  1. holy crap, I think we've actually reached an agreement on a Miller deal.
  2. yep. It does make a lot of sense to me, but they have to target a goalie too otherwise its busteroo again for them. The 2nd oa is really the only deal for picks that I think makes sense for us imo. Slafkovsky is already a beast of a kid, and has a chance at being an elite player.
  3. Miller would be a big help to NJ's 'lil forward group, and he'd likely be able to maintain producing a lot of points there. If they end up stealing a goalie like Campbell from the Leaves I like their playoff chances.
  4. I'm not sure thats true in this case, it sounds like its just a summer league to stay in shape.
  5. yeah me too. Any quality roster pieces that come our way just set them back in other ways. They really don't have an excess of talent anywhere (not unlike us). I guess they could be looking at someone to help get more out of Laine? In terms of "fit" I just see Miller as actually a better fit with the Canucks than CBJ.
  6. If Miller is a fit on CBJ, he's an even better fit with us. I don't really understand why CBJ would go all-in and give us the 6th ++ for him. PHI is a bit of a weird one too imo, they would have to believe that they really are just one big piece away from making the playoffs again, so they might see Miller as the spark plug they need, along with a better goalie or at least partner with Hart.
  7. a country club with Buble´ playing in the background? no wonder the guys are all sleepy and happy.
  8. he is, so am I, but DeBoer does have DeStink of failure on him.
  9. MacEwan and Stecher could still have roles here, so I guess 2/13 is the record under Benning? roughly the success rate of late 2nd round/3rd round picks. The more you can get from the undrafted the better, so I like that Alvin has managed to pick up a couple of these for free.
  10. didn't say that was my preference, just what I thought was likely
  11. Burkie likes his truculence. Garland and Myers for Marino and their 1st?
  12. could be for sure, it could also be Hoglander? although they might want the cheapie contract Hog's can provide. Garland for Marino would be a solid move for us.
  13. A dumperoo of Garland might give him more minutes for sure. I like our chances of getting the most out of him under Bruce.
  14. he's actually making two decisions potentially, one for his 1st year and where he may want to be as a UFA. Most of the drama is coming from Dhaliwal, not Kuzmenko.
  15. its more that Brock is going to be a UFA right when they hit the start of their rebuild. If Brock was on say a 4 or 5 year deal then I could see it. I suppose an extension with CHI could be part of the package and make the deal that much more likely? Love the add tho, we need gritty player with Hughes and he fits the bill nicely. I wonder if Dickie can be moved via the waiver wire.... would Ottawa take him for free now that they lost Paul? I think they just might.
  16. So basically, moving Hughes and Miller for Provorov, Slafkovsky, and some supporting cast prospects. Are we a better team? I'm not sure, I still see big roles on the right side. I like the new top line tho. Top 6: Slafkovsky-Petey-Boeser ? - Bo-Podz Top 4: Provorov-? OEL-?
  17. this ^ is important info for comparing what the AV's did vs what people think Rutherford might/should do. It wasn't a simple case of stepping back.
  18. baseball is a much easier sport to follow, hockey takes dedication. I think thats why hockey is always going to be the #4 sport in the US.
  19. not at all. I think you're actually one of the more balanced views on here, and can actually have a difference of option without it going sideways. The only ones that get under my skin are the closet CHI fans e.g., who come out wit the P&V during the GDT's just to crap on the team with nothing value added. I'm a bit like the way you are with hockey on the baseball side. I've watched and been a fan of the Jays since day 1, but also just like watching the game regardless of who's playing.
  20. nope, we need to hang on to our elite d. He's our regular season point driver. I'd consider 2OA for Miller, but only because Slafkovsky looks to be a beast and can likely contribute as early as next season. With him and Podz as our top 2 RW's I see some nice heavy playoff fun in our future. We'd have a major hole to fill with Miller gone tho but maybe Slafkovsky and the addition of Kuzemko make Brock expendable on the PP and we can go C hunting with Brock as the main piece.
  21. doesn't solve our right side gaps, but that would be a heck of a left side. We could then look at moving Rathbone tho.
  22. I guess there is the potential for an actual high value hockey trade? e.g., Miller for a 1RHD? that seems like the hardest move of all to make, imo.
  23. I hate all other teams Sometimes I see the non-homer folks as being overly critical and quick to move good pieces. I guess the truth is somewhere in between.
