  1. yup could be. Can you really argue Miller will be more productive than Forsbeg for the next 8 years? seems like a stretch to me but we will find out. Either way I do think this helps us, Millers deal with be somewhere around this number and it takes another guy off the board.
  2. its happened before. Lil Johnny is going to get more than all of them. Kadri is an interesting case, he had a nice run but he's older, and does have that sketchy history.
  3. and two years older. Much bigger risk to go 8.5 x 8 on Miller. IMO the only way Miller gets an 8 year guarantee is if the AAV begins with a 7.
  4. no one's going to pay 9.5 for Miller tho, not for 8 years anyway.
  5. true but Miller is two years older so bigger risk to age out faster.
  6. sets the max for Miller doesn't it? can't see how he can command more than this.
  7. for sure, I think talks have been going on for a long time with a number of teams. Forsbergs deal today should set the upper limit on Miller, he's not worth more than that to any team. Maybe that moves things along.
  8. I don't feel like we're losing all that much if he's injured with us. A late 1st and prospect isn't going to move the needle much anyway and thats all that seems to be on the table at this point. Unless there's a significant deal on the table, something like a Kakko or Schneider (won't be both) then we might as well wait to try cash in at the TDL and improve on the return. And if it ends in Miller injuring himself out of a big payday, well, thats on him.
  9. that was the right move imo, Lou can go kick rocks.
  10. Miller, at the right price, is more valuable to us than anyone else. Getting back what we paid for him (or less?) would be a huge disappointment. I think Millers camp is taking a big risk, if we've offered him a 50 mil total deal, imo he's being a bit dumb not to take it given all the risks to him of not having a new deal going into next season. Say we do dump him as a rental, does that really help him? he has no control over where he goes, may not produce as much as here, risks injury etc. I'm not sure he's getting the best advice from his agent. I don't think there's any team out there thats going to give him 60+ mil in free agency next summer, he's too old by then.
  11. very good point. All talking to other teams does - at this point - is hurt our chances of getting a trade done, and/or drive up his salary. If all the offers to date have essentially been returns we could get at the TDL there no point in making things harder on ourselves by limiting options. I really think we have to wait for news on Malkin and Kadri before teams come forward with better or more serious offers.
  12. he's not really saying anything new there, we knew teams were kicking tires.
  13. I can see Kane being a TDL trade, Toews retiring as a hawk.
  14. don't go taking me too seriously now
  15. I do think if the right offer comes along he'll be moved. But I'm happy for him to stay too. But the anger and disappointment over losing a pick in this draft is a bit much, it wasn't that good of a draft, we got lucky to get the player we did at 15.
  16. I think thats exactly what his agent is waiting for.
  17. I don't think Lyubushkin would be particularly expensive. I like the idea of adding Zadorov even though he's a lefty who plays the right side to up the snarl. Neither player should be out of range of something reasonable. Manson is probably the biggest money risk.
  18. yeah, dunno about that. Its risky if it falls apart.
  19. thats true, but we did land Kuzmenko, so something good is happening here. I do feel like we can pick up a RHD upgrade this year, maybe its Lyubushkin this summer or maybe Zadorov if we don't make a Miller deal for a different RHD. I'm looking to next draft for our RHD stud. Deep draft, we actually have our picks. Timeline for development should be fine as long as we don't burn our 1st.
  20. this is what a tough negotiation looks like. There's a reason people hated the Benning deals, he made them easy by throwing in extra 1sts or 2nds, etc. People are forgetting this is what they were hoping for.
