Still waiting on that Ben Hutton PTO with Calgary. You know its coming.
-
I'm trying a Fernie Brewing First Ascent wheat ale, and I'm liking it.

Benning flips a coin. 1/2 the people are mad.

Correction.
1/2 are mad. The other half are mad at the people who are mad.
I would land in the second half - but yesterday on twitter I'm sure I didn't see one person blowing up about Petey's comments, everything I read was just people blowing up on those people (who I assume actually existed but never saw for myself).

Hey Nux - you are in Osaka, correct? we're thinking of making a trip back to Japan, just wondering if you know of any ski resorts near you that have nordic areas.

Don't mean to pre-empt @Nuxfanabroad, but my wife who is from Himeji says that skiing is really nice around Nagano - in fact, it's sort of a ski mecca (90 resorts or so near Nagano City). They should also have a number of resort type amenities based on winter Olympics build out from the 90s. Maybe @Nuxfanabroad can confirm. Hope this helps a little, @Jimmy McGill.

@bigbadcanucksSure has that right Jimmy. Nagano & of course Hokkaido, are world-renowned. Pretty sure you mentioned them places in the past. Did you say you'd been to one of them?(forget)
Bigbad, Funny you mentioned Himeji, that lovely little Castle town your wife hails from. In the northern part of that prefecture(Hyogo) you might find this place interesting, Jimmy...

They say it's a 2.5 hr bus ride north from Osaka. In such a place you 2 could prob find a charming, small Inn(Minshuku). Apparently there are 20 or so, up there.
Hyogo's quite a large prefecture. Yrs back I'd cycle up there, directly north from Himeji city, we'd visit a little town called Haga. Had heard back then there were some nice resorts for winter sport in that region.
Himeji Castle is also worth a visit. One of the remaining "original" castles & a UNESCO, world heritage site. Also used in several of Japan's most famous movies/shows(The Yakuza, Shogun, The Last Samurai, etc...)

Why is Hakanpaa still available?

He was probably asking for more than people wanted to pay so teams like the Canucks went for the cheaper options. He probably wants a 4x4 and he's only played one year in the NHL and is already 29 so some teams may have stayed away from him. We might have overrated him as well. Poolman may not be as imposing a force as Hakanpaa but based on his solid play in the playoffs playing top 4 minutes Shaw and Benning probably felt he was a better option for what they want and a safer bet.

The big Benning haters were comedy gold today, thanks fellas.

He definitely did well today, these are the deals he should've been doing all along but I suspect there is massive interference from ownership sadly. Even if poolman is a bust it shouldn't handicap the team, taking on OEL though.... yikes. What got him to this point deserves criticism but he somehow found a way out that hole and learned from last offseason. Today was definitely a good day for the team.

Come on Petey, its nearly dinner time in Sweden. Sign that contract and go out to a nice restaurant.
-
Is the cap going up and no one told us? some of the deals around the league today, wow.

How do you say Big Tuna in Russian?

@Jimmy McGill We can buy out his last two years pretty easily.
Just hoping he can regain a step in his game in the first four years.

So all Seattle came away with extra out of the ED was one 2022 4th? wow.
-
So the Oilers lost Larsson, Caleb Jones and a 3rd to keep Duncan Keith.

Benning honestly did well here in this expansion draft. I'm curious what Seattle picks from NYI because NYI absolutely was a loser with that Andrew Ladd cap dump trade LOL.
Edit: NYI lost Eberle.
LOLOLOL. What an IDIOT Lou is. Protected Cal Clutterbuck and Matt Martin instead of Eberle.

@Elias Pettersson- wiping is for p*ssies.

@Elias Pettersson just prepping for the next pandemic
-
This is turning into Super Tuesday with all the moves happening around the league. C'mon Jim.
-
Jim's playing it cool, like he has nothing to do. There haven't been any changes yet, and my guess is because he's waiting for the expansion draft, then he'll do the buyouts, then the trades and signings, etc. As for what taking Pettersson's contract so long? tic toc Jim, you know how the clock hates you.

@Coconuts you can buy a portion of somebody's gravel driveway for a just a few hundred thousand though. Wicked smart investment.

Nice to see the Tampa LTIRs go down in game 1. Go Barry.
-
Should we look at bringing back Fantenberg for next year? We need solid, cheap, players for one more year. Plus there would be a familiar face for Podkolzin.

@hammertimeyes, but it was a turning point in the series - as it fired up the Bruins.

@Heretic @hammertime He was playing quite well too. Shame.

Dhaliwal suggesting Kirk Muller might be added to the bench. Yes please.

Willing to bet he can do a better job than both the clowns currently sabotaging the team with their incompetence but he has experience running a powerplay. I would hope that we find another actual coach in order to replace Baumer as well; he is at risk of causing permanent damage to our young D group with his coaching.

I really like how we don't see an entire quote anymore. If there are more changes, please keep that function, it makes things much more readable.

What doesn't get discusssed enough has been just how solid the Canucks goaltending has been since even the Cloutier years (he only tended to 'melt-down' in the postseason). No matter who was the GM, our goalie coaches have been generally consistantly (good).
Even goalie prospects like Eddie Lack who had a short-lived NHL career, has some bright moments (and his ended early because of injuries.
