  1. if he is a puck sucker, it should be low level suction. We shouldn't be giving up much or paying much in salary. He's a big, maybe a bit better than Schenn on the left side? a nice add for cheap. I'm way more interested in stealing Roy from the Vegas Bettmans.
  2. now that the cup has been awarded, there is a short window for the team to elect arbitration with him. It would bring his contract number down into the 6's probably. Its hardball but it does make him more tradable.
  3. I wonder if anyone signs Corey Perry for next season.

Do it just to get into the finals

Could be mistaken but I believe he is under contract with Tampa for next season.

      ah @Bell you're correct.

  4. thats why I'm thinking a pick and a college prospect might actually be something they look at.
  5. OK come on now, if you're going to blame someone like this at least be specific. Everyone has been hit by global inflation. And yes they have done some things, like slowly increasing interest rates. Canada has managed to keep a lower inflation rate than many countries including the US: https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2022/06/15/in-the-u-s-and-around-the-world-inflation-is-high-and-getting-higher/ If you can't be specific its hard to take you seriously on this.
  6. I'm just basing it on what Rutherford has said about how he approaches trades, more from a win-win than trying to squeeze another GM.
  7. maybe but its also good to make deals that work, vs. trying to get too cute and missing out on a good upgrade. I'd be very happy for a Rathbone + Hogs for Roy and Hague deal.
  8. how specifically is Justin responsible for the price of your chicken feed?
  9. they could but why lose him for nothing? Canucks should offer a 2024 2nd and Aidan McDonough for Roy and Hague.
  10. it sounds like it was kids who were decent earners at a young age. I like the idea of giving those kids a break.
  11. to be clear, I wouldn't be trading Petey, Hughes or Demko in the blow up. It would be Miller, Myers, Pearson, Bo, Brock. All for 2023 picks and ELC/RFA players.
  12. as much as I like Brock, its hard to argue against that scenario
  13. tbh I don't see any reason why OEL can't be at least as useful as Edler was over the next 5 seasons. He's in great shape, but maybe more importantly he's a pretty smart player. He'll be able to make smart decisions during the game to remain a good player. I'm not worried about OEL's play dropping off a cliff, we'll just have to compensate for his salary by pairing him with cheaper players.
  14. was that a widespread thing? I haven't heard that story. was there time for due diligence? we were looking at an immediate economic disaster in real time. If there was a better way no one come forward with it. they won't be taking any hospital beds from Canadian patients, its all in clinics. I'm glad we're making the offer, the US judicial branch is now run by religious zealots, which should scare everyone even Christians. its a massive problem. I see no other solution other than gov't backed co-op and leasehold properties thats a big enough idea to handle all thats needed. Unfortunately we have this silly us-vs them thing with developers and many governments. We need to incentivize a massive amount of development, not pick useless battles.
  15. it would have to be. He's 26, so its not like he'd be waiting 4 years to be on a competitive team. So that does make me think we're looking at some sort of very fast rebuild and not a set-back of some type.
  16. its hard to read the tea leaves right now. Take the Kuzmeko signing, clearly they sold him on a plan and opportunity. I doubt that plan was a full tank. Could he have sold him on a quick rebuild, say around getting some more Russian pals in like Mikheyev and Lyubushkin.... could be. But then there's talk of moving Miller and Boeser, which depending on the return could set us back for 1 or 2 years.
  17. for me its all about the one or two truly elite guys you get from the tanking process. The later picks are nice and certainly help with cheap depth once a team is competitive tho.
  18. people need to stop putting Poolman into trade ideas, he just hurts the chances of a deal happening. The only way we are moving Poolman is with us paying to do it.
  19. yeah that could be for sure. I never thought we'd be getting that 4 pice deal. I'd be fine with a C or d, C might be easier to obtain and at least thats a position for position move.
  20. yup I can understand that. For me if its 4 years I want the nuclear option and tank for elite picks. I've seen nearly all of this teams era's come and go and I'd be just fine with a proper blow up at this point.
  21. I'd rather retain 50% on Miller than take on a useless Zucker, that hurts our chances of staying competitive dragging him along. I don't think anyone is going to want Poolman, I think he's probably destined for Abby to save on the buried $. I'm hoping we can somehow gain some extra picks so we can just bite bullet and dump Poolman to AZ.
  22. there was so much panic in the air something significant needed to happen. Add that to a needed market correction on housing and throw in a war messing with global food supplies and oil. I'm surprised its not worse.
  23. bingo. For the the big red line was >8mil AAV. If he just won't move off that, it sucks (imo) but you have to walk away. I suspect everyone is going to be disappointed in some way by the deal, I really don't think the return will have us doing jigs. But otoh Burkie is 100% correct, cap space is a big deal and you get that by moving players too.
