  1. I think Bo leaving would signal the tear down. Or if it didn't, oy thats a massive screw up. I just want them to pick a direction. Either support this current group properly (at least 1 more RHD, a true shutdown 3C) or blow the thing up.
  2. yeah its a tough time around here right now. Not a lot of hope. No one seems to know the "why" of this situation. Lots of finger pointing, etc. but the reason isn't clear. Maybe its just too much losing? cultures do go down in flames sometimes. I suspect we go 1/5 on this road trip. That should put the nail in it. What happens then? if we lose Bo then I want this thing blown up.
  3. Miller to Cowtown makes me want to vomit, pause, and vomit once more. Then my dog barfs too. They won't give us anything good back in terms of d, it would be all picks back. Their prospect depth is worse than ours, other than maybe Coronato.
  4. no, its actually a fact. He has that option if he wants it. No amount of you making stuff up changes that. no, its you.
  5. you keep assigning feeling to my statements that I don't have. You're reading "worry" into things I say and its not my take at all.
  6. it was all about the cap and having to get Petey and Hughes under certain numbers. Instead of creating some cap space by not resigning Pearson, e.g., we ended up having to go short on a deal with Petey. It was a short sighted move. If we're going to attempt some sort of 2-3 year rejig, it comes at the risk of Petey walking to free agency the way things are set up. Sure maybe Petey will want to stay, but he doesn't have to, and he'll have many teams looking to add him. I've been whined at for saying this is 'fear mongering' of whatever, but its also just a fact.
  7. hey Alf - I think this is the kind of thing you've been talking about -

A lot more articulate than what I’ve been saying but that’s our “loose” forecheck for sure.

So is that coaching or the players making this decision? or are they unsure of what to do?

I'm still not clear on why they are playing like this.

  8. this sports net article is pretty interesting, kind of highlights the issues well. https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/upon-further-review-how-the-canucks-forwards-are-failing-the-defence/
  9. Benning didn't sign anyone strategically, Hughes agent just went faster than Petey's. Its just one of the many problems this team has. There's just so many. Its why I see the smaller 2 year reset as the least likely thing to pull off, there's just too many hard moves and too many things not under team control, imo. Look at the Marino deal - a no-brainer for us to do. If they can't even pull a deal like that off, I don't have any confidence they can thread the needle with the series of moves needed to make this a contender in 2 seasons.
  10. it comes down to who has control in a negotiation. Everything else is speculation. You have a guy locked up or you don't.
  11. the problem is Benning really screwed us not signing Petey to an 8 year deal. God, we kept Pearson and Hamonic and signed a 1C to a bridge
  12. 1st rounders and RFAs would be key, the rest is depth. Which as we've seen does become important eventually, but its all long shot stuff after the 1st round. Sure, that could happen. What have you seen from this mgmt group to make you think thats going to happen?
  13. young RFAs, picks, prospects. Depending on how you did in the next draft and the returns for veteran players, maybe you can pull it off quickly, maybe a 1 or 2 year tankage. It all depends on the mix of players coming back and who we're able to draft.
  14. I'd put everyone on the block. We aren't forced to trade guys for scraps, but open it al up and see what kind of bidding offers come.
