[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
JM_ replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
well to be fair, Chytil didn't really show up like this before. And he may yet be in the cards if NYR wants to replace Strome with Miller. -

I can't see Burkie e.g. running and whining to the league. Bervegin? 100%. So yeah you'd have to pick your spots. -

I wouldn't do a "take anything" deal, I'd use him as an own-rental before that and hope for a miracle playoff run. We're not obligated to help another team out by giving them Miller on the cheap. I don't think we're looking at a bargain basement trade deal though. His impact in Philly e.g., would be huge. Miller at 50% next year fits on any team, if he must be moved there will be lots of options. Its funny to see people upset over Chytil now, we're a fickle bunch -

I think there are ways to do it. "Hey Seth, what do you think of Chicago?" "Love it, sir" It can even be done via the media "insiders" too. TBH though it does seem like a silly rule, not sure why they have it. You can't sign a deal, but who cares if they talk about it? -

So if a GM asked Millers agent, "would JT be willing to stay long term?" is that outside the rules? -

I think we can be sure teams will be asking questions about what Millers camp wants. Asking "what is JT expecting out of his next deal?" isn't strictly negotiating, its asking about expectations. Thats going to happen for sure. there is a price that makes sense to retain Miller though. For me thats something like 7.5 x 7 years, in that range. If thats simply impossible then yeah we need to move him and it needs to be for good value, and should be given how cheap he could be for a team next season at 50% retained. -

[Rumour] Canucks interested in Andrei Kuzmenko

yep. I don't get why they are waiting to make the announcement, unless they are concerned about a player wondering if he'll be back next year while they are still in the playoffs? -
just curious - do you have kids? you are really wrong on how easy it is for them to find what they want. Whats idiotic to me is thinking that anything other than a health-based approach will have a real impact on saving lives due to a toxic drug supply. And just to preempt the straw man, no one is saying safe supply will end all OD deaths.

thats a group I'd really like to see come in. I don't really have big expectations for JR this offseason tho.

I don't think Myers is really on that overpriced a deal, if it was 5.5 I don't think it would be an issue. But sure if it greases the wheels on a move then sure. I think we could get a lot more than a 7th, I think for those two we could be looking at a 2nd and prospect.
