  1. its much more diverse than that: http://credbc.ca/role-energy-sector-bcs-economy/ of course its a BC issue, but this particular project happens to be 15km from downtown
  2. I'd like to re-arrange that F group iand add a veteran 2C with some size and grit in the mix: Eriksson-Horvat-Boeser Dahlen-free agent-Pettersson Leipsic/Goldy-Gaudette-Virtanen Gaunce-Sutter-Granlund Gagner - trade if possible
  3. ah OK thanks for the clarification. I still think we'll be in pretty good shape for the Seattle expansion draft.
  4. Daheln won't be eligible for Seattle. Same rules as for Vegas.
  5. here it is, with the link to the US gov't report available. The recently published Department of Energy 2017 U.S. Energy and Employment Report shows that clean electricity jobs are no doubt the engine that drives America’s electric energy economy, outstripping the number of paychecks provided by the fossil fuel industry by at least five to one. While that doesn’t mean fossil fuel generation is gone, it certainly means that if you are a politician looking for ways to grow jobs for the long term in your community, clean energy is the path to take. https://www.nrdc.org/experts/lara-ettenson/us-clean-energy-jobs-surpass-fossil-fuel-employment
  6. then you should be backing green energy projects, since they employ at a rate of 5:1 compared to oil and gas.
  7. we're into the 4th year of economic growth, projected to have the lowest unemployment in the country, and Vancouver's economy is booming and diversifying daily. So yeah, lets hope nothing changes.
  8. I'm really starting to warm to WPG. They are rag dolling the Wild. And they have a Tanev.

It's starting to look like a good ol playoff game out there!

I've got no idea why the officials split up Buff and Dumbdumb a minute ago... Tanev took a beating as the result..

  9. it is. EP I think will win games by having teams shake their heads a lot wondering how the hell he made that pass or snuck in a goal. McPouty dominates in a different way, not sure they are really comparable tbh. EP reminds me of a more skilled Henrik in the sense he has the playmaking potential plus a great shot which Henrik never really had. I don't think fans will be yelling for EP to "shoot" as much
  10. um, did you read your own article? Absolutely no where does it imply that sinking is a "bogus" concern. It says "it depends". It is good to see that they are continuing the research tho, this is what we need to see happen. If the results turn out to be the way you hope, thats a good thing. But nowhere does it say we're at the point you are claiming. They don't know what will happen in cold water e.g., and it didn't fully address sediment issues.
  11. not by value http://www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/stats/facts-Info-16-eng.htm
  12. agreed. BC has a huge demand for its fisheries and tourism. So lets make sure that we can actually clean up those tar balls and we can all make money.
  13. its an interesting market report, but we'd need to see the growth chart for diesel and jet fuel - how do we know that current producers can't meet that demand? is every diesel producer running at full capacity? if the KM project fails is that going to cause a severe shortage of some kind?
  14. I'm not sure why folks give people like her so much energy and attention. I really dislike twitter.
  15. as it stands today, but that might not be the case with the new dot-117 tanker cars. In all seriousness, it might be cheaper and simpler for AB to invest with the NWT on building a dedicated rail line up north instead of a pipeline. With the new tanker cars safety should not be the same level of concern for rail. this study showed shipping dll bit to the US by rail wasn't as competitive, but it wasn't that far off either. Undiluted bitumen had a large cost savings by rail. With higher prices to Asian countries the economics might make sense for rail up north: https://altex-energy.com/economics-of-rail-versus-pipeline/#1501826887495-d2f4bd8a-649f
  16. But do you? I haven't really seen you budge an inch on this topic. I see a lot of pro-Alberta folks talk about how BC isn't being a good partner, but at the same time Alberta isn't willing to take on one iota of responsibility for safety once the oil crosses the border. If Albertans were really concerned about a true partnership that wouldn't be the case.
  17. thats the thing, AB oil has a market because it is sold at a discount. But if those very large tankers can sell higher quality oil at closer to AB prices then I don't need to take out my old economics textbook to tell me what that means.
  18. can you back that up with an independent reference?
  19. interesting read. Similar to the pul out of large investment here on natural gas, there's just too much large competition.
  20. Ironic yes. If anything investment should have been the response to Denis Coderre's stand on Energy East. That makes far more sense to have Canada supplying 100% of its own oil needs vs. pushing a pipeline on BC thats for the major benefit of Kinder Morgan 1st, then China, then the AB, then the feds, then our scraps.
  21. I heard a Swedish scout on 650 yesterday who said the Sedin's aren't really that popular back in Sweden, kind of 2nd tier to guys like Forsberg e.g., so maybe he didn't want to have to say something similar? He probably just wanted to stay focused on his series as well which I can appreciate.
  22. I didn't realize they had issues on capacity, the AB news always makes it sound like a foregone conclusion that 100% of capacity is a done deal. It would be very ironic if after all this AB ended up not having a great market in China. I think KM is just applying media pressure, but tbh I'd be just fine if this thing tanked, knowing full well what that means, because I think if we now have our governments investing to keep the thing alive that isn't what I want my tax dollars going into. We can and should be investing in other areas of manufacturing, not an industry that might be dead in 40 years. I'm sure KM would prefer to blame BC than admit their market projections were wrong.
  23. nope. He won't be in the AHL this year imo, he's playing playoff hockey right now so why risk over-extending the kid? I'd rather he get a few weeks off and then start hitting the lard bucket to gain a few pounds. It would be a nice treat if they signed him between now and the draft lotto tho. Or maybe the day after depending on the result. Just checked the schedule - if the final goes 7 games thats actually on Apr. 28th so I don't think we'll see a signing until after thats done.
