  1. could be, but RNH doesn't measure up to any of those guys in a shut down role. Sutter would put RNH back into more of a scoring role where he's best suited imo.
  2. most of my memories of those days were saturday morning cartoons, the folks were a little stingy on the late night stuff
  3. true, I just dont want to see 10 million for 2 years in meh players for the 8th oa. And then watch the Oilers beat us to the playoffs.
  4. get over it no I demand it. I dunno, I really don't see Milan fitting in anywhere else, not on the bottom 6, not on the PP, or PK. If he can't fit on the top 6 we shouldn't trade for him at any price.
  5. yup we did all that too. I started smoking way too young tho but we all did on the prairies then. I guess with 3 tv channels and a lot of free time thats what we did.
  6. leave out Russel and maybe. I'm not convinced that we'd have to waive either player, assuming Looch gets inspired to play again. Lucic-Petey-Brock Peaerson-Bo-Loui could be viable for a year maybe.... ugh. Whatever happens Holland has zero leverage, so he's the one that has to overpay. Taking both Lucic and Russel makes us the over-payer I think. Thats why I was looking at something more self contained like a 1 for 1 deal.
  7. I agree on the development part, I'd want him to be in Utica for most of the year if not all. I just think the knives will be out and no GM is going to do Holland any favours. Sutter gives them a nice stabilizing 3C which they really need. I don't see many teams able to offer that up to them, certainly not for a bargain and they can't go to free agency for it, they don't have the cap space.
  8. so play Bouchard on is off side? that does sound Oiler-like. Since when was Sutter replaced by a rookie?
  9. I'm sure, with that salary and a NMC he's not going anywhere.
  10. no way he makes the team out of camp imo. And who's he going to replace?
  11. I hear you... but - Sutter would be a great fit on the Coilers particularly at that price. With Larsson, Russel and Matt Benning not going anywhere next year there's no room for Bouchard who's probably going to spend the year in the AHL anyway.
  12. I think there's a tendency today with coaches and fans to want to rush players. Jake is on a more typical curve and has been improving every year in all aspects of his game. I don't think Green is particularly patient when it comes to full line chemistry, no. He seems to like the idea of line pairings (which I'm basing off an interview of his, he mentioned liking pairs of players), two guys left to gel with the 3rd spot open for him to make changes on the fly. Thats not a great position to be in for a young player imo, it forces them to have instant chemistry while the other two get time to gel. At least thats how I see Green. And he's had some success with that model, but its not going to be ideal for everyones development. I'd much rather he just leave Jake-EP-Bo and Pearson-Bo-Loui together for a few weeks and let them develop two solid lines with a bit of time to learn off each other. Its not going to happen in 3 shifts. Willie was just an bad coach.
  13. that Green is impatient?
  14. I think it was to instil fear - she did say thats all she had left.
  15. for how long? a few shifts?
  16. it also takes away the threat of anyone ever wanting to use hostages against her.
  17. no, Loui has done a very good job in the checking line role asked of him by Green. Its just that its not where Loui made his career from. If Benning can't make any trade upgrades this offseason why not put the Pearson-Bo-Loui line back together, it worked really well for a small span at the end of the year and I think you'll see more of "World's Loui" than bottom 6 Loui. The original mistake I think was thinking he'd be a lock with the Sedins.
  18. I'm wondering if he really has to tho. Brock and Petey have skill and iq to burn, and if Jake has a couple of simple tasks to follow it might work. I think Jake can create more space for Petey and Brock, if he's left alone by the defenders he can create problems for the goalie and if someone covers him it makes space for Petey to work his magic. I'm not sure Jake needs to be a rocket surgeon for this to work.
  19. I'd like to see a Jake-Petey-Brock line experiment in training camp. Jakes size and ability to get to the net better from the left side might be something to try out.
  20. man I'm going to boo Bettman hard for this one at the draft.
  21. interesting - so with your local market knowledge, is this Benn wanting to leave story in all likelihood just BS?
  22. we used to call it "old vomit"
