  1. we're lucky to have Bruce, he'll be able to get the message though I'm sure. I'm just happy we don't have to worry about Baumer guiding this kid.
  2. some of them do, e.g., Sutherland loves being part of the outcome. Hopefully with more tech we can take ref's more and more out of the game. Game management is at an all time high.
  3. from the Dhaliwal tweety it sounds like Quinn has asked to try the right side - I think the kid is up to the challenge. If he can do it, it really puts him into the next level of d men playing right now.
  4. I just can't pencil Poolman in until he's shown he can stay healthy.
  5. insurance in case Rathbone stumbles out of the gate? My 2 cent prediction for our starting d pairs: OEL-Hughes (right side huggy) Dermott-Myers Rathbone-Schenn with DeKeyser-Burroughs as our 7/8.
  6. No wonder the guys love Bruce, he lets guys try to develop vs. looking for way to limit their deficiencies from the start. Very happy to hear Quinn wants to take it on too.
  7. ah thats a good point. OEL is likely to get less rattled as well. Either way, I'm happy to see the experiment play out. I was thinking with Hughes excellent mobility he could make the transition as well, but OEL does have the far better shot. It just gives us options to deal with Myers and not stifle OEL. I suspect Dermott-Myers is going to get a long look in camp as well.
  8. not sure it has to be static. I could see them both switching sides during games.
  9. say what you want, the man was right about our team and I bet you a coke he's right about this one.
  10. they're 10 years apart in age, maybe save the 'lol' until Bo's through the most productive part of his career.
  11. pretty much. If it ups competition at camp thats good. League min and starting in Abby is fine as well, although I'm not sure if he'd be taking a spot from a kid there or not.
  12. relevant to who? btw, you don't own those nice things, the bank does. By the time you pay them off they won't be nice things anymore. And I'm not judging, I don't care at all how you want to live you life, have your best one whatever that looks like.
  13. you should be proud, thats great to see kids that age kicking ass like that.
  14. he doesn't really have competition for the 3LD spot there either. Fun team, very good chance of a spot, lots of LTIR money, kind of a no-brainer.
  15. maybe as a stay at home partner with Myers? if mgmt is committed to trying to make Hughes-OEL a real thing then trying DD makes sense, as a PTO anyway.
  16. yep I do remember that. It really hit my wife's sister and husband hard... but they are they types you're talking about. Moved from east van to the west side and pretend they're royalty its truly funny. -- One thing thats maybe peripherally related to all this is, I don't understand why the trades aren't viewed as a better option for more people? so many great high paying careers that can't be filled, but for some reason everyone wants to go to UBC and then go work at Starbucks.
  17. dunno J. I've never cared about that stuff tho. I tend to keep a car for about 10 years, I don't care about jewelry or being seen in a restaurant. So maybe I'm just lucky that way. Debt has always bothered me tho, I really hated having a big mortgage.
  18. very true. What does worry me about things today tho is too many kids have to work hard but they aren't getting the same opportunities we did. We didn't have to pay $2000/mo in rent to live in a craphole, and do it on two min wage jobs. Income equality is out of whack right now, we need to get that figured out asap.
  19. there's so many things you can do that don't require the big show of spending money. For my wife and I, we enjoy a good food truck meal as much as many so-called high end restaurants e.g.. You can always make a better steak at home if you know a few simple things (actually goes for most meals). You can pick from many hobbies that don't require a truckload of dough. We do spend a bit on gear and passes for the sports we like to do, but its also how we spend a lot of our time and how we stay healthy. We also did the classic thing of buying a place that wasn't the nicest place on the block and worked out way though 3 more places to living mortgage free now. There are no shortcuts on that one. But, you are always going to see house poor people with a sweet new BMW loan, its the way of things.
