  1. I guess I feel like he could be a bit better than the current crop, in how he plays. Its not and shouldn't be a major trade, just wouldn't be opposed to it as long as we're not moving anything thats not spare parts.
  2. I do think that might happen depending on who steps up at camp.
  3. I'm actually curious who ends up on waivers this year, but we're now middle of the pack in pecking order so we likely won't get a good wire pickup, but I guess its possible. Can't see a top 8 capable RHD slipping to us but I guess we can hope.
  4. the hate some have for Trudeau is like mental flash bulb, they can't get a clear view of things.
  5. weird that it took this long for a team to want to pick him up, and its still just a PTO. I don't know this guys history, why did so many teams avoid him?
  6. just taking a guess, but I think based on the amount of detail in your posts about the episodes that it takes a big investment to really appreciate the shows. Maybe its too much to expect now?
  7. good to go for practice.... we'll see how he holds up during games. I hope he can play, we need him, but migraines are such a weird thing we have to wait and see how it goes for him.
  8. well, we may or may not have Poolman healthy, Schenn will age out sooner than later, and do we know if Burroughs is good enough to hold down a regular 3rd pair spot? I like the addition as long as it doesn't cost much or moves someone like Dickie.
  9. sometimes I wonder if you work for the league I think its been shown many times that Canadian teams do have a harder time competing with the US tax situation. Having a level cap playing field should not be an issue to be against, imo.
  10. Mikey got no value. Woo maybe? I'd love to see it for Poolman 1 for 1 but that means Waddell has had a stroke.
  11. If Poolman is LTIR already maybe we can just add Bear for cheap with no roster losses.
  12. its not a great idea for sure. I'm very aware of your stake in all this and I respect it a lot. When I talk about this stuff its not to minimize the horror of whats going on. I do think its pretty complicated right now. Do we ban people in North America from going to make a buck in Russia (even if its dumb)? Do we ban kids like Klimovich and Podkolzin from coming here? does that help anyone? I'm not sure.
  13. if we adjust the cap teams have to allow it to recognize taxation differences that would help a lot.
  14. I really think the Canadian teams need to band together and demand a fairer taxation system. We're getting screwed on the cap with the lower US tax rates, we need a tax adjusted cap for a level playing field.
  15. nah, Trudeau and Soros sacrificed a chicken or something and here we are.
  16. Canadian team have always produced an outsized portion of the NHL revenue, we carry shit teams like AZ and SJS but Daly lets SJ of the hook on 20 million in cap because its a US market. I mean look at where SJ is for revenue: https://www.statista.com/statistics/193736/revenue-of-national-hockey-league-teams-in-2010/ I'd actually be fine with a new league that was a mix of Canadian, Euro and maybe the O6 US teams and see the current NHL go away. I wish our Canadian teams could band together and be a bigger force at the table but I doubt they'd ever do that.
  17. I mean its not for everyone and thats fine. I started in SK, moved to Halifax before ending up in BC where we had to start in a crap box of a townhome and work up from there. If I were staring out and didn't want to or couldn't leave BC for some reason, I might look at the option of buying in another province but as a landlord, to begin building equity and get into the market that way. A guy I worked with had a place in Moncton that he rented out to cover the mortgage and flipped it after a few years. There are places where you could catch a bit of a rising tide I bet if you did your homework on new markets.
  18. moving within Canada to get started might be a good option for some people. Its worth exploring at least for some.
  19. yep I agree on all fronts there. The timing may not quite work out for Severson, unless Myers is going back the other way maybe? or some other salary of some kind. Right now I still think its much easier to land that 2nd pair LHD upgrade, but what we've seen from the new mgmt group so far is to expect surprises so who knows what they're working on. I'm really excited by our two new Ruskies, they are going to have a big impact. Kuzemenko might be a steal.
  20. well, everyone has different morals. We're not stopping many industries from working in Russia, importing goods from there, etc. and allowing Russians to work here. So until that changes I guess you can be personally unimpressed but until we see a wider movement to cut off Russian interactions it is what it is. I wouldn't do it but I guess he figures its worth it.
  21. imo this team needs to first show it can make the playoffs, and how far they can go in the playoffs will determine what kind of offseason we have next year. Right now it certainly looks like we're two top 4 d short, but maybe someone in the current roster surprises us and the job next year is to find one more.
