  1. unless they are getting high for free and wrecking a lawn
  2. maybe we need those cartoons showing us how to be a proper subway rider? I loved the system in Tokyo, but the sheer scale of it is just not possible here.
  3. I like him as a "top 9" - a 3rd liner that can move up on occasion when needed for injury or just a different look for a shift or two. If Jake can be slotted into the top 6 next season I can see Leivo fitting in well on the 3rd line.
  4. meh the main hater is quite vocal but hardly representative. Self evident evidence boy The city was doing a trial of an electric, self-driving small bus (capacity of about 20 people i think) a couple of months ago in false creek. I took a ride on it and was pretty impressed with how it could work here to service all the routes that skytrain can't. I think we're just going to bypass smaller city rail systems like the c-train in Cowgary and go straight to these kinds of vehicles sooner than later. By going electric as well the operating and maintenance costs are driven way down, as well as no need for any construction. Exactly what Vancouver needs imo.
  5. tiny land mass, lots of people. It could become a thing here once we have smaller self-driving busses and we're not dependent on massive projects like skytrains to move people .
  6. I knew he had an injury, didn't realize it went bad like that yikes.
  7. yeah I do think thats part of it. Seemed like a decent person, hope he gets a chance somewhere. Next up... Laplante and Boucher, possibly Grandlund not because he's bad, but I don't think they want to give him a raise
  8. I guess thats the one big potential downside to Soderstrom.... will he be like Tanev in injuries as well given what you're pointing out? If the draft goes anything like the current rankings we might have Broberg available who's already got an NHL frame.
  9. thats why another team would sign him if he was released from his current deal on July 2nd. He can do what you're saying and chip in 10 goals/30 pts. With Bo (or a guy like Bo) I'd say an outside shot at 15 goals. Thats worth 2 to 2.5 mil, even to us One thing about Jake is he's not a deep thinker so i don't think he's a good fit at all on a line with Loui. Stick him on the top 6 LW and skate to the damn net. He can be a beast to try to stop.
  10. Jake can get better in this area, it would be silly to give up on him now. People seem to expect an accelerated development curve now and forget that most players don't develop fully until their mid-20s. I think thats why we're seeing a lot of young d being rushed into service when they really aren't great without the puck - I think you've highlighted Chabot on that point a few times e.g.
  11. I'd be surprised if he wasn't at least considering that option. With 9 mil left on his deal after that, I do think he could earn that or at least close to that with another team. He'd fit well on many teams at 2 mil per, particularly if teams knew well ahead of time that he'd be available and the Canucks let his agent talk to other teams.
  12. interesting idea, it would cut down on the use of the challenges. It really depends on the ref, if its an honest one then less tech is fine, if its a tool like Sutherland I want him out of the influence of the game as much as possible. I'd rather see reviews of head shots, than more ways to look at an offside.
  13. I think he was trying..... Seemed like a decent guy, hope he gets a chance somewhere. Who knows, maybe even the KHL could be some good cash for him for a stretch yet.
  14. true, was worth the cost to try. I wonder who's next for UFA status?
  15. yeah, where's my credit for supporting you? I pay my taxes too.
  16. either MMP or ranked ballot would give voters more power. Ranked ballot is simpler to manage, but it got a lot of flack in the left media because they claimed it would be better for the Liberals, but the way the polling is today it would probably be better for the NDP and Greens. My guess is in the next election the left will split the vote and hand us dimple-boy. People like to vote mad even if it works against your own interests.
  17. you're entitled to your opinion, but you speak like Benning was working alone in a vacuum. As Alf pointed out there was a mandate to do things on the fly. You seem to wilfully ignore the task he was given.
