  1. he did, they sent him to CDC for remedial work.
  2. I have no issue with the Sparkes reach, at that point in the draft its all a 10% crap shoot anyway. I do like getting in another goalie tho, kids got the right frame already and if Clark was high on him thats good enough for me. Our current RHD need tho is one we have to deal with by trade or UFA, imo anyway.
  3. do you think Rinzel should have been our pick? that was the next RHD up after us.
  4. I think the lack of late round RHD all comes down to quality, it wasn't great. Next draft should give us a lot more options to shore that up. Not having a 2nd round pick really hurt us getting that RHD this year, so I guess thats Bennings parting draft gift. Should we really have picked Rinzell over Lekkerimaki? I guess we'll find out.
  5. could be this: However, some significant issues have some scouts wondering if Sparkes will make much of an impact at the pro level. When he has the puck, he doesn’t use his movement as much, and his shot is easily telegraphed, and though it’s powerful, most will know exactly where it’s going. Right now, there’s also not much of an offensive side to his game, despite the promising numbers he put up. https://thehockeywriters.com/2022-nhl-draft-prospect-profile-jack-sparkes/
  6. NYI's 13th and scrap prospects are the definition of meh. I have a feeling its going to get very very salty around here, even if we keep Miller on a decent deal. Based on what we've seen so far, I really hope we can lock down a Miller extension in the next few days. I don't believe we're getting any returns close to adequate.
  7. why? because you don't negotiate against yourself. There's no real upside to us letting agents talk to a player. You only do that when the player is gone for sure.
  8. why would it? no other GM has likely been allowed to talk to Millers agent either.
  9. yup there are good reasons to not let the agent and Lou speak. But I suspect this is now going to be part of the lore, and we must now demonize our mgmt group because the trade Miller camp see's a deal slip through their fingers.
  10. yup that too. If we're going to open up Millers agent to talk, we'd want to do it with multiple teams too. Lou was trying to squeeze us, the old fart.
  11. maybe they weren't convinced Lou was really all that interested and all it does is drive up our price to keep him.
  12. if it falls flat, then we just help to outbid ourselves for our own player.
  13. Can't blame JR for this at all. It just hurts our negotiating position with our own player.
  14. 7.5 AAV for Miller is a nice idea for 4-5 years. For the final years our Demko window is over, and we can go full tankeroo.
  15. or reserve list got a lot more interesting this draft:https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/reserve-list/canucks Our scouting team were clearing thinking BPA, 4 year development timelines. Didn't get the sense of picking for need whatsoever.
  16. that was always the choice. Go with the current group while we have a top goalie, or nuke blow-up. There is no middle.
  17. thats why its hard to take the NHL front office seriously. And its arbitrary. A team can still buy a player out and get a positive cap effect.
  18. seems likely. I can't see COL affording Kardi and extending Mac.
  19. so was that situation not covered by the rules? or did the NHL make this up on the fly?
  20. our best chance to move Miller may come a day or two after free agency opens. Kadri and Malkin need to drop first.
  21. I have no doubt he had input. Big young kid, should be interesting to see how much influence Clarke can have over the next few years.
  22. no kidding. If Allvin nixed a deal over something as meaningless a Friedman yapping I'd want him gone immediately.
