  1. I suppose we could retain on Miller, but then they'd really have to cough up a big package back our way, including their 2023 1st. So they'd be all in with no 1st round picks for 2 seasons, along with whatever assets they send to us. Seems to me like they've made their play with Fiala, because they still have several RFAs to sign and 11 mil in cap space.
  2. Any chance we can send a buddy with him for free.... <cough> Dickie?
  3. they must be banking on that a bit. LA has kind of made its playoff move for next year with this, burning the 1st and the big contract. They only have <12 mil in cap space left and a lot of RFAs to sign.
  4. with Fiala and a healthy Doughty, I think they would take out EDM pretty easily. I wonder if Calgary now caves in and gives lil Johnny and Tkatchup 10 mil each?
  5. I'm thinking that if they are too far apart in negotiations now, whats another year going to do if they just QO him? at least with arbitration you bring the salary down and make him more attractive in a deal.
  6. I wonder if its being considered... its one way to bring that AAV down. If the plan is to trade him anyway, maybe this makes sense?
  7. @mll is today the last day for team elected arbitration, or has that passed already?
  8. someone is going to give him term tho, and that can't be us. If Miller is too risky then whats 35-38 years old? yes I know he's elite but its still 38 in the last year.
  9. I can't see PA going past Kasper but we have no idea what our scouting team internal ranking is. I just wish we had a 2nd round pick this year, there's a RD in there somewhere that we really need: https://thehockeywriters.com/2022-nhl-draft-the-hockey-writers-mock-draft-round-2/
  10. people who do this kind of thing are stupid. You've probably already asked more questions than they did when planning this.
  11. I recall Button saying he sometimes ranks players a bit lower down if he thinks they'll need extra development time. So maybe he feels Ohgren will need an extra year or two before being NHL ready.
  12. I think there was some yap a while ago about bringing the old rule back to try to lower concussions but it never got anywhere. Bure would have been a monster today.
  13. The chance of him being healthy for a full season is quite low, and he'll be expensive, and it has all the issues of a 35+ contract. It has to be a 1 year deal, otherwise its too risky.
  14. that could all be true, I just think the kid wants to be on the ice and stay in shape.
  15. doesn't negate the effect tho, and does put him in a different category than other guys like the Sedins that were loyal their entire careers.
  16. that would be nice. I'm just wondering why the shiny graph is saying things are a disaster.
  17. actually the Vegas Roy is a RH centre. I think the RHD Roy is in LA.
  18. yep its not an easy call. My main issue with moving Miller has always been I don't think it will be nearly enough on its own to make a huge impact. I'm still in the support the current group or go tankeroo as Alf says and move those 6 guys.
