unfortunately there wasn't anyone for him to learn under.... which would have been a great time to tank and learn the job over several years while we were bottom feeders.

nope and likely never will.

[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks
JM_ replied to HOFsedins's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
thats probably where they're at - see where things are first, unless some deal comes along between now and camp that another team initiates -
people say that, but I don't know that its really true. I think he would have gone that route if Linden came into the job with that as the main idea.

Its not obsession, mll is correct when they raise things like bonuses being carried over to next season being an issue. I'd also like to see some cap space built up so we can potentially see a TDL move like bringing in a veteran RHD like Severson. -
Linden should have torn it down to the studs and done a proper rebuild, imo.

[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks

I think they have to bite the bullet and pay to move Dickie and maybe Pearson (or expect nothing for him) to make the cap room needed for this year and to avoid bonus problems for next year. -
not seeing any preseason games I have to think D-M is going to get a long look. But yeah, its going to take some juggling. Maybe we see some significant shifts between home and road games for the pairings too.

I wonder how much of the country would tho?

I guess I don't see much choice.... I'd have to run the math, but whats the lowest # minutes Dermott-Myers could be put out there, 17-18? I guess it depends on which F group is on the ice at the same time as them, if its a highly defensive shift maybe a F can come back to help. I'm grasping.

it really comes down to your personal ability to absorb risk. If a 2% hike sends you into bankruptcy, maybe lock in.

Where do we get a RHD from? (Discussion)

if he's willing to take that, I think he goes to a big market like NY or LA or even TO. I wouldn't be opposed to it at that price tho. -

a lot. It will sting either in picks, prospects or both. Our new mgmt is so damn quiet we have no idea what they are working on, its frustrating -
we locked in as well, you could see rates were at the bottom and it was no-risk to lock down imo.
-
I think we might have to try though. OEL-Hughes could be a dominant pair. Rathbone-Schenn a serviceable 3rd. If Dermott-Myers can hold their own somehow it does make us better.

JTs extension doesn't effect this years cap tho -

hmm, yeah that could be. I just worry that for the first time Bo may have two regular stud wingers with him and we lose out on seeing the best of Bo. I mean look at some of the players he's carried over the years and he still produced consistently. I'd rather burn some mid-round picks moving Dickie and Pearson to make the cap space for Severson than lose Bo. -

I know what you're saying about a Bo trade, but why would Bo get us that if Miller couldn't? -

@J.I.A.H.N draft is the cheapest way of course, but even Makar took draft + 5 to become current Makar. For the Canucks, I don't think we need to be looking for a Makar moon shot, we could do well shooting for a Tanev. A puck moving offensive left side of Hughes, OEL, Rathbone needs to be complimented with a couple of Tanev's or a Tanev and a simple style stay at home type. So that I do think we can look at in free agency and trade. UFA options barring extension for next year include Severson, Weegar for top pair, Zub, Mayfield, Holl for 2nd/3rd pair. Maybe we get lucky and Filip Johansson is ready after a year in Abby. Or maybe Keeper or Burroughs steps up to fill the 3rd pairing role nicely. I also wonder what KHL free agents might want to come here as well in 2023, with three happy Russians here we might be a prime destination for a d man no one has thought of yet. -
rate shopping is a good idea, and getting a mortgage broker to help is free. Its a weird time right now for rates, some banks have 3-5 year fixed the same rate as variable (e.g., https://www.tangerine.ca/en/products/borrowing/tangerine-mortgage). It would help for you to figure out what your risk tolerance is ahead of time, and how much it would hurt you if rates did go up. You can use a mortgage calculator and work that out for yourself https://www.tangerine.ca/en/calculators/calculators.html#mpc

his giveaway rate last year was about 1/2 of what it normally has been, fwiw. I have my doubts we'll see much of him with the migraine issue.
