  1. I would think the trade offers are already there if the extension ultimatum has been given. Remember, Benning isn't here anymore.
  2. as long as he didn't cost more than Garland I'm OK with it. As @aGENT pointed out we could get assets back moving Garland and replace him with Mikheyev.
  3. I find some IPAs undrinkable with the over hopping thing that happens here. thats a nice touch, it probably helped customers learn what they liked faster.
  4. once the Leafs brain trust gave him top 6 time he did great tho. Dunno, I'm really liking the idea of having that speed on our top 6 here, we'll need it to force the pace of games.
  5. outside of salary, is there a reason you don't like him? some of the best defensive numbers on the Leafs, 21 goals in 57 games, he's got speed to burn and he's not a smurf. I'd love to see what he can do with Bo.
  6. not at 5+ hopefully but yeah this is one move I'd be very happy to see. https://www.facebook.com/NHL/videos/ilya-mikheyev-races-connor-mcdavid/797234104280284/
  7. not sure how moving those guys is the 'Benning plan'? it could open the door to some big changes in how the team can play.
  8. so just taking a stroll though our reserve list - how many of these guys do you see ending up in Abby in the next two year? maybe 3? https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/reserve-list/canucks its a huge job to replenish the pipeline, imo its going to take 4 more years. This has to happen regardless of where we see this teams window at.
  9. I'm hoping we see a significant re-tool, do I really expect it? no not really, just expecting a lot from the mega hive mind we now have in management I guess. I'd like to re-tool using Pearson, Hog's, Myers, Garland (shed Dickie and Poolman if possible for cap) and see if we can accelerate things that way via trades with assets back from those deals. Those are decent quality players (other than Dickie and Poolie), I'm not trying to jettison crap, just get better fits for our main talent.
  10. unfortunately we just don't know whats being offered for Miller, that black box is the key to all these discussions. So far the one that seems to be the most legit is the Chytil and Lundkvist offer, I just can't put that in the difference maker category. I have a feeling Philly will want to go all-in on someone, if not Miller then maybe Kadri. Torts isn't a development coach.
  11. it all depends on when they want to start getting this group playoff experience. Yes we'll likely overpay something for a guy like Copp, but if it aligns with Bo's extension then maybe its worth it. Have to see the full mix of players at the end of the day. When Jimbo went off the rails was overpaying bottom 6 and 3rd pairing filler. He had a real talent for it.
  12. this thread reminds me of when the Rubik's cube came out. Fun for a few minutes and then you want to throw it against the wall.
  13. I'd have to check the cap on that lineup but I'm wondering if we could go for Copp instead of Roy? that top 9 needs a grinder.
  14. god when you think of the stupid moves between this and Green how did we not end up with the 1st oa pick?
  15. why can't we shoot for better now? trade Miller for a 2 or 5 oa pick AND get a UFA like Copp?
  16. if we ended up getting the 5th from Philly, would you be OK with picking Mintyukov at that spot?
  17. but thats just to stay at 18th in GF. We need more.
  18. almost every year some team in the middle of the pack in the 1st inherits a really good pick. I'm thinking thats us this year. Alf is high on Lambert. Maybe we get bigger Hughes 2.0. I don't see our mgmt group paying to move up a few spots in this draft tho, so we'll just have to wait and see.
  19. sure but we were 18th in GF Its a big question mark if we can still produce even at that rate 5 on 5 if we lose Miller and don't replace him with a good UFA top 6 (or get one back in a trade). I'm hoping Kuzmenko is good on the PP, and I would think he'd have a good opportunity with Bo who seems to be able to carry anyone. But to improve the goal scoring we can't tread water on the top 6.
  20. dunno, looking at Bob Mac's final draft list I could see a few teams selecting Geekie and Lambert ahead of us. Also add in the Russian factor right now and he might be off some lists too. But yes this is the kind of luck we need, a top 10 d falling to us at 15.
