I think you are as well, which is why it bugs me that so many of us get caught by fake news from time to time (me too on more than one occasion). I have no issue at all with Suzuki making a successful career out of education and public speaking, so if he owns some homes good on him. Also, that Kits "mansion" value wouldn't have been anywhere near that value when he bought it but thats beside the point. The man is just as able to earn as anyone else, in fact if there were many more green success stories thats a good thing imo. I don't see any logic to having to be poor and green. On the oil thing this is the explanation he gave and it holds water imo. Its an old holdings company. As for the claim that David owns land with an “oil company”, we did what journalists are supposed to do before running a story. We checked with the company’s owners, a couple living on the Sunshine Coast. They told us the husband’s father ran the company in the 1950s and ’60s to distribute oil to households and small businesses, mostly for furnaces. When the company folded, they used the assets to buy into co-owned land on remote Nelson Island, and it has not operated as anything other than a holding company since the late 1960s. David and a friend, who knew nothing about the company, bought into the property many years ago with the express purpose of protecting it from development. He has made other investments in real estate to provide for his retirement and family. https://davidsuzuki.org/story/false-allegations-pollute-well-public-discourse/

Suzuki is a lot of things, but hypocrite doesn't really stand the smell test. He's been getting smeared by the alt-right media for years, led in particular by Erza Levant, the tool thats behind a lot of fake news. Here's an interesting take on the motives of guys like Levant: https://davidsuzuki.org/story/climate-science-deniers-credibility-tested/

This is pretty funny - people in AB are losing their minds and threatening to pull donations and funding over the U of A giving David Suzuki and honorary degree.... so much for freedom of speech eh? David Turpin: Suzuki controversy shows U of A champions freedom of thought http://edmontonjournal.com/opinion/columnists/david-turpin-suzuki-controversy-shows-u-of-a-champions-freedom-of-thought

yah I really don't see why Saskatchewan is chiming in... other than they want to be able to sell all their oil to China and screw over BC on gas prices too. Thats one of the most ridiculous things about this situation, if BC concedes and lets the pipeline through its just going to hurt every BC citizen at the pump with higher prices.
-
no one is asking for new rules. Thats not how the constitution works. The reference case is seeking to clarify if BC has any rights under the law from an environmental protecton pov. You are the one wanting BC to not exercise its constitutional right to ask the courts a question. How do you justify that?
-
the only ones threatening extortion is Alberta and SK. Do what we want or no gas / higher has prices - thats your people threatening Canadians, not BC. The reference case - which is BCs constitutional right to ask for - is to determine the extent of control, if any, over goods exported across its border. Thats not extortion, thats the law. You just don't like it.

at some point you and others in AB will stop trying to force Canada to "act like a real country" - i.e., how you want them to - and come to the table as a partner. But maybe its too late, Harper made sure that this whole issue was doomed to fail in all likelihood. I guess you have a new Trudeau to blame tho, thats gotta help.
-
need a safe place?
-
are we shipping the tailings through Alberta by any chance?
-
Northern Gateway? you really like punishment. I guess we could stop the metallurgical coal but then you'd have no steel for a pipeline.
-
I thought that was off now due to the 'spat'? we'll need it here for the influx of hybrid and electric cars anyway when gas hits $3 per litre next year
-
-
so I guess the key word there is "land"
-
yup I could see that pairing eventually too.
-
Its brutal. The linkage to high tech investment and oil left me laughing for quite a while.
-
I sure hope so, he can learn a heck of a lot from Tanev... include some of Tanev's know-how with OJs skill set and we have an actual top pairing D in a season or two.
-
this is why I'd love to see him paired with Tanev next season.
-
based on this current year, 2nd.

in the Dhaliwal quotes a few posts up I don't see anything wrong with what his coach is saying, seems very positive to me. He does need to get stronger and adapt to the NHL.... doesn't mean another year in Sweden is the right move vs. sheltered minutes here. I'm sure Green will be saying nearly the exact same things as the Lakers coach.

is "Kolya" a nick name, like saying Nicky? Sounds like he's pretty interested in the team still, makes me wonder what the heck really happened behind the scenes.
-
why stop at a 2nd?
-
yah compared to the marshmallows the Sedin's were at the same age its quite the difference If he does gain more weight this offseason it'll probably be in his legs but honestly i think its time we all stop worrying about it. EPs going to be just fine. This playoff run was tougher competition and he chewed right through it.
-
had the same thought exactly, it kind of explains a lot of what he's doing. Sure he's light but thats not a weak person there, just no frickin' body fat.
-
you Swedes are nutty many of the draft predictions had Elias at 9 or 10, I feel very lucky we got him at 5!

well lets see.... pressurized pipes welded in a hurry... what could go wrong eh? Its so much simpler to simply dig up dirt and get it processed elsewhere for cleanup.
