  1. look at the $&!# for coaching he's had here, what sort of opportunity for this existed under Willie D or Green? both of them discouraged this kind of culture. Its not all on Bo, even with the C. Its fine if you want him to get more physical but that will come at a production cost unless he's got better winger talent with him.
  2. I don't know what people expect. When you look at the career line mates that Bo has been saddled with, he's carried his line's production his entire career. Maybe if he didn't have to carry his line he could hit a bit more. Seems like nitpicking to me, but maybe people would be happier with more hits and less production?
  3. Or its just not part of how he's been so effective and consistent. I don't really agree with you on him being soft on the boards tho. Why do you want to see him be more physical, what do you think that would add to his effectiveness?
  4. Iggy was great, too bad he played for Calgary I think there's a few reasons for the under-appreciation thing, mostly based on style preference or hit totals that have little correlation to wins but thats just my 2 cents. Looking at our leadership group, its Bo (C), Miller (A), OEL (A). Pretty good, but maybe the issue is we need to bring in a few more leaders, not switch sweaters between Bo and Miller.

  6. no need to get upset here, we're just talking ideas. I've read the posts, I understand you have a preference but I don't see the evidence for it one way or another. There are many successful NHL captains over the years with different leadership styles. I think you're also relying on the idea that a team has just one leader. The best teams have a leadership group, not just one dude. Rangers are the perfect example of that.
  7. yea me too. Its just a narrative thats followed him around, not sure why. Would Miller make a good captain? yea maybe now. He wasn't before he arrived here but he's matured a lot.
  8. I get what your take on it is. You haven't explained tho why your take is the one anyone should care about. You say its "change the game". What about closing out games? What about controlling possession? What about being able to rely on a player in critical moments? You've narrowed it down to something you prefer but you haven't really backed it up, and its easy to poke holes in that as something a "captain" must possess. McDavid is a great example of a hole in your theory.
  9. So if thats the measure, McDavid should be an awesome captain, but we all know he isn't. He hasn't led his team to squat. I think you're not valuing one of Bo's biggest assets enough - he's very consistent. Go look at his history, the guy is a marvel of consistent play. Hits can be a misleading stat. Sure he can up his hit totals but then he'd also be risking being out of position for other plays.
  10. But what are you basing this on? Whats the analysis you used to determine that Bo isn't "emotional" enough or thats what this team needs? not sure how you've come to that conclusion. Is Stamkos some kind of emotional leader? Maybe you haven't noticed the Rangers don't actually have a captain.
  11. the Bo slagging is odd to me. They guy does everything well and competes hard. He's an ideal 2C imo.
  12. how could you watch this team under Boudreau and say it was "emotionless"? thats confusing to me.
  13. why the heck would Benning sign a 4 year, uninsured deal knowing Ferlands history? I guess it would cost us too much to move it now.
  14. sure but he's never coming back. I just think there should be a category for this where the team isn't hurt by it.
  15. I don't think so, Shannon corrected himself and included Bo in the core.
  16. the whole LTIR thing is bungled. Why should the Canucks have to operate in LTIR if Ferland can never play again? there really needs to be a category for this that doesn't effect the cap, that can't be over exploited by teams. E.g., if you agree to go on it, part of it is that you never play the game again.
  17. yep. Its ironic that the players didn't demonstrate the tolerance that the team did of their views. Anyway enough derailment of this thread. Go Jays.
  18. My issue with the decision to not wear the team uniform for that day is, those players are telling LGBTQ+ folks that they don't have a right to exist. Those folks don't need the players approval to live their lives, but we do need more tolerance in our society. As someone who grew up in a very religious family (it didn't stick with me but I get it) seeing the players try to use Jesus as an excuse is absolutely not what the new testament information about Jesus supports. So thats my 2 cents on it. I think they are using a misrepresented view of the Bible to justify their own biases.
  19. probably. I wonder if Rutherford is trying to dumperoo (c)@Alflives any of our guys to Buffalo.... <cough> Dickie....
