Philippines president said 'we will declare war'...

umm.... this has been a disappointing trade area for sure. Looking at the whole Meng situation its reasonable to look back and say that it would have been a hard road dealing with China for any leader. But he should've been pushing harder for trade with smaller Asian countries. He blew a year grandstanding on APEC and thats too bad because we need those smaller trade partners now to lessen our dependence on exports to China. I do think its finally started (particularly with Japan) but this should have been something he didn't play games on. -
they need one more or has been pointed out, maybe a guy that can skate it out better. But upgrade regardless.
-
I think you've said it all perfectly.
-
thats probably it, so worst thing Jim's done is a lateral move. Spooner is going to rip it up in Utica next season.
-
if anything its underwhelming, but I don't see anything in his history thats trading for a bad contract. I really like the Pearson deal, if we get that guy who showed up at the end of the season its a pretty nice deal for us.
-
when did Jim take a bad contract back?
-
But he didn't. It was actually 28%. 1/2 of which was when Bo was filling in as the shut down C. For the year, he had 38% offensive zone starts, that isn't an offensive role. At the end of the year with Peason and Bo on the 2nd line he had 6 pts in 10 games. Yeah thats a small sample size but no surprise that was his best line combo of the year. https://frozenpool.dobbersports.com/players/loui-eriksson The guy has done a very good job reinventing his game to be effective on a shut down role, and for that he gets called lazy, a thief, etc. For some reason Loui brings out the worst in our fanbase. I just don't get the over the top hate for the guy. I can understand a collective "meh" but the hate? its weird.

[Proposal] Loui Eriksson for Dion Phaneuf

yup Loui is on the smallish side. I just don't think DP is the answer, Schenn brings just as much at this point imo. -
The UCP Alberta Government - Threatens to Turn off Oil Taps

I live within a few blocks of the safe injection site, and several of the new rapidly built social housing buildings, its made a huge difference in the S.E. False Creek area. That kind of thing would never, ever happen under a con gov't. Thats the kind of thing that they will actively try to block, and thats unacceptable to me. -
maybe a little at least for the 8th oa, I really want that second top 10 this year.

it seems to me we live in a time where people like to be angry, and you rarely make a good decision when you're angry. But I hope you are correct. -

its his only card left. I'm not Ford or Kenney (i.e., stand-in's for "Harper"). But tbh I've already come to terms with JT being a one and done, I really think thats inevitable now. I'd bet good $ that Scheer wins a minority. For me personally that will be better for my family's pocketbook but i do have real concerns that it will encourage more far-right antics and i worry for marginalized people. But it is what it is, those folks are probably turned off Trudeau and will vote Green or NDP and split the left. My hope now is that the Lib's aren't completely decimated and a new leader like Freeland can take over quickly. -
Fair enough, I just think Tanev is better at his job than any of the Oilers current d. Maybe Hutton is a better fit?
-
hey I'm just the idea guy. But since you asked, pulling a Gillis and burning futures. I'd be looking to package Lucic with the 8th oa. Yeah its steep but frankly they have a window with McDavid and Drai on top of their games so pissing that away would be a crime. The only fast way out of that mistake is packaging the 8th. I think the Canucks are a great fit for that move, and they could get Sutter back 50% retained for those two pieces for their shut down C. Leaves them with ~4 mil in cap space left over from Lucic. For the winger, I'd be looking to offer sheet a guy on a cash strapped eastern team like TO. For the "Tanev" I'd look to sign Stralman or even Hainsey with an overpayment, which they could just afford to do.
-
I hope he gets a fresh start somewhere, the hate he gets here is way out of proportion imo.
-
they need a Sutter-type shut down C for starters to get RNH out of that role and creating secondary offence on a 2nd line. They need a big, powerful skating winger with McD. They need a Tanev-like d-man. Not saying they need our guys specifically but these are the 3 types imo.

he turned it down flat 2 weeks ago... but who knows. Maybe Edmonton has been very persuasive. He'll have a hell of a mess to clean up.

The UCP Alberta Government - Threatens to Turn off Oil Taps

I haven't had a look at the actual ruling yet, I'd be curious to know the reasoning behind the dissent. Sounds like BC saved Trudeau's butt tho: He's the bit where BC's AG saved the day. If BC hadn't intervened with the idea in para 139 I think the feds would have lost. I think Justin owes Horgan a coke. [10] Saskatchewan submits, by way of an alternative line of argument, that the Act is unconstitutional because it is concerned with property and civil rights and other matters of a purely local nature falling within exclusive provincial legislative authority. The Attorney General of Canada [Canada] responds by seeking to uphold the Act as a valid exercise of Parliament’s jurisdiction under the national concern branch of its “Peace, Order, and good Government” [POGG] power. The national concern branch of POGG applies to matters of national consequence that have a singleness, distinctiveness and indivisibility clearly distinguishing them from matters coming within provincial jurisdiction and, as well, a scale of impact on provincial jurisdiction that is compatible with the basic division of powers between Parliament and the legislatures under the Constitution. Canada contends it should be recognized, under the national concern branch, as having jurisdiction over “the cumulative dimensions of GHG emissions”. This approach must be rejected because it would allow Parliament to intrude so deeply into areas of provincial authority that the balance of federalism would be upset. Further, it would hamper and limit provincial efforts to deal with GHG emissions. [11] However, Parliament does have authority over a narrower POGG subject matter – the establishment of minimum national standards of price stringency for GHG emissions. This jurisdiction has the singleness, distinctiveness and indivisibility required by the law. It also has a limited impact on the balance of federalism and leaves provinces broad scope to legislate in the GHG area. The Act is constitutionally valid because its essential character falls within the scope of this POGG authority. [139] But, this does not end the inquiry. There is an alternative way to characterize the subject matter said to come under the national concern branch. As the Attorney General of British Columbia [British Columbia] suggests, it can also be seen as being in the nature of “the establishment of minimum national standards of price stringency for GHG emissions”. “Stringency” in this context must be taken to embrace not just the charge per unit of GHG emission but also the scope or breadth of application of the charge in the sense of the sorts of fuels, operations and activities to which the charge applies. It must also include the authority to put in place such regulatory regimes as are necessary to operationalize a minimum pricing program and to make those regimes workable and appropriate in the economic and business environments where they apply. On that understanding of things, there is a good deal to recommend this approach. -

I think there's little chance it gets through Ontario. Alberta is probably a different story. -

Moe wasn't expecting this. The SCoC is under no obligation to hear an appeal, so this thing could be dead already. -
was he saying the defensive role was "boring" or not having more ice time and sitting on the bench was "boring" - whats the correct Swedish word here?
