  1. Nice to have you Mike! You are certainly inheriting a beauty of a team. As an oldnews replacement, I believe I will be exclusively referring to you as "youngnews". I hope this does not negatively impact our trading relationship.
  2. It sounds like you should probably rescue him from my dastardly clutches. Put the poor kid to better use. I hear you might have a goalie position open soon!
  3. Nonsense! He is in the active slot! .....as of 30 seconds before I posted that congratulations message. Because I knew you were going to chirp me for it.
  4. Congrats to Louis Domingue for setting a Lightning Franchise record with his 10th straight win. He has come a long way from the mascot suit.
  5. I am not sure if 9 points in 50 games, and -7 counts as solid. Only 60 shots too, so it isn't like he is getting unlucky. 1 shot and 1 hit per game with 4th line production and defense. Averaging a bit over 12 minutes. That is as close to replacement level 4th liner as you can come. He has been good in the past, but definitely having a rough season in a contract year. Rough shake for him.
  6. Speaking of trades, and people that Jazz hasn't plundered yet: Johnsson and Donskoi still on the block. Heating up lately, at 3.78 and 3.61 ppg over the past month. Obviously on excellent playoff teams, and varying degrees of young. Looking at similar trades to the Cirelli - Konecny one. Which should be palatable, since someone mentioned Jazz doing well in it. Looking for similar young players, on non-playoff teams. Obviously looking to make up the value difference by getting someone with higher production or a higher ceiling. Please for the love of god don't offer someone 5 years older, lower producing, AND on a non playoff team. Also, welcome @Matthews. Always nice to see a move that makes the league more active. Even if it means saying goodbye to someone.
  7. Agreed. Not yet banned, but should be. Same spirit as any of those other "loan" trades that we banned before. Be pretty easy for me to say "X team gets as much of my roster as they like. Future considerations to give players back later once they win" Stacks one team to win the cup and the other to tank. Betting picks or whatever i have no issue with (obviously, since I did it). That doesnt impact the outcome.
  8. Well it sure isn't me! Although I am interesting to know where I land.
  9. For what it is worth, I vote to move it. It tends to lead to players not signing with the best offer, or best fit team. They just sign with "that guy who offered first". Since the player never holds for a couple months for other offers, or has his agent phone around like he might IRL. I can live with either though! It is nice that you guys are keeping on top of small quality of life shifts like this. Nice streamlining and group involvement.
  10. Happy holidays to everyone! We cut down our own tree this year, and I badly misjudged the size. Turns out trees are big. I write this, comfortably seated in front of half a forrest in my livingroom.
  11. Yeah teams do the trade flip all the time. Giving up an asset for a player, then selling him again. Good old Hoffman this year. Never made any promises to the player. Possibly never even TALKED to the guy. Gave up something for him, got something for him. He backs his bags, and still gets to make his own choice when he hits UFA. Signing him generally implies discussions and a choice. You talked him into joining the team. Gave his agent (and the mods) a statement of where you see him playing, why you want him, what opportunities and payment he will get. He presumably chooses your team, gives up other opportunities to be there. Burns one if his very few chances at choosing where he wants to play. Then boom, smoke and mirrors. It was all a lie and he is flipped for a pick. Plus, league balance wise: It makes it harder to farm assets out of nothing by signing and trading. Trade and flip less so, since you gave up something to get him.
  12. He certainly does make a top pick difficult doesn't he? I will have to slip Bettman a couple rumble fivers to get that lottery nice and rigged for me.
  13. THE BUFFASLUG RISES! With that scrub Vasilevskiy breaking his foot, Domingue has will now fulfill his destiny as Tampa's full time starter for at least a couple months. Yes, those league leading lightning. The world is his Oyster. How sweet it is to see my child all grown up and dressed like a real goalie instead of a giant slug. .... He is of course now for sale. Dry your eyes my sweet child, you are on to bigger and better things. Maybe your new team won't make you wear the mascot costume and dance. Shoot me and offer and we can chat. Even once Vasi comes back, he is a 26 year old backup on a great team.
  14. Yeah Severson is killing it for you. The alternate that we talked about on that trade was Johnsson I think. Who is.... not killing it. So some things definitely working out!
  15. Oh, that is WHY we are laughing. I imagine he is in a group message with Bouchard's agent. We fully concur with @Tigs though. Ottawa may have painted their poorly-planned asses into the corner; trading away their first and forcing themselves to push for short term standings when they should be rebuilding. But we are firm believers in measured development. Not ruining prospects by rushing them into a losing environment in order to sell tickets. Plus, real life NHL teams have the option of playing them for their trial games, then sending down and letting the contract slide. As evidenced by Bouchard just being sent down. If we had signed him, we would be on the hook for a burned season that Edmonton isn't. If it makes you feel better, you can pretend that we signed them then let the entry level slide for a year.
  16. Thanks to @Tylez for doing the low level shuffle with us. Just some more of our usual cycle: taking in players, turning them into picks. Turning picks into Obscure Russians TM. Carrick came close to being a swing and a miss last season: Never turned into the player that we wanted when we acquired him, scratched often, and finally shuffled off the Dallas for a 7th. He has looked good in a few games with Dallas, so we are happy to cycle him for a 2nd. Hopefully he will keep it up now that he has some faith from the coach; he certainly has the potential. I still like the kid, even as we ship him off. Broissoit just became the casualty of too many backups in the system. Someday we will get a real goalie. Someday.
  17. Congratulations man, that is fantastic news! Wishing her the best recovery possible. That really gives the meaning to the thanksgiving holiday. Nice work with the tree as well; looks like you might have some good firewood there while you are at it. I am thankful that I have two new kittens in my house, and they haven't managed to destroy any of my belongings yet. And as always - that hockey is back.
  18. This one is the blockbuster of the season. Ignore the Jones trade. Ignore the Byfuglien trade. This bad boy is the league changer you have been waiting for. We are extremely excited to aquire... *checks notes*... Derkals? If @Sestito'sHandMadeVodka likes him I assume he is russian: all hail the motherland. Future considerations continues to be my favourite asset to spend. Sure hope we dont run out of those precious precious considerations.
  19. That is undeniably a sexy sexy core of young D. Some real blue chips at the top, and plenty of depth.
  20. You learn new things every day! Pleasure to meet you, Brandon from Fantrax. Now I feel REALLY out of my league for how clumsy I am at navitaging that system.
  21. Those cooking injuries. The true scourge of the hockey world.
  22. Ouch. Nate Shmidt out for 20 games for using performance enhancing drugs. I think that's you @Master Mind
  23. Welcome on board! Can never have enough leagues eh?
  24. I love how the first two responses to this thread were someone on each side reinforcing the vitriol and raging at each other. It took exactly one post each to bring in the words pedophile and snowflake respectively. It couldn't have reinforced his point better if he tried. @Rob_Zepp you sure those aren't both extra accounts of yours?
  25. Are you saying that the rest of the things exploding in films since then HAVEN'T been real? I was wondering how they managed to build that death star..
