  1. I wouldn't get carried away, there's something like 5,500 colleges and universities in the US, so its not even close to 1 campus radical per school agreeing with this person.
  2. Horgan hasn't actually blocked anything. Not even a single permit. The KM project isn't behind schedule due to anything BC did. The only one so far to do something unconstitutional is Notely when she stopped buying BC wine.
  3. Its also a little ironic that they want to put pressure on BC, claiming Horgan simply asking for a reference case is "unconstitutional" (which is ridiculous) by doing something... unconstitutional. I know Trudeau isn't the first politician in Canadian history to back an oil project, but in the context of recent pipeline politics to act this way for a BC project and not for Energy East is hypocritical, and in this case its backstopping a deal in a way thats never been done before, to provide assurance against so-called "political risk". How far does that go? What if BC citizens sign enough petitions to hold a referendum on this? Are we then liable to Kinder Morgan?
  4. I think some things are very clear. Kinder Morgan must try to go out and get as much as they can, they legally owe that to their shareholders. They are also former Enron exec's so you know they will take it as far as they can so you need sensible government to keep large companies in check. But Trudeau has decided that politically he has to go all-in on this project and thats one new part that really bothers me, KM is going to play that for all its worth and probably get much more than they ever should have. All sides should be bothered by that, conservative minded folks in particular. It sets a very bad precedent for taxpayer involvement, every new project is going to demand the same protection. All of the other political stances (Notley, Horgan & Weaver) regardless of how annoying are just doing what they said they would do. If Notley goes ahead with her 'turn off the taps' thing I do think that will backfire on her, BC support for this project is soft imo and that will turn many people against this project.
  5. the only thing Canada really has thats technically "socialist" is the principe of universality in healthcare and OAS.
  6. interesting opinion piece. If she's right it explains a lot of Kinder Morgan's motivations. There are so many things wrong with this project its hard to sort it all out, but I have no doubt Kinder Morgan is trying to milk taxpayers for all they can whether they need it or not.
  7. It would increase global natural gas supply by 10%... but yeah you're probably right, it doesn't quite generate the cash oil does.
  8. true dat. Hopefully we'll be able to prop up AB with natural gas export royalties soon.
  9. John Shannon tweeting that Pettersson is expected to sign soon per a Canucks source.

Does that mean he comes over to play, or could his first year of ELC be played in Europe?

      @Alflives He's coming over my friend :)

Assuming he makes the team of course. Odds are he does IMO.

      Pettersson - Horvat - Boeser

      Baertschi - Sutter - Virtanen

It's going to be a lot of fun to watch the Canucks next season.

That first line looks sexy af.

  10. all 3 governments involved in this thing have their own political motives.
  11. I don't know about the wife stuff, that all seems like pure speculation to me. If they are having a kid then going home for a bit makes sense.
  12. who does? I was (probably still am) quite po'd at Willie D's ridiculous comments and expectations from him, and I'm also po'd at Nik for turning down an NHL job. It may be for good reasons, I really don't think anyone has the full story on it. It may also be that he's not mobile enough for a faster NHL game and is better suited to the KHL. But at this point I'm happy to move on, I don't really consider him one of our prospects given the circumstances.
  13. But you'd be taking away 1040s main information source. I guess there's always twitter.
  14. thats OK, in a year Jim can trade a 5th for him.
  15. I'll settle for 'greener than' All signs point to a go for this project though, and its nearly 6X bigger than the KM project.
  16. Now this is a project I can get excited about, and have to say its nice to see an NDP government provide a tax incentive. I guess if you live long enough.... LNG Canada committing to start construction on B.C. project this year https://globalnews.ca/news/4210702/lng-canada-bc-project/
  17. you're playing with fire posting that on CDC
  18. Scheer is quite capable of generating his own unpopularity. He's also now courting separatist politicians in Quebec to join the CPC. It'll be interesting to see how that experiment plays out.
  19. Sure, but its not like the lines running to the US today will run dry as soon as the KM project is built, or that the US won't do those things either. Or China for that matter, they can play the same game too. And if it was all private money I wouldn't care as much, but its one of the last industries i want the fed's investing in, particularly the oil transport piece, there aren't many jobs in that.
  20. we do have control of our own resources. You can't stop another country from issuing tariffs if thats what they are determined to do, and Canada has never ever been a price setter for oil. If you're looking to oil for "control" you've picked the wrong industry.
  21. At least we're in another country, I feel bad for the 1/2 of the US that hates it and has a to live with this new alt-right BS and can't escape it.
  22. what? you mean you can't use trade tariffs to punish other countries for having an opinion? huh. He'll have to get in line behind the tariff punishment Trump wants to hit us with unless we raise our drug prices so Americans can have cheaper drugs.
