  1. Thanks, I've done it before so i know i just need to work the process. Went too heavy on the microbreweries this winter.
  2. true, but neatbit has the consistency of peanut butter and apparently hardens at temperatures under 20C so it won't cause any long term issues. If you check out the article I posted above its pretty interesting. The main barrier has been the need for oil companies to invest a little bit but I'd prefer Trudeau invest in that infrastructure than give billions to a US firm.
  3. Jimmy's trying to lose a few pounds. I'm counting calories and gettin' cranky.
  4. Id agree if we were talking about diluted bitumen but the undiluted 'neatbit' as they call it is incredibly safe to ship. If its sent that way by tanker as well its a win for everyone. China has lots of dilutent theres no need to ship it. I like win-win scenarios and this looks like one to me, and the info sources im using are from the industry not talking heads. The part about carbon emissions isn't as clear - there was 1 study done at the U of A everyone keeps quoting, but that was for diluted bitumen, and the study didn't say pipelines were less carbon intensive in all situations, for short distances and smaller loads rail was more efficient. Trains shipping "neatbit" will be more 30% carbon efficient per unit of bitumen so in that case pipelines at best would be ~30% less carbon intensive than long rail distances. Even if it is a little more carbon intensive to use rail, to not have the risk of a spill in a river or on the coast is well worth it don't you think?
  5. I have to believe there's a way to make the rail issues work out, either with some new rail lines dedicated for bitumen, or with greater efficiency. The undiluted bitumen takes up 30% less room since there's no diluent. Alberta could also ship more if it east and get around the whole Montreal roadblock. Here's another interesting read on the issue: https://www.albertaoilmagazine.com/2016/08/shipping-neatbit-rail-answer-looking-arent-looking/
  6. well, I don't know what can be done about what Harper did to the CWB. The reason i brought up the NWT option is because they want it, they are on record wanting a pipeline or rail and could ship to Asia quite easily from there. I really like the pellet idea, there's just no reason to say not to it. But yes we'd have to find new capacity for other commodities too.
  7. or term. I think its just fine to let an arbitrator decide on a 1 year deal where the team is at, makes more moves possible.
  8. I don't think people question his work ethic, but for me I don't want to see him get overpaid. He might be our 1LW but he isn't a 1LW on most teams. I'd actually be happy for it to go to arbitration tbh.
  9. Great, so no room for compromise then? and look where we are at today. Nothing is preventing the feds, AB and the NWT from putting in a new rail line and shipping undiluted bitumen overseas. Harper should have done a joint venture with SinoPec to dilute the stuff on arrival and everyone gets what they want. This pipeline-only mentality is a big part of whats got us into this mess.
  10. but its the one that works for everyone. Thats the point - there are win-win ways to get it done.
  11. yah thats that cushy R&D stuff... buncha lazy bums
  12. uh huh. I don't have MSM but you keep doing you.
  13. man thats arrogant! you think you can speak for them?
  14. no I'd say its you. If its talked about as a good option by the Cenovus CEO I think I'll take his word over yours.
  15. thats why shipping the undiluted bitumen by rail option is a great compromise. win win all around.
  16. well then you'd be wrong because thats a main reason they are stating for coming here. I guess Iranians are just too progressive for Trump.
  17. disengage for a while, the ignore button is bliss for blocking the right people.
  18. nope its Trump as told directly to my wife at the meetings. They don't feel safe or welcome in the US. Would you if you were Iranian e.g.? Or come to Vancouver where you might run into the occasional racist tool but its not coming from the top.
  19. Good article on increasing the use of rail to ship AB product - the interesting part is the discussion on shipping raw undiluted bitumen. Its safer, cheap to do by rail, and doesn't take much infrastructure to get underway. Makes you wonder why Harper didn't just do this 10 years ago instead of trying to cram pipelines down everyone's throats. Shipping raw bitumen can't cause the kinds of disasters we are all concerned about. Seems like a great solution to me. Oilpatch leaders wait desperately to ship more crude by rail with pipelines maxed out http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/oilsands-cn-cp-rail-imperial-cenovus-1.4641819
  20. what makes RS's argument so amusing is China benefits more than anyone from AB's oil if the KM line gets built. Its OK for China to benefit but BC can't buy US oil? alrighty.
  21. most of the companies are run by people with middle eastern or muslim connections. You figure it out.

I was listening to Craig Button talk about Boqvist, his knock on him was around the last item on your list. Sounds like he has not been great under pressure in his own zone, and wasn't sure if that was an issue he could develop out of or not. I would imagine thats got to be the hardest part of scouting, determining if a guy is capable of developing into a complete player. Anyway, interesting stuff, thanks for posting the list. Gives me a better sense of what 'eye test' means.

whats really interesting about your list is Hutton wouldn't do well on it (which I think is the way Green was looking at things at the end of year presser), but his "fancy stats" are actually OK.

We should make an entire thread based on this ^^ I'd be curious where you rate Hutton on these over in his thread.
