  1. what good did that do you?
  2. probably would have been easier to just study a bit
  3. maybe. But in the meantime I'd like a couple of guys to have that specific job vs. some amorphous team thing that may or may not happen.
  4. his specific job smart guy of being a 4th line enforcer - ATOI for 4th line guys is generally going to be low, so what?
  5. I'd rather have the conversation "look what Reaves did" than "Jake shoulda done something there" - we've had far too many nights where people wondered why our guys didn't push back harder, its an actual skill to have the stones to make that kind of move. So what if its 7:56? how is that possibly relevant to the job? and fyi he's been closer to 10 mins with Vegas.
  6. I dunno, I think Reaves brings more than plug status. Ideally if we could add someone like Wilson that would be great but I don't see WSH doing that.
  7. who cares? I only want the guy for a year or two until EP gets established. I agree we do need toughness throughout the lineup.... whens the last time we had that?
  8. are they free agents next year? but in all seriousness, is Guddy enough protection for EP? If Kardri throws and elbow into his head and the rest of our guys stand around with their thumbs up their butts it would be infuriating.
  9. not often but when you play against putz' like Kadri we need a couple of guys able - and wiling - to take out Marner et al in retaliation. I think we could use both tbh for a year or two while guys like EP learn the NHL. My free agency wish list to replace the Sedins would be: Kane, Beagle and Reaves.
  10. yup. In the clutch and grab days maybe you needed someone on the same line but not now.
  11. why does a player need to be on the same line to provide protection?
  12. maybe for a cup contending team that can roll 4 lines. But Cherry did point out Crosby is being picked on more now too. For us though we are going to need to protect the kids, and I don't know that Archibald is enough.
  13. thats why I'd be happy if Jim picked up Reaves this offseason for some "safe work environment" assistance.
  14. someone is trying to sell their Sedin bobbleheads on eBay for $425

@coastal.view I actually have two sets. I'm waiting for the market for them to reach $1000 before I sell mine  (nah gonna keep 'em)

I would buy some but not for more than $50. $425?! Maybe if they were autographed.

i just checked - apparently they sold

  15. with the game getting more smaller players too it seems to be shifting more to mobility so that could be part of it, but he'd also better learn who Marchand is pretty quickly.
  16. Yah it could be a cultural thing too. Does EP celebrate too much when he scores? Maybe thats it. Who cares. EP will get the max bonuses anyway for his ELC so it really makes no difference to us. I'm excited that Benning wants to give him a chance to make the team next season according to his interview last night on 650 https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/canucks-gm-talks-elias-pettersson-hell-use-14-million-cap-space/ Benning was asked his thoughts on if Pettersson was ready to crack this lineup next season, if he decides to sign a contract and come to North America. “I think he can. He’s super skilled,” Benning noted. “He’s great with the puck. Great release on his shot. He’s a smart player, reads the play, anticipates well. He’s slight right now, but he’s got good balance on his skates so I think he can come in and be a skilled player for us.”
  17. this is kind of what it boils down to for me as well, if he was willing to do this he would have stayed. I've gone back and forth on it but I'm now in the good riddance camp. Like Benning said 'he has to want to be here' and we don't need to pine over guys that don't want an NHL job.
  18. marketing I suppose. They probably figure giving it to a more well known name will help raise the SHL profile more?
  19. I like the way the Sedins are ending things, two games for us  here at home, one on the road for them just with the team. Seems perfect for them.

I like it too....we didn't have to wait to get the celebration started.  Home, to revel in their magnificence, then off on the road to seal the deal.

I have the great pleasure of seeing BOTH of these final games and it's such a treat to be able to acknowledge them in person.  To be part of the roar that sends them off to a well deserved family life....

thats great Deb :)  I had no idea when I got the tickets for last night that it would be special, I was just looking for a couple of cheapies for one more game ($31 bucks each if you can believe it two weeks ago).

For two guys that actually want to play it out hard and try to win it just seems right to me, and also that they get to enjoy it for themselves for the last one. For all the undeserved crap they've taken I guess I like to see them get a little something too.

Was awesome watching the entire Vegas Golden Knights team stay out and pay respect to Henrik and Daniel after the game.

Based on his 1st year there has to be someone wanting to take a flyer on him.... retaining 50% would be fine given all the new cap room. No way would he clear waivers so there has to be a taker on a reduced salary.
  21. i find that conclusion hilarious. Very few in BC would agree with you but I guess we can agree to disagree.
  22. what? she sure wasn't. And she's no longer in politics. They were a weird mix of centrists and right wingers, not sure what they are now under Wilkinson, other than the group the NDP will defeat in the next election.
  23. I heard that too. I don't know what the timing of his current series is, there may not be time. I'd like to see Dahlen lead his team to a series win vs. one or two games here tbh.
