  1. all part of a big time negotiation. Millers camp needs to come down to a reasonable number, and they are used to negotiating with Benning.
  2. you're correct on all of these issues, they do need better leadership. But we also need a viable gov't alternative and right now the CPC isn't it, they have no viable ideas.
  3. yeah, stupid enough to keep the con's out of power until at least 2025.
  4. you want crazy @J.I.A.H.N? we re-sign Miller. Yeah I went there.
  5. yeah Justin made covid and global war happen. He's that big.
  6. 650 guys were saying yesterday that this may not be a bad idea re: a return as Miller will by far be the best rental available. But it would be definitely be awkward if the team is competitive and then they move him at the TDL.
  7. just for $&!#s and giggles how would you feel about it if this was our line-up going into next season. Based on what Bruce was able to pull out of this years group, I see something like this as a very not-fun team to play against. Petey-Miller-Podz Kuz-Bo-Mikheyev Roy-Paul-Lockwood Richardson-Lammiko-Lazar Hughes-Manson OEL-Lyubushkin Rathone-Schenn Demko Martin
  8. yep it would be a full on crap show for a couple of seasons, but also elite picks. Unless you win the lotto moving up 10 spots thats the option now. We have to see what JR/PA can cook up, but I firmly believe we can be on the same level as Calgary next season. Does that make us a top 4 NHL team? no but it makes us competitive and gives us a shot, we've all seen what can happen in the playoffs. And thats as good as the Benning drafting can take us, imo. We've got the prime years of Demko for it too.
  9. nah. We're on re-tool #3 since Gillis. So really, its just 2/3 of a season on the Bruce rebuild, we're babies.
  10. how do you determine what and how much to take? curious on the info sources.
  11. I'm basing the Cowgary comp on the fact that we have as many key players drafted in the line-up as they do, and a very good goalie. If we can add some improvements on the right side d and better bottom 6 guys I don't see a good reason why we can't be just as competitive as they are. So, if you view Cowgary as a contender, I think we can also get to their level.
  12. to my mind, just moving Miller is a 1/2 measure. With the right moves I do think the current core could be something akin to Calgary in terms of competitiveness.
  13. careful thats dangerous thinking. Its the only option to really get shots at more elite players. Of course there's the usual pitfalls, etc. but there are some deep drafts coming up. My thinking as this whole thing as evolved here is either try to work with our current core (which I do think could be solid), or go tankeroo as our friend Alf might say. The returns on Bo and Miller could be massive.
  14. yeah JB did rush things for sure on the OEL deal. Now, I do like what OEL brings and he is at least worth something approximating his current deal with us if we can get him the right partner. Garland is also likely movable for decent pieces or maybe we keep him. Would I prefer to have the $ for better fits, yep. I'm OK with a later window, just want it to be full tear down if thats the way we're going with Miller. Some meh 1/2 way thing won't be worth it.
  15. It's not really impatient as much as looking at realistic learning curves. If it's the 2nd oa that's one thing as that guy likely contributes quickly whereas a pick in the 20-30 range might be 4 years away.
  16. steal for us if they want to do that. In a literal heartbeat. Hughes-Pionk would be a legit top pair.
  17. How willing would WPG be to trade Pionk now? I wonder what the cost would be...
  18. sounds like its maybe the drop off in production and low minutes in his SHL time?
  19. nah, he's a whiney cap dump haven't you heard? We just don't know what he's willing to do for an extension, thats going to drive this. JR and Boudreau love the player, they will keep him if they can imo.
  20. yeah its not a good look. Pretty much trying to pull a Seth Jones move but a year early.
  21. If we moved Myers and Pearson that would allow us to go after a few choices in UFAs. Maybe its Manson and Lyubushkin? we could basically replace Myers and Pearson with the guys and I think we'd be a lot better off on the d mix. Klingberg might be too pricey on his own, its hard to know what the market will really be for him but if we have the cap space we can make some pretty nice improvements.
