  1. yeah but @Pears makes a good point about NYR not having had to face a starting goalie yet. Much bigger task ahead of them than before.
  2. I hope so. We can't afford the bloated senior mgmt in BC, that money is needed on the front lines.
  3. this stuff doesn't get old https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/innovative-sedin-plays-canucks-2018
  4. Theodore not likely. Probably more like a package of Roy, Hague or Whitecloud, 1st and 2nd round picks/prospects. Boston would be better for us for a bunch of reasons.
  5. Depends on the trading partner. Just for e.g., take Vegas who is currently 200k over the cap for next season, but year after they have 17 mil open. If we retain, it makes it pretty easy for them to bring Miller aboard now, and have space for him in 2 seasons. Similar deal with Boston.
  6. retaining on Miller opens up the trade potential to nearly every team.
  7. dunno about 7. I don't think EDM's d can handle the Av's speed, and Smith is facing a much deeper F group. I have a feeling Barrie is going to get walked over and over.
  8. Gillis must have convinced him it wasn't going to be a big issue maybe?
  9. it does happen all over. I think the NHL owner thing was to not give the NHLPA any kind of opening for future disputes. I can't remember the time line - was Gillis fired before or after the CBA changes?
  10. I suspect he's got a really good read on Euro picks for this draft as well. Loved him here as a player.
  11. fair enough. I can understand why at the end of the day he chose to present a unified front with other owners but I can see why people may see it that way.
  12. the ghost of Frankie Corrado lurks these halls...
  13. I guess? he could have been the 1/30 that said no, and it still passes.
  14. I think this ^ is it, don't really need to burn a spot on the 50 man roster for a very easily attainable type of player. Ah well, they don't all work out.
  15. this kind of story is why I want to see our bloated and useless health authority system blown up. There's no accountability at all.
  16. the NHL isn't a democracy, its a small club. We don't havre the leverage of a NY or Boston.
  17. he didn't really have a choice, he had to approve the entire CBA not pieces of it.
  18. I'd rather retain 1/2 on Miller for this year, but that deal has some for now, some for later pieces. Its not a world beater but it fills some holes.
  19. maybe if Poolman was healthy, but this migraine issue makes him negative value unfortunately.
  20. why not, lets super size this mo-fo
  21. thats fine, that deal was underwhelming anyway. I don't think NYR were all that committed to it, based on the return. the one issue I see is who replaces Marino for Pits, they won't leave a hole at their 2nd pair right side, so thats why I'm wondering if it needs to be Miller+Myers to Pits to make it happen. Burkie likes truculence, thats a lot of truculence.
  22. There are many reasons to link the teams... and Pits even has the cap space for a move like this. The main issue I see tho is if they move Marino, they really don't have anyone to replace him. So that makes me wonder if it would be a package of Miller AND Myers....
  23. its a decision point. PIT does seem like a decent fit from this pov. Miller also seems very much like a guy Burke would want.
  24. I wasn't talking about stopping a plan, but it does effect how you view your current core and potential moves. I just like looking at these things from the pov of whats actually under your team's control. Demko is pretty far down the list of current concerns. In this draft I haven't seen many goalies even in 2nd round projections so there might be a late round gem in there somewhere for us to pick up.
