  1. I'm not defending her in the least, but if this is going to be meaningful this has to go well beyond that. We already know what she was/is and she's gone. What do we do moving forward?
  2. I don't know if this is just political theatre or if we'll actually learn something, but a good move regardless. Might put a few people on notice but if we keep allowing things like casino's then its all for nothing.
  3. watched my uncle die from booze, not something I'd care to experience.
  4. yeah she's in a tough spot for sure. I think the comparison to Phelps is a good one, why wasn't he injected with lactic acid to level the playing field?
  5. maybe they just need to run things in weight classes or some other fair physical measurement for trans people? not sure. But looking at some of the videos and comments it really reminds me of the anti-gay stuff we used to hear not so long ago (and sometimes still do). The Crowder video above, whats that for? reaching some kind of understanding about different people or exploitation and hey if its a little hate mongering ah well, sells ad space. We're all using computers thanks to a guy that was tried and chemically castrated because he was gay. You'd think we learned a lesson there about hating people but I guess not.
  6. honestly the PC one is the best I've tried. And its cheap so thats nice. I'm doing it to lose weight and save my liver. Limiting booze to friday and saturaday only and these fake beers actually make it work.
  7. I've been drinking non-alcoholic beer lately... and I like it.
  8. this is why I think Jim didn't pick Tkachuk. My bet is the interview did not go well, not to mention Keiths dislike of Vancouver.
  9. you can say that again. Ralph's interview about it was classy, you got a good one there.
  10. For me its still Soderstrom, Brogberg, Seider but I think thats the same general feeling. I could be over-valuing the SHL but I'm impressed with how Soderstrom did there being so young.
  11. well it is the most money he can probably make tho. If he comes to the NHL at 22 after 4 years in the KHL that bonus money is a lock. I agree totally on the interview part though, thats so important. And of course discussions with his agent. But if you can't get a firm read on that I'd like Jim to pass, I think we can get winger skill in free agency.
  12. you said the same thing about Goldy At 10 we still have the chance at a top pairing d, thats where Jim needs to pick imo. But thats why he gets the big bucks and has a staff.
  13. plus he's not a scientist, he's a "science guy". Its kind of like "stable genius".
  14. its different because he's already making pro money in Russia at a young age, and will be for 2 more years to come, so there might be less incentive to sign with a team he doesn't prefer. He can continue to make money until 22 and then sign a heavy bonus laden pro contract in the NHL. Its very different.
  15. thats true, but the Canucks have so many other needs I don't see how Jim can take the risk.
  16. he's a mechanical engineer. He's got the basic science part down just fine.
  17. No. He has 2 more years on his KHL contract. Also, for a guy touted as a "star in the making" already playing in Russia I'd be concerned about ever seeing him suit up if he didn't like who picked him. That and we have bigger holes to fill on defence. Also from a contract pov if he didn't sign with us, I think he'd be a free agent at 22 but I need a person with better cap knowledge than me to confirm that.
  18. I suppose he'd only have to get one out before the raven telegraph took over anyway and everyone finds out
  19. just to push the Sutter narrative (likely farther that it should but here goes) - he's actually been able to score off the rush as well. I understand what you're saying, but I don't see how EDM transforms into that team even within 2 seasons. I also see the value of hemming in teams in their own end with good defensive players, you can see the damage being done to Carolina with that style of play. I just think EDM having an actual quality shut down player like Sutter gives them another good tool in the box to get them to the playoffs next year, because you have to wonder how patient McDavid is. Does he want to wait a couple of more season to build what you're talking about?
  20. there was a lot of yap in EDM a few weeks ago about wanting Ralph back as GM, and he publicly stated no interest, something along the lines of you can't go back again.
  21. He had the Edmonton GM job on the table if he wanted it... oh right, thats the "bleak part". Solid move, I'd be surprised if the sabres didn't take a real step next season.
  22. I think hes proven he has that skill set with his Southampton experience. Transferrable skill set imo.
  23. Good move, was hoping he'd be the next president here. But it will be fun to watch him take Toronto out in the 1st round next season
