I agree in principle with all of that. Whats frustrating to me is Harper lagging on the R&D for cleanup, had he been responsible in that way we wouldn't be in this mess. But it doesn't do much good to keep brining that up either, other than to hope the real research work finally gets done. It would be great for everyone if they can show the stuff will float under the full range of coastal conditions (some here say that work has been done, but it hasn't, only for fresh water).
In an ideal situation to me we'd have the stuff shipped here undiluted (so no risk of inland spills, i.e. no Kalamazoo situation in BC) to a first nations owned refinery and then shipped out to market with all the necessary spill information known and rapid response systems ready to go on standby. You'd think with all Canada has at its disposal with smart people, resources, etc. that wouldn't be an issue.
