  1. No one, I don't believe anyone can legitimately rank that list and we look back 3 years from now and its accurate. So much depends on the development environment too, do they play 2 or 3 college years, etc. or are they rushed? I'm still very high on Soderstrom but there's been so much good info on these other guys I'm starting to get confused again
  2. I do think you are correct on that, sadly. He's the sitting prez, and the conservative voters in the US would vote for anyone on who's on the ticket, the person or the behaviour doesn't matter as long as they claim to have the same principles. The way the US is set up with the electoral college its a harder road to elect a democratic president even with millions more people in the popular vote on their side. The real battle is for the senate imo. If the democrats can get that, Trump can be curbed and controlled.
  3. if nothing else it sets them up for 2024. I like Pete, he's by far my favourite of that entire group.
  4. tbh I don't believe that he can beat Trump, or anyone else in that field, I think we're in for a full 8 of the orange clown. Maybe pre-icky gate but now its tainted with that odd behaviour. The dem's need to work on retaining the house and taking the senate with some kick-ass local candidates. Thats the only way any kind of sanity will be restored in the US.
  5. as the kids say, "wut?" I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish here by giving away Marky for an unproven d prospect. If we wanted Lucic we could probably have him with Puljujarvi thrown in as the sweetener just for Sutter.
  6. it should be Kucherov this year but it will probably got to McOverrated again.
  7. thats true, the kids see him as someone with legitimacy, he's walked the talk for 50 years. Biden tho I think won't be a big hit with the younger voters.
  8. The Larscheiders are trying to get that going, they need a little more support tho.
  9. sure "we have 150 years of experience" will be a real youth voter driver
  10. I was very pro on the idea before he was traded to SJS. He'd still be the best offensive dman we have, but the chances of his best years being behind him are pretty high. Its a tough one, few teams get the chance at adding a generational player, even an ageing one. If Karlsson actually did want to come here I don't see how Jim says no, but I highly doubt we get the chance.
  11. people point to Gardiners point totals... well, lets look at those too. Elder had 17 primary assists, Gardiner 13. The only area where Gardiner had better numbers was even strength points, but that was mostly secondary assists on a high scoring team. Comparing the two its very clear it makes far more sense to hang on to Edler and forget about TOs cast-offs. https://frozenpool.dobbersports.com/frozenpool_compare.php?players[]=1538&players[]=2673&period=2018-2019%3AR%3A99
  12. you also forgot age, speed, the fact that Edler is a better pure goal scorer and Hughes is already a superior passer and far more mobile.... I've seen a couple of people suggest we make room for Gardiner by moving Hutton to the right side
  13. fair enough, I still take the opportunity to bash Harper
  14. oh man, why you gotta bring that into this, we were all having fun
  15. I think I could live with Myers better since we need RHD.... but I really dont want either one ..
  16. 4.7 mil total for Marky and Demko for next year... thats some decent value goaltending.
  17. who the heck knows. Apparently it would have all been fine if he had "apologized". When JWR and Philpott sent out that gem I just shook my head. If thats all it would have taken for them to not blow up the party, why do it in the 1st place? its really baffling. Only think that makes sense to me is they have some pretty flawed ideas about how things work in government.
  18. Demko inked - 2 years 1 mil per

The GM's ask VC to okay their deals. HE plans Chuck Norris' training sched...

  19. Marleau is pure 1 year dump..... cap dump that is. The 2nd and 3rd are the cost for that, and Liljegren is a flyer - there was a lot to like there not that long ago, and he needs a new environment badly. Could be a sleeper. For a 1 year cap dump that really helps the Leaves it seems like good value to me.
  20. I was thinking more along the lines of Marleau, the Leafs 2019 2nd, 2019 3rd and Liljegren (kids floundering in the Leafs system) for Tanev 50% retained.
  21. entertaining too. "that blue line is no better" pretty much foretold the outcome. Yeah Muzzin was a decent pick up but not near enough. Benning and Dubas seem to have a good relationship, you have to wonder if there's going to be a serious move between us and the Leaves.
  22. but he didn't do that in Calgary, so why would he do it here? we'd be banking on him having a bounce back year at 32. Chances are he doesn't. I like the idea of PK, just not when it involves 2/3 of cap crunching us, trading high picks, and taking on older players. 1/3 of those maybe, but thats it. My 2 cents fwiw
  23. this is all so stupid. We're talking about 1/10th of the amount of containers that fit on a ship. I do love the idea of the little fool standing at the bow of a ship with angry face sailing all the way here tho that would just be awesome and worth taking it back.
  24. whens the last time all facets of a deal like that panned out perfectly? If we're willing to deal our 1st to NSH then why do we need Calgary? we should be able to structure something around the 10th oa for where Subban is at now.
  25. yeah but you're not looking at the whole concept of the post - we'd have Neal and Subban. If both end up busts we've toasted our cap for 3 seasons. With the cap the way it is, and our need to sign Petey, Brock, Hughes and some other key pieces, we cant afford a Neal-type deal. Look how Marleau's deal hamstrung the Leafs ability to upgrade their d .e.g. I think our years of purposely going out to get a bad contract for picks is over.
