hey I don't know if you saw this for your trip - there's a Cirque du Soleil in town until Dec 31st if thats something you're into: https://www.cirquedusoleil.com/canada/vancouver/shows
I've been to a few and they're a lot of fun. The big tent is right beside Rogers Arena.

Is it time to try Jake on the LW with Bo and Boeser? I feel like this would create more space for Bo-Boeser to work its early magic. Jake's far better physical play to Baer's might buy them the space back they need to score.

et tu Louis? what the heck has been going on in hollywood? this one really bums me out.

That stupid McDavid commercial they play 20 times per game is driving me crazy. Its really funny though, it cracks my wife up every time when they show that workout scene where he's carrying two small kettlebells, she laughs and says "look at McDavids little balls" thats my gal, true Canucks fan.

What are the cap implications if/when Shipachyov's contract is mutually terminated? Does some or all of it still count against the VGNs cap?

@Where's Wellwood thats kind of what I was wondering. Montreal didn't get a cap hit for terminating Streit's contract.... so maybe this is an option? There's 21 million in bonuses they'd have to pay him... but maybe thats best for both? I'm sure Loui wouldn't mind moving on from here.

@Green Building is that... heaven???

@Shift-4 it was good. Not too crazy.

the west is going to be a grind again, 9 teams (4th-12th) currently within 2 points of each other!

So HNIC is saying Juolevi is being kicked around as part of a deal for Duchene? I don't know how I feel about that....

So you're suggesting giving up 3 assets for a centre who will fill a top 6 hole for 2 or 3 years until Pettersson is ready? I just don't see that happening in a rebuilding team.
Benning added centres Gagner and Burmistrov this past off season. There is also Sutter and Granlund who may fill the role. Granted, none of these players are locks to fill a top 6 role.
Green has been playing Sutter a lot in a shut down / match up role and they are getting a lot of minutes. Then there is always free agency if they don't think they have the right piece when Sedin retires.
-
@Crabcakes when you put it that way... i guess not. Montreal is likely getting very desperate so thats probably where he ends up.
-
Dear Evander, please don't run over one of your future team mates tonight.

@Ghostsof1915Agreed. My biggest concern for the next few seasons is catching Luongo's cap return once he retires.

How do you feel about Sven Baertschi so far this season?

i think bo and boeser need a tough winger with them that can give them more space. most lines need that.
when pettersson and dahlin, make it to the canucks, they will need a strong defensive, preferable tough line mate.
i think that a gaudette, gadjovich, lind line, has all the elements of a good line.
-
I give up. Hate away CDC, but the treatment of Loui E is borderline shameful. People are actually celebrating a guy getting injured and acting like he's the next Messier. Its brutal.
-
The infamous "Torts 2nd" has become Gadjovich's ELC. Thanks JT.

If Megna gets called up on Tuesday, CDC will:
1. Explode in a giant ball of electronic rage,
2. Go eerily quiet, or
3. Begin the #notmycoach ranting.

I think you're onto something when saying that Green is simply doing his due diligence. If multiple games go by without any shakeup, what then? Green also professed to have watched a lot of Canuck games over the last year or years (leading to the now famous comment about their play during their meeting) so what's stopping him from implementing those changes now?

Manning Park opens in 6 weeks for Nordic skiing.... I'm already getting giddy. Hoping for another big snow year.

Fun thing for the CDC nerds (like me) to try:

for some reason the NHL.com milestone tracker has ignored tracking Daniel's upcoming 1,000 point milestone: http://www.nhl.com/stats/milestone
@-Vintage Canuck- any buddies over at NHL.com to set this straight?
-
It was so much fun to see McPouty get frustrated by Dorsett last night. I'm still actually enjoying it this morning.
-
It was nice listening to Salo today on 650. Still my all time favourite Canuck. Did his job, did it well, no complaints and no fuss.

Megna and Chaput on waivers. Rodin cleared. And the sun shines.

@coastal.view its symbolic. its relief that we won't be seeing our coach make a joke out of the 1st line again. Sure its a bit unfair to Megna but he's also making a lot of money so.....

@chon derry i know, but the start of the season is aways a buzz and then..... well i won't spoil it...
-
when do we have to have our roster finalized? trying to find the specific date and time we have to put players on waivers.
-
symbolism is amazing. We can be shown videos of improper shootings and it comes and goes in the news cycle as if it was fiction. But someone drops a knee and the world goes apesh!t.

@nickels You lack even rudimentary reading comprehension. I'm sorry your teachers so utterly failed you but it's not my job to fix that.
