down but it means my daughter can buy a place of her own thats fine, I'm paying one way or the other and I'd much rather have the next generation be in a situation where they can stand on their own. But I haven't seen anything from Horgan yet that shows me he's got a real plan for affordable housing for working people. Yes there is movement on non-market housing but nothing yet for working folks.
  17. thanks, I'm never quite clear on that part of the CBA its written so badly. Even the cap friendly guys didn't know what to do with Tryamkins status for quite a while. Do you know, would Pod be able to elect to put himself back in the draft if he didn't sign with us after 2 or 4 years?
  18. yup. But its the offseason so lets keep talking with the silly stuff.
  19. I guess what would we want to drop 2 to 10 this year? a $&!# ton I'd hate to lose out on Mikey or Demko but yeah they'd probably be required too. But we could throw the same package at Chicago.... would they give up the 3rd for the same package if we took Seabrook?
  20. Instead of Demko, maybe this? 10th oa 40th oa 2020 1st unprotected Gaudette for 2nd oa Shattenkirk I don't think they'd want an injured OJ, would want a young C back, and dump Shattenkrirk. Maybe we'd have to add more yet.
  21. I wonder what Horgan already knows? he's got access to all the documents (if there are any) that the public never sees.... I suspect the Liberals involved were slimy enough to do any side deals out of the record books and anything they did would hang by a thread of legality. It sucks but these people know how to get away with things, which is one of the reasons I don't ever expect people in power to ever really pay. I'd rather focus on solution and prevention moving forward. If Horgan actually digs something up and Clark ends up in jail I won't cry about it thats for sure, she destroyed any semblance of party credibility and Wilkinson couldn't have been a worse choice to succeed her. I am still worried about Horgan destroying peoples home equity and not actually providing affordable homes, but so far that hasn't happened. I would have preferred an inquiry into affordable housing but I'm not opposed to this exercise either.
  22. I'd try to add in some legit investment sources that help locals as well, e.g., allowing tax free foreign investment in affordable rental buildings until we have enough rental space to service our population.
  23. I'm not defending her in the least, but if this is going to be meaningful this has to go well beyond that. We already know what she was/is and she's gone. What do we do moving forward?
  24. I don't know if this is just political theatre or if we'll actually learn something, but a good move regardless. Might put a few people on notice but if we keep allowing things like casino's then its all for nothing.
