I'm starting to get flashbacks of "OV" in stubby bottles now too.

oh man that takes me back, we used to steal these from my uncles root cellar (he was too pickled to notice). I can't remember my first beer but this was probably it.
-
thats a great and very healthy way to look at it.

oh man I didn't think of that... if the dragon sees Jon as the alpha then yeah it might go that way. My $ is on Arya getting it done somehow. I dunno, maybe I'm in the minority but I'm enjoying this season. If I had to complain I'd say they could have made 10 episodes but I guess they had to decide on a format 2 years ago and just go for it.

I didn't realize you were from hippy stock. I'm from dirt farmers.

who gives a 3 year old booze? hillbillies.

its interesting that Green gave Jake several long looks at LW near the end of the year. I'm hoping that becomes a real thing, a lot of people have noticed (and the stats back it up https://www.icydata.hockey/players/2063/jake-virtanen) that he plays better from there. I get the defensive argument against it, but tbh I think if he's dominating teams from that side he's not the one who'll need to worry about defence.

[Proposal]Eriksson + 10th for Lucic + Bouchard
JM_ replied to Hindustan Smyl's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
I just dont see Holland burning 1st rounders, particularly this year at 8 where he might actually get a roster player. He has done deals where he's swapped 1st rounders, or traded late 1sts for two seconds, etc. but he's not an easy mark like Chiarelli or the Ottawa gong show. Agree on the washed out part. http://www.nhltradetracker.com/user/trade_list_by_GM/Ken_Holland/138/1 -
brutally honest

Yup. Some kids just stay kids longer. There were some interesting flashes of Jakes potential this year tho, and I do think he can drive to the net maybe better than anyone on the team, even Bo, when his mind is set for it. We keep saying we need more size on the team, and Jake has that along with great speed. I don't get the desire to give up on him (I do get actual hockey trade ideas but the give up thing is hard to understand).

25 year old Lucic would have been great with Petey. 30 year old Lucic is.... well 30 year old Lucic. Not worth anything resembling his remaining cap hit. I think people are enamoured with the idea that Eriksson is complete crap, therefore we must go looking for new crap to swap for him. How about no crap?

[Proposal]Eriksson + 10th for Lucic + Bouchard

that would be ideal. Don't think we get the 8th for either of them without taking a bad contract back, but maybe the 38th oa. Having 38 and 40 could present some very good options like last draft. -
certainly sounds like they are looking at this tier vs. a Panarin deal... Lee seems pretty happy where he is. Of the rest I think Hayes would be an exciting fit with Petey and Brock but how much do you really want to offer him over the 5 mil he's making now? is he a 7 mil player for 5 or 6 years? gets kind of scary if he falls off. Maybe Connolly is the bargain guy we can actually afford and maybe Beagle can sell him on coming here.

honestly I thought it would be in the $40 range.

[Proposal]Eriksson + 10th for Lucic + Bouchard

its certainly one of the ugly options, vs burning futures it might be how Holland wants to go. I don't see how Holland is going to get the pieces Edmonton needs without giving up that 8th oa but he may have other trades in mind if he's going to use that to make a deal. It would be a lot more palatable to get a top pairing young d vs. using the 8th to throw away Lucic. But this deal proposed makes no sense to me. Lucic isn't as effective as Loui and we get him for a year longer, for basically exchanging 10th oa picks to gain... what exactly? I think at 10 this year we have better options. -
Isn't that more of a question for your wife? and very soon if that starts happening no one is going to pay to watch them or have these people in endorsements, which is where the real money is. The whole concept of this thread is false. But it as also brought out a few good discussions so from that pov its been worth it.

I think when you have the chance at a real goalie pairing like we haven't seen since Lu-Schneids we foster it, and not blow that on just a 2nd rounder. We can certainly get a good player in the 2nd round but the chance of elite is low. Our guys need to learn in some playoff games now, I don't care if they get blown out in the 1st round next year they have to gain that experience for this team to take the next step. Anderson is done, he won't be taking anyone anywhere. We do have a decent pipeline in the works, there will be more added this year and next just through regular drafting. Then there's college fa's, trades, free agency - there's room to tinker if need be. So I guess the answer is yes, we're done with the high picks after this year.

I can do both

but why rush Demko? kids on a great contract, lets let him learn for 30 games under Clark and develop properly. With this deal, we stand to rush and ruin Demko and lose Marky just for a 2nd rounder. And miss any chance of playoffs too.
