  1. Depends on a Miller extension, if thats happening then yes it would fit that window.
  2. I don't think he meant taking on dead cap tho, which is what Zucker is now. He was talking about RFAs that teams can't afford anymore.
  3. So hard to say unless we clear a lot of cap space, but my feeling is IF we can move Myers, Pearson and Dickie Allvin tries for Klingberg.
  4. I'm surprised they are over Benning enough to talk about anything else.
  5. we don't have the cap space to take on Zucker, and he's also bottomed out. He can't be part of a deal unless the idea is we buy him out, which also stinks.
  6. the Sedins seemed to buy in, or at least did their best to try. But he was correct.
  7. Imagine if it was Petey or Hughes saying something like this... the pitchforks and torches would be out on Robson within minutes.
  8. Karlsson and Roy are interesting adds for sure. I prefer the idea of threatening Vegas with an offer sheet, but like the idea of maintaining C depth.
  9. he did agree to go to CHI. I do think a goalie will be the hardest part of NJ being able to step up, maybe if that happens before the draft a Miller deal is more likely there? I could see that being a fit, just not sure what I'd really want out of Pits that they can afford to give up.
  10. not when he's standing beside Nurse yup. Lyubushkin might be a good option if we move Myers.
  11. thats fair. I just like what OEL brings, he's still a solid player and does things the right way.
  12. Miller can play any role asked of him, thats a hell of a leader for that young team. My preference is to keep him on a reasonable deal, but if that can't happen, then I certainly can see him being a big part of them trying to take a step. Add Miller and even an average goalie, and I like there chances of at least making the playoffs.
  13. OK maybe not Campbell, but there are goalies out there. Who knows, maybe a tandem of MAF and Blackwood is solid enough. NJ might be Millers best option for a long term deal if he chooses not to do one with us, you just never know. Kadri is a bit of a wildcard in all this too, he may take a spot Miller prefers more but NJ is the 2nd best option.
  14. there's always injuries tho, nothing wrong with some cheapie depth.
  15. we could probably get Edmonton to trade us that pouty German dude for Demko. But no. Demko is not on the table to anyone.
  16. for sure. And good scouting is important, but my point is when are they willing to try to take the next step? in 2-3 years when that 2nd starts to become an impact player? how many years of Hughes and Hischier and Hamilton do they burn? 3 more? If NJ has no interest in taking the next step as soon as next year, sure keep the pick. But if they are able to land a goalie like Campbell e.g., AND Miller that really helps them.
  17. yep, or maybe Brock. Right shot winger in, right shot winger out.
  18. Miller might be overpaid for part of his career, but that pick may also be Nail Yakupov. There's risk either way. Sure that 2nd will be 'cheap' but what if he's not an impact player? at what point does NJ decide to get better?
  19. with Rutherfords history of doing things early, I expect we'll start to see some moves before the draft too. I really want some 2nd round picks this year.
  20. Makar is a great player, but he's too small to be a physical force. Good way for a small d to get injured. I think you're discounting OEL a lot here, he engages all the time.
  21. yep I like the sound of all of that. How much we can pull off obviously needs us to move Myers and Garland, but if we can replace that with more Russian speed and skill I'd like to see it.
