  1. if we could somehow get another pick in the 15-25 range he might be available in that range but not likely. I think Edmonton picks a F who they think can play now or very soon. They'll ruin another kid.
  2. I don't think Jim can pass on Broberg if he falls to us.
  3. you're too invested in the position that Jim's never made a good trade, thats the part thats not logical.
  4. thats a good question. I think some of it falls on Harper for doing such a bad job of internal marketing of the industry, but thats just one piece. I really like the idea of Black's refinery idea shipping bitumen pellets by rail, that should be a project most people can support. I think people here see it as more that Horgan is fighting to find out exactly what BCs rights are and don't view it as hypocritical in the least. Also, the current version of the NDP isn't really socialist. Maybe at the rallies but in practice Horgan hasn't done that much anti-business stuff, maybe the increase in MSP premiums but thats about it. He's kept Site C and is tickled pink (no pun intended) over the massive LNG project. Horgan seems to be a dipper that knows how his bread is buttered.
  5. no man, i'm just saying I've seen many more of them than I ever have.
  6. Can someone please bubble wrap Demko?

      ugh ffs.

  7. we like to hike the area around lighthouse park in west van a lot, and this year we've seen more stellar sea lions in 2 weeks than we've seen in 10 years. We were watching about 10 of them playing and probably feasting on herring last week. Others on the path told us similar things, so it seems like there is a big sea lion boom happening even locally.
  8. but there won't be 3X or 7X the marine traffic. Its only 1 more ship per day, out of ~30 per day that are typically in the harbour area. Yes its 7 times the oil traffic but the overall impact is very small in terms of number of ships.
  9. I wonder if this is one of those scenarios where someone throws out a ridiculous number so they didn't say no but don't really want the job. And Edmonton said yes Complete autonomy and a guaranteed 25 mil. Jose Christo, thats quite the offer.
  10. he's done a better job than i expected, but he still hasn't managed to do anything on BCs #1 issue, housing. Sure sales have slowed but there's nothing new for kids to move into. There's about 8 billion in gov't owned land in the lower mainland, all of that should be put towards co-op or rent-to-own model housing that young people can afford. There's nothing stopping that. The pipeline is a distraction from that. And even when it goes in, it still won't provide enough revenue to help on the housing front.
  11. I think if an election were held tomorrow Horgan easily gets a majority.
  12. I guess with Loui the prevailing idea was he'd be with the Sedins for at least 3, and maybe more years if the twins signed an extension. Cleary that was optimistic on Jims part and probably Linden too. I think Sutter was signed with the idea that he'd be an important supporting piece to that whole Sedin window thing. Gag's.... that one I hated from the get-go. I think we're going to see some of the later round picks start to make appearances within the next two seasons.
  13. yeah could be, it obviously didn't pan out as hoped. But Pearson may make it worthwhile but I suppose you can play that game with any trade move. On its own merits you're probably correct.
  14. Horgan has to beat Weaver to make this happen.
  15. agreed, but I don't think thats possible with the current CPC makeup. The ones that would've like Ambrose are gone.
  16. But that doesn't make sense.... Black is now talking about shipping the bitumen via rail as pellets (as you know, my favourite form of bitumen ) and it wouldn't be against the crude oil ban, and some of the supply would go directly to BC. I wonder if its more a matter of scepticism that Black can actually get it done. Horgan didn't seem all that impressed: "Horgan acknowledged Black’s proposal as one option and said, “I look forward to him entering the regulatory process to see if he has the wherewithal, in terms of capital, in terms of expertise, to pull that off.” https://vancouversun.com/news/local-news/entrepreneur-refloats-kitimat-refinery-trial-balloon-into-shifting-political-winds
  17. technically Jim saved a few hundred grand on that one. But if thats the benchmark for Jim's worst trade I'll take that over a lot of GMs.
  18. for sure, and Japan. Maybe even the Aussies. I think we'll have to subsidize it for a while but better that than let it rot in a port in China. Whatever happens we can't bend to China's bullying.
  19. well, damn. He deserves better.
  20. TO would have to add for that, but it does seem like a good fit. But if the deal drags on I could see Hutty going that way, maybe not for Kapanen but for other futures. TO also can't really afford to take Baer's contract either.
  21. those 5 things can be said about almost every industry.
  22. so you mean Loui's style of play for his entire career? did you expect him to be a power forward when he got here? there are several ways to be effective in front of the net along with "driving".
  23. unfortunately thats essentially impossible on the import side. But on exports, yup we need way better markets - and more reliable partners - for our ag industry folks. If we get that out of a Scheer gov't I can maybe live with it, so hopefully he doesn't f that up.
  24. he still goes to the net a lot if you check out his shot maps https://www.icydata.hockey/players/1513/loui-eriksson interesting to compare it to Lucic who's a lot more spread out and shooting from far more crappy areas: https://www.icydata.hockey/players/1572/milan-lucic
