  1. had no idea at all. I'd love to see BC first nations get behind several projects like this.
  2. the one thing is you'd have to likely support a BC Liberal government for it to happen there's always something eh? but you are right, it would be a very attractive project. And there's no hypocrisy whatsoever, most of the worry is that we're not prepared for a spill and there's no trust that a process started under Herr Harper has legitimacy. But if it could be started properly with all partners from the start, thats a different animal.
  3. wouldn't that be something.... if it was a first nations driven project it could have a lot of support. Alberta hasn't learned yet how to treat other provinces like partners. Its been the mistake for decades now and every time they seem surprised that no one likes their tactics.
  4. its also pretty laughable that the landlocked province is telling the one's that aren't that they have no options of course it would be more expensive, but better that than be bullied by clueless AB politicians.
  5. I think we should trade for Kesler if ANA gets bumped out in the 1st round

What is with CDC that some folks always want to sign ex-Canucks even when their production falls off the rails?

  6. 2016: 5,300 homeless in Alberta, 3600 in Metro Vancouver. What was your point again? 3200 in Calgary alone. sure, we're experiencing a surge in pricing because its awesome here, it will balance out eventually. Lots of vacancy in Calgary I hear....
  7. ? we have the best place to live in Canada to show for it.
  8. they may not have been aware of things the last time there was a dock worker strike. The union will be just fine under Horgan while that goes on. Its all good tho, I'm glad we're moving away from dependence on AB. Like I said, jet fuel won't be coming from AB in about a year anyway, and the Washington refineries will be happy to supply the rest.
  9. me too. I'll bring the dock worker's Tim's while they strike and choke off Alberta's ability to ship grain to Asia.
  10. cool story. So that dil bit is mine too, eh? I don't think Albertans are aware of BC's options when it comes to fuel. Sure, AB can hurt us in the short term, but in less than a year YVR will have a new terminal for jet fuel which will cut Kinder Morgan out of the picture for aircraft. The price increase that Notley creates also means its viable for us to get fuel trucked up from refineries in Washington State. All Notley is going to do is succeed in losing its #1 Canadian customer.
  11. when those dock workers strike nothing moves out of port, and AB won't be able to get its grain to market. I don't want it to happen, but if AB carries through with their gas price threat I fully expect things to get bat sh!t crazy here.
  12. same goes with grain I suppose. I wonder how Alberta will ship that when the BC grain workers union goes on strike to support the NDP? maybe you can ship it to Texas too.
  13. huh? Kinder Morgan is worth <1 billion per year to Alberta.
  14. doens't that already make him bigger than Patrick Kane then? he'll be fine.
  15. its not quite that simple. The poll shows a lot of people in BC see this as a complex issue, they are in favour of economic development but are concerned about a spill and also don't want BC viewed as a place that investors are scared of. With the margin of error though you can't call it a majority and online-only polls are not as reliable as mixed methods with calling. So I wouldn't do a victory lap quite yet. Spill risk is by far the #1 issue on peoples minds here not surprisingly. It also shows if the courts decide BC has no jurisdiction here a majority is willing to give up the protests. Sounds to me like people in BC are a lot more reasonable than Notley has been making out.

you need to start your own site and make some ad money off your posts. Great info as usual.
  17. man you got that right. The way I describe Regina to people is every street looks like you're leaving town.
  18. BC really is an amazing place, you can pretty much do anything you want to here.
  19. we were looking online at a proposed development at Hudson's, not sure if it ever got built tho. Is it still ski-able right now up there?
  20. thats actually something we've looked at
  21. once, damnit, just once with Botch. I have hope for Loui... maybe I like lost causes? if it wasn't for Trump we might look at a small place in Utah or Montana. We love offtrack/backcountry skiing so we are looking for options that get us that when the coast is too wet.
  22. just something to consider, a lot of people we knew there were folks from other places, you kind of find groups of provincial "ex-pats" as it can be hard to fit in there. Maybe not a big deal but could be a "thing". I was a bit surprised at the open racism too, when I first moved there I mentioned to a guy at work a neighbourhood I was looking at and he flat out told me 'don't do it, there's too many black people there' first time that ever happened to me, and I'm lily white. I'd move to Alberta before I ever went back east.
  23. my wife and I have considered moving 1/2 time to Canmore for the skiing/hiking potential. Would I fit there?
  24. having lived in Nova Scotia for a couple of years I'll caution you if you haven't spent much time out there it isn't an easy place to set down roots, its very old family clique. If you are more the independent type then it might be for you. I'd recommend trying working there for a year before buying anything.
